The video includes a CNN logo in the bottom right-hand corner.
But the purported video is altered.
A CNN spokesperson told USA TODAY the outlet never aired such a clip. It was created and aired as part of a comedic skit by “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” a late-night talk show.
The Facebook clip is fabricated and was never broadcast by CNN, Sydney Baldwin, the company’s spokesperson, told USA TODAY in an email.
The original CNN footage shows Trump and Pope Francis posing for pictures, but it does not zoom in on their hands. There is also a breaking news banner at the bottom of the actual clip that reads “U.S. President Trump meets Pope Francis.”
The same scene of the men posing for pictures together was aired on NBC and C-SPAN. None of the footage shows the pope slapping Trump’s hand.

But with the most incompetent, out of control, and downright anti-American administration in history holding the reins, anything could happen. Especially if our government continues to pursue a grotesque vision of wind and solar energy powering our economy. That will never happen, but a serious effort to make it happen could indeed result in a 1930s-style depression, or worse.
[Silver lining] Still, to look on the bright side, it is hard to imagine the Democratic Party faring well in November if more than half of Americans think the Democrats’ policies have led us to the brink of a depression.

YouTube suspiciously censored a 2019 speech by future Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni just days after she was elected and the clip went viral. Coincidence? Likely not.
“A YouTube channel called “Cassius” translated videos of European politicians from languages like German, French and Swedish into English. Cassius posted the video of Meloni speaking at the event in April 2019, according to an archived version of the video. YouTube allowed Meloni’s speech to remain on its platform for nearly three and a half years before deciding to censor it after it went viral.
Users attempting to view the video instead find a notice that reads “This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.”
It’s unclear exactly why the platform removed the video. The platform’s “hate speech policy” prohibits “content promoting violence or hatred against individuals or groups” based on attributes like “Gender Identity and Expression,” “Sex/Gender” and “Sexual orientation.” Meloni did openly speak out against the LGBT ideology.
“They said it’s scandalous for people to defend the natural family founded on marriage… to say no to gender ideology,” she said. Meloni later added: “I say the embarrassing ones are not us. The embarrassing ones are those who support practices like ‘womb for rent,’ abortion at nine months, and blocking the development of children with drugs at 11 years of age.”
This is not the first time YouTube censored one of Meloni’s speeches. In February, the platform removed two whole days of the American Conservative Union’s live-streamed videos from the 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, including Meloni’s speech. The platform removed the videos nearly a month after they were posted for allegedly violating its “election integrity policy.”
At the time, Meloni tweeted: “Google removed two full days of speeches from the YouTube channel of @CPAC, the largest conference of American conservatives. An unacceptable censorship. Solidarity with the organizers and all those present: this is not the free world we are fighting for!””

One can argue (correctly) that our fed govt often through the decades operated illegally, but now it does so openly and will go after and attack those who try to point out those illegal activities. This era evokes the shame of the Dems during the years of the Great War when people were jailed for daring to speak truthfully about the situation. In my lifetime, a large newspaper could mount a series of editorials or one could write a best selling book.

Prediction #1. Stacy Abrams, the once darling of the media, is officially toast. Come the day after the election, the Dems will be going after her for a pound of flesh. They are seething at her already. She formed her organization with millions of dollars of outside money, told the Georgia Dem candidates you run there, you run here, you run over yonder and I will run for Governor. She has lost her sense of humor, she has lost her passion and she has lost her bright star. The Dem knives are now out for her, but they will wait until the day after the November elections.
Instead of calling her former leader of the Georgia House, they now are correctly calling her “former minority leader of the State house. They have seen the internals. The Wa Post ran an article stating that Stacy Abrams and Donald Trump are election deniers. The Wa Compost would never have run that article in a hundred years if they thought she had even a remote change of winning.
Sure, it’s only one Governors race, but that’s my prediction. Her only chance now at national politics is to be on a Harris-Abrams ticket. For all Stacy’s bluster and fawning media coverage since 2018, she has never won a state wide election. Toast.
That’s my first prediction.
