   That damned COVID. It’s like a bad Liberal. Just can’t get rid of it.
   Another day spent at the hospital. The Doc was wondering how I even managed to stay upright this long. (would have killed Emery weeks ago) Yes, that Chinese batshit soup is a real bitch. Lungs gone to shit(just a lot more than usual) Even pneumonia has been hanging on for two months now. Didn’t have a clue. And this whole time, been working 40+ hours a week.

   It’s a combination of sad (elder abuse) and a little frightening (some Presidential staffer will convince his addlepated boss to make the wrong move in Ukraine). Normally you can just outwait these people in office, but both domestic and foreign policy are a bit friskier than usual.

   I like the idea of the air and missile campaign in unoccupied Ukraine for another reason besides those given in the article. It’s probably a good mechanism as a shielding action for a Russian land move into Donbas and keep the Ukrainians stirred up while it’s going on. The idea of leaving things to threaten in place (in the article) is a strong one I think.
   Oh well, it’s hard to know what’s going on. It’s above-my-pay-grade complicated and news is sparse.

    Oh my. Pneumonia? I don’t fear Covid one bit. What I fear most is pneumonia. Don’t know if I could live through another bout of pneumonia. If I did survive another bout, I would lose whatever strength I have left and be good only for a couple hours a day for the remainder of my days. Seen it happen before to tough 82-83 year old men who could out hunt, out climb, and out work 50-55 year old men in shape. They couldn’t keep up. Once the elderly caught the old people’s pneumonia, they can’t even do simple yard work no more.
    Damn it Walt! You can knock out pneumonia at the first sign if you went to old sawbones and got some antibiotics and a week of rest. But, nooooo. Well, neither did I. 3 weeks of pneumonia so bad I was literally blacking out in coughing fits at work and never missed a day. I twice came to on the office floor…..after hours and no witnesses. Yep, worked long overtime days all through that last one. Doc gave he a test and it showed I had the breathing capacity of a 90 year old man. Left too much scar tissue.
    Don’t do that again Walt or….or…..I will scold you worse than a Karen. Stop it!
    BTW, the new word for ‘Karen’ is ‘Neil’. I kid you not.

    While overall the Truckers for Freedom is not much more than a weekend event in the bigger picture, I do cheer them on. The sacrifice these truckers and fellow soul mates made just to get to Ottawa is quite the sacrifice. Diesel ain’t cheap, time away from work, driving for days from the Northwest Territories to Labrador to have their voices heard.
    Consider that Canada has only one continues highway that runs East to West (Hwy 1) and that 90% of the Canadian population lives within one hundred miles of the US border. To come off the beaten path to make it to Ottawa is amazing in January. In Ontario, folks were lining the road with the outside temperature at 0 degrees Fahrenheit. At night the temps dropped to minus 30, minus 67 with wind chill and there the locals were, setting off fireworks in the frozen ground to cheer the truckers on.
    Yes, it was just a weekend event, but got the Government shaking in their boots. All web cams around Ottawa were ordered shut down a couple days earlier to keep the news (video cams) from leaking out.
    Watched a live interview with the Minister of Security with Canadian Broadcasting Corp (CBC) and both the network and the Minister were parroting the official government line. The Minister kept repeating that there was a truck flying a Confederate flag….like it was his major talking point and reason all the security apparatus from local LE to the Mounties to the highest levels of surveillance were on high alert.
    It is unfortunate that one truck heading from BC had a rebel flag. They were using that one truck to paint the entire group from near and very far as….you know……right wing raycess fringe who do not represent Canadian values. Sound familiar.
    The press release from the government said “thousands”. Not tens of thousands, not hundreds of thousands, not the 1.5 million the government was bracing for. Just “thousands”.
    The most underreported story of the Trump era was that 200,000 Canadians marched in the streets in either Montreal or Toronto in support of Donald Trump. 200,000 in one city on one day…..buried. That’s Canada.
