[Millions of workers are in their hammocks enjoying govt checks and depressing the labor participation rate to 62.3% from 63.4% at the end of Trump’s administration during which time it was increasing for the first time since the 2008 Great Recession. Yes, during the entire ‘Obama recovery’ more and more people were leaving their jobs. The participation rate includes worker with jobs and those actively looking for jobs. This makes the cited 3.6% unemployment rate a hokey statistic; millions more are sitting on their butts enjoying govt handouts while employers are looking for workers and paying excessive wages to those working. These high labor costs are another one of Biden’s Blunders which contributes to our soaring inflation. Bumblebrain has given new meaning to ‘loser’. gjr]

More from Ann Coulter about what a fraud Trump is
” Most stunningly, Trump blew off the signature promise of his campaign: the wall. While he was busy sucking up to Wall Street, Kim Kardashian, RINOs, Silicon Valley, the gun-grabbers and illegal aliens, not one mile of wall got built.
He finally got around to the wall his last year in office. Total new wall across a 2,000 mile border completed during the entire Trump presidency: 47 miles.
Yeah, it’s a total baffler how a president who spent four years ignoring his base could have lost.”
Oh Yeah of course. Mexico was going to pay for the wall-another Trump lie

The ‘Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program’ was started by Trump and Biden only boosted it a few months. It all ended in Sept which was around 10 months ago. Very week response. Can you do better?

Direct quote fro your link:
Federal unemployment benefit programs under the CARES Act ended on September 4, 2021. You will no longer be paid benefits on the following claim types for weeks of unemployment after September 4:
Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)
Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)
Pandemic Additional Compensation (PAC)
Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC)
Note: Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED) benefits are no longer payable for weeks of unemployment after September 11.
The federal government does not allow benefit payments to be made for weeks of unemployment after these programs end, even if you have a balance left on your claim. Any pending payments for weeks of unemployment before the expiration of benefits will be processed retroactively if you are found eligible and did not receive conditional payments. You will be notified about what to expect based on your claim type.

Not Brit Nat Health, but Kyrgyzstan Nat Health to the rescue.

“Researchers believe they have discovered the origins of the Black Death, more than 600 years after it killed tens of millions in Europe, Asia and north Africa.
The mid-14th Century health catastrophe is one of the most significant disease episodes in human history. But despite years of research, scientists had been unable to pinpoint where the bubonic plague began.
Now analysis suggests it was in Kyrgyzstan, central Asia, in the late 1330s. They chose the area after noting a significant spike in burials there in 1338 and 1339. Dr Maria Spyrou, a researcher at the University of Tubingen, said the team sequenced DNA from seven skeletons.
They analysed the teeth because, according to Dr Spyrou, they contain many blood vessels and give researchers “high chances of detecting blood-borne pathogens that may have caused the deaths of the individuals”.
On another note – though Dr Tony Fauci is said to be quarantining at home, word on the street is that he was seen among a group of oral surgeons on a charter flight to Wuhan. Wonder what he will be doing there?

Median household savings are about $5,300, which will not last long. There are 130M US households averaging 2.6 people/household. If the govt is not helping pay those households for food and lodging through its various programs, then what are they eating and where are they staying out of the cold and rain? The deniers of govt welfare then have to explain how (130M/2)*2.6 = 195 million Americans are making do.

Median household savings are about $5,300…”. Hmm. That’s about how much the average household will pay each year more due to inflation. Or was that the individual’s inflation tax? People have been saving up during the pandemic and with extended unemployment benefits. They can surely afford to buy their own food and cover the extra $470.00/month due to the Biden Economic Disaster. Easy peasy. Small businesses and their customers can afford it, right?

BT @ 7:21PM re “A Life Worthwhile”
The author, an economist, left me hanging on his expository article. I was looking for concrete (2+3=5), rather than for a philosophy of how the concept of addition may contribute to integration into a foreign society.
He never used the words ‘religion’, ‘Muslim’, or ‘black’ anywhere in his article, though he does refer to ‘Middle East’ and ‘Africa’. His avoidance of trigger words certainly triggered me.
“Often you will be able to learn these jobs quickly, so long as you have the right character traits, such as self-discipline, social skills, motivation, a good work ethic, perseverance, reliability, and emotional stability.” Gosh, those traits sure sound like white European (WASP) traits. It’s not clear that he contacted the Middle Easterners and Africans to get their thoughts.
“The challenges and contradictions that arise from extensive social exclusion, and the demands for change that follow from rapid technological development, are politically very difficult to handle.” Well, the challenges may have been easier to handle if you left the immigrants in their birth country & be a burden there.
Final review – he has no proposal to convince the immigrants to accede to his thoughts on how they can conform to Swedish life. I fear Sweden is closer to losing control of their country than I thought.

There was one point the author mentions, that I think has merit:
“We should move our focus from today’s one-sided emphasis on redistributive justice versus social mobility. Instead, we should talk about CONTRIBUTIVE (emphasis is mine) justice — that is, the individual’s right to contribute to the common good based on their skills and abilities. For this to happen, our perception of what constitutes a contribution must change. Any salaried job that adheres to national workplace norms should be regarded as valuable and worthwhile.”
I’m not sure why our perception of a contribution must change, but the idea of a contribution of/by oneself certainly fits into WASP values. Unless you spit on WASP values of course.

re Efox 745am – We have much discussed the greater topic of ‘multi-kulti’ in these pages as it applies to mass migrations from shithole countries. The west’s Left knows that Angela Merkel’s final assessment of Germany’s experience with open immigration – “Multi-kulti does not work.” – is correct, and therefore promotes it as a useful social strategy to weaken western cultures that create wealth and maintain freedoms through the practice of open market capitalism. There is a lot more to be said why it is difficult (impossible?) to establish open market capitalism as a wealth engine in most of today’s third world countries.
