    Random thoughts and conspiracy theories surrounded Elon Musk:
    Suppose, if you will, Elon does not intend to buy Twitter but rather to destroy it. His probing about bots on Twitter is meeting resistance from Twitter’s CEO and board, resorting to name calling by the CEO. Ok, what raw nerve did Musk poke?
    Elon said that half of Biden’s followers are bots. Twitter said 5% of its Twitterers are bots. That was based upon a sample of just 100 randomly chosen subscribers. 100 out of million. Musk wants to see those figures and replicate them with another sample of 100 randomly chosen subscriber. Replication is a scientific method to test the validity of results, right? Need to know this stuff before Elon completes the deal with Twitter. Sounds very fair to me.
    Twitter filed with the FEC that 5% of its subscribers are bots. If the CEO and/or Board knew that figure was not true, then they have committed criminal fraud. A fraud filing to the SEC would tank the company. Destroy it. Massive shareholder lawsuits, massive investor lawsuits against the company will follow suit.
    Already the stock is tanking on the news that more that 5% are bots. 7% does not sound like much more that 5%, but it is a hell of a difference in numbers and company value than 5%. Works apart.
    If half of Biden’s followers are bots, that would be 50% of Twitters followers are bots and fake accounts. As Musk said, that would be ten times the 5% of bots according to the company’s FEC filings. Twitter will not revel their research that arrived at the 5% number and all hell could break out if the 5% is proven not accurate.
    So, Musk offered an outrageous offer for Twitter than no group of investors could match
    , then turns around and watches the stock fall to a much lower price that he (or another group) could swoop in and buy the whole enchilada.
    Is Musk’s plan to destroy Twitter, not own it? Revenge? And this does not just affect Twitter. Google, You Tube, FB and other social media outlets could see their share price tank if advertisers were also given false numbers of real subscribers.
    Revenge? Is Musk that smart? They should have never messed with the Babylon Bee.

    It’s true. COVID is a plague of the elderly. And try as they may after searching thousands upon thousands of animals and places in China, there was been no missing link found to explain how the Wuhan Virus jumped from animals to humans. It’s a miracle!
    To add to the miracle, the bats found in the entire region are very poor carriers of the Chop Suey so not even good for lab experiments or use by researchers.
    Maybe someday science will find the source of the animal to human carrier, but it has yet to do so. Maybe it’s those particular bats found 1,000 miles away that were sent to the Wuhan lab run by the former Chinese military bio-weapons head honcho that may shed some light on the open air fodd market. It’s safe to eat bats again. :).

    I’m trying to figure out just what ‘The Union’ is.
    So far as I can tell, it’s a standardized layout from the mothership and contains a mix of bought content (comics, crossword, Dear Abbys, etc.), various Emily Litellas giving the right/left what fer about once a week (for free no doubt), ‘columnists’ and other submitted columns (for free no doubt) and a couple of stories by ‘staff writers’….all in a narrow format that’s trivial compared to the wall of text that olden days papers used to have.
    Oh yeah, the online version has a micro version of Twitter with about a half dozen posters, not dissimilar to here except for the shorter bon mots and the excessive amount of censorship. It would surprise me if you could make a business case for turning on comments.
    Dunno if anyone from the paper ever goes to a City Council meeting, calls up local business people, tracks down a hot lead.
    I don’t think it’s a particularly bad local newspaper, I just think we’re seeing the death of an art form.

    Paul, here is the way it works, in a normal world-
    ****Person A makes a statement; THEN person B makes a rebuttal. In your world, person B (The Atlantic) makes the rebuttal on April 01, 2021; then Berenson references the NIH/Moderna study trial paper in his article on May 19, 2022 – emphasis- one year LATER than the rebuttal. I’m pretty sure that isn’t the normal way debate works.
    Alex Berenson merely pointed out that an interesting pre-print (from the NIH & Moderna 30,000 person on-going trial) doesn’t produce a full viral immunity after getting a vaccine, since the vaccine only provides immunity from the spike protein, not the entire (core + spike) that an infected person gets. Berenson merely referenced the results of an NIH/Moderna trial . It is the NIH/Moderna PAPER that has the relevant information in it. Berenson is simply the messenger, albeit a year AFTER the rebuttal.
    Chance of your understanding this time-travel conundrum – less than Joe Biden’s polling numbers.
