The number of political icebergs that have gashed this presidency has gotten hard to track.  The only thing that is now obvious to all, especially to Democrats, is the irreparable amount of damage this president and his administration have brought on themselves.  But before we’re too hard on this incompetent Bumblebrain, we should also acknowledge that the “responsibility for the public failure of this government lies with the Democratic Party.”

The case for this is made clear, concise, and complete by nationally prominent WSJ deputy editor Daniel Henninger in his 14jul22 column ‘Joe Biden’s Sinking Presidency’.  The main factor corroborating the Oval Office disaster is that the lamestream media – e.g NYT, WaPo, MSNBC, CNN, … – are daily clutching their worry pearls in the public fora for what they now label Biden’s “lame duck presidency”.  Led by his own party, no one wants him to run in 2024, and more every day want him to resign early for ‘mental health reasons’ – the ‘mental’ part going unsaid yet understood by all.

As if to fully accept that assessment, the man continues to deny being responsible for any of the massive mess in which he and his have mired the country – he lives in la-la land and that is finally being recognized by progressives.  “RootsAction, a group aligned with Bernie Sanders, is planning a #DontRunJoe campaign.”

That’s the good news.  The bad news is that the Dems’ Plan B is Kamala Harris, a kackling black woman having served her purpose and since then shown demonstrably unqualified for any conceivable task required in public office, let alone producing the work products of the West Wing.  Her early ascendancy will cause major heartburn to Govs Newsom (CA) and Pritzker (IL) who are already circling the White House after having put paid to two of the most prominent shithole states in the Union.  They each are ready to do the same to our beloved Republic.

So, with 2 of 3 Dems wanting someone besides Biden for 2024, over 9 of 10 under 30-something explicitly saying they don’t want Bumblebrain to run, and 7 of 10 Americans telling everyone that the country is headed in the wrong direction, it’s hard to see how the Democratic leadership will allow ol’ Joe to even finish his present hitch let alone sign up for one more.  The Left has always had more than one way of ridding themselves of dogs that don’t hunt.

My guess is that after the smoke clears Newsom will emerge as the Dem candidate in ’24. He is not by the way my personal choice. My fingers are crossed that Trump will be the Repub offering which would insure an easy win for Newsom since Trump is the biggest loser in modern history having lost the Presidency, House and Senate in four years.
Trump will announce soon and begin fundraising and will make millions of dollars conning the helpless Repubs out of their money and diverting the money to himself and his family as he did during his phony “stop the steal” campaign.

I mean it’s only been a decade …..you know where I will include text from someone else’s post so when I respond everybody will have a little context as to what I’m commenting on without having to scramble all over the comment thread looking for it! And you know…put your words in italics (which frequently upsets our genial host as I’m prone to leaving the html unfinished) to set it apart from my response.

Newsom is a good bet for the ’24 ticket not because he can win but because the Dem roster is so weak and aged.
After biden, having executive experience will return to the short list. Governors not senators or congresscritters.

Turns out going green is toxic –
The problem is, when solar panels end up in landfills, “components that contain toxic heavy metals such as selenium and cadmium can contaminate groundwater.”
This is an example of how environmental policies can have unintended consequences. “The looming challenge over how to handle truckloads of contaminated waste illustrates how cutting-edge environmental policy can create unforeseen hazards down the road,” she said.
The Times reported that “as California barreled ahead on its renewable-energy program, focusing on rebates and — more recently — a proposed solar tax, questions about how to handle the toxic waste that would accrue years later were never fully addressed.”
“Now, both regulators and panel manufacturers are realizing that they don’t have the capacity to handle what comes next,” she continued.

Its nice to know the lemmings are running faster toward the electoral cliff this year =
The Washington Post amended columnist and CNN host Fareed Zakaria’s Thursday opinion column after it received fierce backlash from the left for pointing out the Democratic Party is too preoccupied with “pronouns” and gender ideology over issues most Americans care about.
By Friday evening, The Washington Post had changed the headline of his piece from its original title, “Forget Pronouns: Democrats need to become the party of building things,” to simply “Democrats need to become the party of building things.”
Zakaria’s headline and argument that getting “stuff done” is “a lot more important to most Americans than using the right pronouns” angered leftists

“I didn’t hear that particular phrase,” Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir told Fox News’ Alex Hogan after Biden’s trip to the region had concluded. “The President mentioned that the US is committed to human rights because since the founding fathers wrote the constitution and he also made the point that American presidents — this is part of the agenda of every American president.”
Biden told reporters on Friday that he had told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that he believed the Saudi leader was responsible for Jamal Khashoggi’s murder in 2018.

    Tru dat –
Sokol, who is also the chairman of the board of the Atlas Corporation, pointed to multiple causes of our current economic crisis, which he noted has only been exacerbated by “perhaps the most incompetent presidency, vice presidency and cabinet in the history of our country.
Sokol remarked that shutting down the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic “was clearly misguided” before pointing out that the Biden Administration’s decision to spend $2 trillion was done “with no thought as to why they were doing it.” He continued, saying that in order to fix the crisis “we’ve got to reduce the money supply in the economy.”
Sokol also criticized the left’s approach to energy policy, remarking that they have “taken us from being independent energy wise to being totally subservient to external forces,” which in turn has “created an inflation that is very dangerous, and it has got to get under control or the average American is going to pay an enormous price for these these misjudgments.”
Sokol blasted the Biden administration, saying that “We have an administration that basically is entirely identity politics,” also asking, “who actually is making these decisions?” Sokol continued, “it’s clearly not either president or vice president… I think the American people need to know that.”

Taxpayers’ dollars to game the system against the interests of citizens –
The arrangement lasts until March 2023 but can reach as high as $983 million if renewed until March 2027, the agreement shows. This appears to be the largest federal contract Vera has secured for immigration-related services for any single year dating back to the mid-2000s. [Emphasis added]
The Vera Insitute, meanwhile, is propelled by taxpayer-backed government grants and contracts like the one it secured in March. Between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, $152 million of the group’s $191 million in revenue came from government sources

Can you say, “shithole”? Good. I knew you could. Recommended.
‘California’s Energy War on the Poor’
California continues to implement policies on energy, housing, and transportation that are anti-poor and anti-working class.
    https://quillette.com/2022/07/11/californias-energy-war-on-the-poor/
“What has happened in California is a warning for the rest of the United States and the rest of the world. Kotkin, who I quoted at the top of this piece, has become one of the loudest and most-frequent critics of California’s decline. In April, citing a report he co-wrote (with Marshall Toplansky and three others) for Chapman University, Kotkin declared that California is in the midst of an “existential crisis, losing both its middle-aged and middle class, while its poor population faces dimming prospects. Despite the state’s myriad advantages, research shows it [is] plagued by economic immobility and inequality, crushing housing and energy costs, and a failing education system. Worse than just a case of progressive policies creating regressive outcomes, it appears California is descending into something resembling modern-day feudalism, with the poor and weak trapped by policies subsidized by taxes paid by the rich and powerful.”
“The punchline here is obvious: For decades, regulators and politicians in California—a state that is a pillar of the Democratic Party as well as the home of US vice president Kamala Harris and the home of America’s biggest climate-activist group, the Sierra Club—have been implementing a skein of policies, nearly all of them tied to energy and climate, that are blatantly anti-poor and anti-working class. Yes, California is a fine place to be rich. But Californians who aren’t rich have seen enough. And now they are voting with their feet and with whatever U-Haul truck they can find.”

It’s a long way to Temporary.
‘There’s nobody suggesting there’s unchecked inflation on the way—no serious economist.’
“Exactly one year ago today, on July 19, 2021, President Joe Biden delivered a momentous address on the state of the U.S. economy. The speech, in retrospect, was a chilling portent of the economic calamity that has befallen this great country as a result of Biden’s failed leadership.
Biden’s remarks came several months after Democrats rammed through the $1.9 trillion package known as the American Rescue Plan. Some experts had warned that injecting so much money into the economy could lead to runaway inflation. The White House scoffed at such concerns. At the time of Biden’s speech, prices were already beginning to rise. The president took the opportunity to tell Americans to stop complaining.”
