Tonight the FBI raided former President Trump’s Florida residence unannounced. This is an historical and unprecedented action which has horrible portents for our republic. I’ll have more to say about this, and so will RR readers who need a place to record their sentiments as this story develops over the next days. If there is no smoking gun produced by the DoJ in this case, then we have definitely transitioned into a political thugocracy.
Bad news for the Dems… The feds are closing in on Trump and raided his crib. He’s probably done as a candidate therefore the Dems won’t be running against the biggest political loser in modern history who just keeps on losing,

Leaving aside the FBI raid today in Florida, my gut reaction continues to be the ‘Deep State’ (or whatever of several labels one chooses) is in a major panic. Durham and other investigations may be viewed by the Corrupt Globalists as getting ready to blow the lid off of the whole can of worms, exposing them all.
A roads lead to and through Ukraine. It’s where every oligarch on the planet goes to launder money and exchange ill gotten gains for currency, including all the major arms dealers. From Hillary to the Davos Gang.

Did Trump set a trap to expose their corruption and they walked right into it? Is Trump that smart, that savvy? I don’t know. Only have glanced at one article, skimmed less than half of it. Got more important stuff going on and going down right now so I can wait for a few days to find out more speculation, lol.
Here is a brief first reaction skimming parts of the article….one of hundreds, maybe thousands to come I am sure.
The FBI has openly become an arm of the Democratic Party. This will not serve the Bureau well in years to come. But what was the pretext for the raid?
NYT:
“The search, according to two people familiar with the investigation, appeared to be focused on material that Mr. Trump had brought with him to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence, after he left the White House. Those boxes contained many pages of classified documents, according to a person familiar with their contents.
Mr. Trump delayed returning 15 boxes of material requested by officials with the National Archives for many months, only doing so when there became a threat of action being taken to retrieve them.”
That is classic NYT “news” reporting. The Times cites the fact that Trump took a while to send documents to the National Archives–which he did some time ago–as justification for today’s raid.
“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Mr. Trump said, maintaining it was an effort to stop him from running for president in 2024. “Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.”
“They even broke into my safe!” he wrote. “What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”
Good question, although, to be fair, the FBI had a search warrant issued by a compliant authority. But anyone who wonders whether the FBI’s leaders should be identified as Democrats hasn’t been paying attention.
Trump is certainly correct that all of this–the absurd “January 6” committee hearings, threats of criminal prosecution, and now this raid on his Florida home–is driven by the 2024 election. The Democrats impeached Trump twice, but that didn’t work. He leads Joe Biden in every 2024 presidential preference poll I have seen. So now they want to up the ante by arresting or indicting him on some trumped-up charge. That this is 100% about presidential politics, no one doubts.
I think this is unfortunate not only because it betrays our status as a banana republic, as Trump said, but also because it increases the likelihood that Republicans will rally behind Trump and he will be the Republican nominee in 2024. Given the disaster of the Biden administration, many think the Republican nominee will be a shoo-in in 2024, no matter who he or she might be. I disagree. I think that Trump might drag behind him so much baggage that he could be the only Republican likely to lose in 2024–not to Joe Biden, obviously, but to whomever the Dems nominate.
If I thought the Democrats were this well-organized, I would suspect that today’s raid was part of their plot to ensure that Donald Trump is the Republican nominee in 2024.”

There could be another explanation. Maybe Trump is involved in or associated with another criminal case we know nothing about and has nothing to do with Jan. 6.
You know, 51 former CIA and intel gurus stated unequivocally that the Hunter laptop from hell scandal was ALL Russian disinformation. For an unprecedented warrant to be issued, Merrick Garland himself has to sign off on it…as well as the DOJ’s top lawyer who runs the audit/IG exempt DOJ’s national security division. Then in private court, a federal prosecutor and two FBI agents get questioned by a FISA court judge and there in the private setting under oath, the DOJ prosecutor and the two FBI investigators on the case must sign the warrant application in front of the judge.
That is how it works. It is good to remember that the FISA court brought James Comey in several times to excoriate the Director for submitting false information on FISA warrant requests….well before opening the investigation into Donald Trump in Sept of 2015. It’s been an ongoing problem and Comey just kept getting lectured by the Court and walked out and flipped the Court the bird. Reforms? Ha. We are the Untouchables.
The laptop from hell is exposing Biden, Paul Pelosi’s son, Kerry’s stepson Heinze, the stuff coming out about Ukraine, Mitt Romney’s kid, Chinese Communist Party, the election corruption exposed in Arizona, Biden’s dementia, the pushback, spiraling down the drain trust of the media (the Deep State’s mouthpiece) declining trust in our Justice system….
any number of things and all combined to make it now or never.
‘They’ used to do these things in secret but desperate times call for desperate measures. Now they do it in the open and don’t try to pretend. Astonishing.
It’s all about power. So, I will keep an open mind but will have to see the cards on the table. There seems to be a lot of Authoritarian impulses on display here.

Opps. Did not mean FISA court on this particular warrant. But the process explained would also be for a Federal judge in a private settings with aides and stenographer question the Federal prosecutor and two FBI investigators/agents/ Deputy Assistants under oath and sign the warrant request in his presence.
They better have crooks all the Tees and dotted all the iiiiis. Just kidding. Nothing will happened to them if the prosecutors takes a little Adam Shift artistic license.

I’ve never said that Trump is incapable of a crime and I’ve never said I would think him innocent no matter what.
Paul has already ‘forgotten’ that the 3 big blows against Trump by the Dems have all come up completely empty and much of it is actually falsehoods by the Dems.

I love it when Punchy gets giddy. He was so happy that the first military raid launched under Trump was a disaster with our troops walking into an ambush. Proof that Trump is incompetent! Died soldiers or not, Punch was giddy. Never mind that the operation was planned and conceived and given the go ahead by the prior Administration and the Pentagon was all on board. Yep, Punch was giddy. Rooting for a collapsing economy back in 2019. Very giddy. Punchy got real giddy on national tragedies under Trump.

Prior to today, I would’ve likely have voted for DeSantis for president. I thought that Trump had served his purpose by exposing corruption and starting to get control of our autocratic government. Today I would run through a hell of gunfire in order to vote for Trump just to punch these totalitarians in the face. I don’t care what trump did or what he will do. This big government control ends and trump will get rid of all of these morons to get even for us.

How would it be possible for this raid to have been accomplished sans gunfire without giving the Secret Service advance notice? Also, regardless of what is found in the boxes, do they not have to prove that Trump himself packed the boxes in order to prove intent and that he knew every document that was in them? What stops them from slipping in a compromising document into one of the boxes once they have them back at the FBI? I’m guessing that the real reason for this action was to give the Dems something that they can drag out long enough to prevent Trump from running in 2024.

Better to wait and see who is running and what they stand for and how electable they are.
Not saying I wouldn’t vote for Trump, just that I’m not going to blindly tear things up and split the coalition so the Dems can win again. We need a house cleaning and it won’t be easy seeing how there are a good number of Rs who are probably compromised and will cave to the Dems.
Mitt and Graham are worthless – DeSantis sounds good as long as he talks about FL. Haven’t heard a peep from him on the natl scene esp concerning the Fibbies.
The Dems and the left are praying for a violent uprising in order to take total control. I hope we don’t give it to them.

Simple – you show up at the gate and display the court order. You give them the 30 seconds to contact whomever and they realize it’s legit and they stand down. I’m sure the ratio of Feds to the SS was 10 – 1.

But there have been no smoking guns or smokin’ hot documents. Garland sent 30+ agents, many if not all with automatic weapons, to look for some smokin’ hot documents that are overdue in the national archive.
They’d better have found some that make this more than a problem with overdue books from the county library. President Biden, what were they? Pick one from the stack that were seized to illustrate what was worth sending armed agents to your predecessor’s home to search for nine hours, and tell the country.

In courts of law, yes. The court of public opinion, however, provides no such protection and the prog/lib/lefty/dems know that they need only the latter to accomplish their goals. This is why neither the Mar-a-Lago raid nor the 6Jan committee hearings need to produce indictments or even cite any potentially violated laws.

Fairly severe fish say 5-10 years. To chant that while illegally busting into the Capitol is actively threatening to kill the Vice President as part of a mob.
