On the final day of the challenge, the calendar offered a “personal action plan sheet” for students to track their progress on the issue from an individual perspective. Directives given on the sheet include suggestions, such as to “donate to causes that support the Black LGBTQ+ community,” “join a Black Lives Matter or an affiliated protest” and “donate to bail efforts supporting people arrested for protesting against injustice.”
Previous days of the calendar were similarly progressive, including offering white privilege checklists, lessons on the gender spectrum and the “microaggressions” of meritocracy.

FYI: The reason folks in Puerto Rico have not rebuilt there homes/shacks is because the government of Puerto Rico has allowed thousands upon thousands of people to squat on other people’s land (private property) for years rather than deal with the housing problem. FEMA and HUD are there to help….but if you want a loan or grant or assistance to rebuild, first thing they ask for is proof you own the property on which your home stands. That’s why folks in Puerto Rico still have tarps over there humble abodes. It would be like squatters on my or your property (hypothetical) getting federal assistance to rebuild on their abodes on your land.

I was considering all of the grid-based solar panels stuck around the county. You can make a case for a fully off-grid setup if you are willing to pay the big bucks and have a good need for it (or it’s just a hobby), but why have a batteryless solar panel in Nevada County?
. It’s an area that’s not incredibly sunny year ’round, has trees, has some snow.
. Why not just buy a fraction of a great big commercial panel set somewhere in the desert? (that’s not a bad idea for company if PG&E was cool with it using the current sellback rules).

My guess is that that whole business of selling power back to the utility companies, which you know darned well they don’t want to buy, is somehow tied to home real estate. No doubt you could build a big ol’ solar facility and sell at wholesale market rates, but that’s a different issue.
Now…maybe there’s some trickiness that could be done where the underlying fraction of the solar facility has property also owned by the homeowner as a workaround? Probably not.
It’s just another example of the government forcing a solution that is suboptimal. It isn’t like a roof in the Sierras is the right place for a grid-based solution. There’s no economy of scale and it’s not in the right region.

I was in there for five hours, answered every question they asked,” Patel said in an interview aired Wednesday on the John Solomon Reports podcast. “Because I have nothing to hide, and I want the truth to come out.”
“And let me just say this. They didn’t even bring it up, I don’t recall, the timeline. I had to submit it to them and the Inspector General, I had to submit to them. And I was prepared to go in depth into those documents. And we scarcely spent a minute or two on them in those five hours.”
Patel said what surprised him was that congressional investigators seemed to want to spend more time on Biden’s bungled Afghan withdrawal and the plans the Trump administration had left behind to end the war, as well as the U.S. force posture in the terrorist haven of Somalia.
“Again, I call for the testimony, for the transcript to be released,” Patel said. “But I can say this, we spent less time talking about Jan. 6 and more time talking about Afghanistan, Somalia, and other matters.
“I had to prepare extensively, at a great personal cost to me and my legal team, to talk about everything Jan. 6. And, you know, you’d have to go back and ask the committee if they asked for the truth about what happened about the events around the 6th. I’m not sure what the withdrawal in Afghanistan and the true force posture in Somalia have to do with any of that.”
