So Yellen says she’s really, really upset about IRS files being stolen and then she says this:
“Just to be clear: we do not know the ProPublica information came from the IRS. That hasn’t been established.”
Could some one please ask her where else IRS files would come from?
Oh yeah – Project Veritas wants to know when was the FBI raid on the folks running ProPublica?
They can’t even tell an intelligent lie anymore.
But then again – sadly – there’s little need for it to be intelligent.

Of course in the salons of the rich socialists and the coastal lamestream lapdogs its the little red books truth –
Democrat policies are meant to make things more difficult for the average American: Skyrocketing energy prices are a feature, not a bug, in Biden world. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg himself said that high gas prices will make more Americans buy more electric vehicles. Jen Psaki hinted that higher prices on all products will make American consumers consume less. Biden’s chief of staff retweeted affirmatively an assertion that inflation was a high-class problem. Democrats used to look out for working-class voters. Now, they despise them. That contempt has not gone unnoticed.
Democrats don’t care about fighting crime: Murders are up in almost every major city. Looting is common-place in both high-end boutiques and low-brow Home Depots. Shoplifting is no longer a criminal offense in many big cities. The Democrats, stuck between the defund-the-police crowd and the American people, have largely ignored the issue. When they talk about it at all, most on the left blame the 2nd Amendment for the uptick in homicides and talk about white privilege as the underlying cause of the uptick in petty crime. Some leading lights of the left even cheer on crime as striking a blow against the white patriarchy.

“Democrats used to look out for working-class voters. Now, they despise them. ”
I’ll put forth an alternative theory.
‘Democrats’, by that I mean Blue Mob activists, dream of everyone living in solar-powered cities filled with bike paths, cradle-to-grave housing, food, medical regardless of lifestyle choices by everyone. The rest of the world is a beautiful wildlife park with no untoward changes in weather. Top o’ the heap Democrats want safe beachfront mansions (who doesn’t, really?).
So how do you achieve the dream? Even if you remove policy choices from the hoi polloi’s wishes by more centralizing there doesn’t appear to be much motion in the desired direction.
Answer? Destroy existing systems and use the chaos and degradation as a tool to rebuild in a desired direction. If you remove nuclear, natgas, coal, oil from energy production, hopefully you arrive at the ‘right’ answer. Beautiful government-sponsored housing not available for everyone? Put so many homeless people on the street that we are forced to build the ‘right’ answer. Don’t favor all of the special ethnic groups? Decriminalize crime until you cede the public sphere and commerce to them.
There’s probably a word for it in Russian, from the Revolution, for the idea. Destruction is a helluva lot easier than building, and once you are upset or destitute enough, you can be guided to a naturally occurring ‘correct’ answer.
The working class isn’t despised, it just needs to get it’s mind right.

France on the Verge of Civil War
The rise of Éric Zemmour.

Dovetail:
“Today Zemmour released a video declaring his candidacy for president, and I’ve heard comparisons (including from a French student in my political science class this semester) comparing it to Charles de Gaulle’s famous July 18, 1940 radio broadcast pronouncing the cause of Free France amidst the nation’s collapse before the German army. For our readers who understand French, the video is at the bottom—but even if you don’t speak French I recommend watching it for a few minutes to take in how powerful it is.

“Just to be clear: we do not know the ProPublica information came from the IRS. That hasn’t been established.”
So now you have two hyper-political groups with access to those records. The IRS and ProPublica.
Really, is that worse than just the IRS holding them? (assuming that the weren’t purposefully given out in order to attack certain individuals).
In both cases, the organization is allowed to target particular people for punishment. It isn’t like the leaked records were in turn made public (so far as I know), the guy who was known for that is named Assange and is carefully kept in the subdungeon of a secret policeman’s lair. Information is power and ProPublica wants it as much as the IRS. The short term goal of taxing wealth in addition to income is besides the point.
Given the upcoming lack of privacy, and it isn’t like it’s listed in the Bill of Rights, you can imagine the machine put together at the IRS. The aim is to track all financial transactions, no matter how small, and that can be pasted together from private and public sources. For all I know they have a direct line to that Alexa device in your house and keep track of your physical location via modern wifi devices. There’s likely no turning back on this one, especially given the newfound ability to parse the data.
So what do you do? Maybe one answer is some kind of radical transparency. The power doesn’t come from the information so much as the control and centralization of it. Musk should simply post his tax returns every year and not care about blowback.
Either that or a cabin in the woods.

Mr. Михаил Горбачёв liked to use the term ‘perestroika’ (перестройка = restructuring). Sounds way more genteel than ‘destroy’.
That policy has been tied, on and off, to the break-up of the Soviet Union. Maybe try a different term for use in the U.S.
How about “like duckpins”? I believe that was the term shouted by that evil red SUV that, on its own, plowed through those folks at the Christmas parade in Waukesha recently.

Notable quotables from Trey Gowdy, Ted Cruz, Eric Swalwell, and more.
Insight: “I can scarcely contemplate a greater calamity that could befall this country, than be loaded with a debt exceeding their ability ever to discharge. If this be a just remark, it is unwise and improvident to vest in the general government a power to borrow at discretion, without any limitation or restriction.” —Robert Yates (1738-1801)
“Prosecutors knew that [Darrell Brooks] had a lifetime of violence and bail-jumping and disregarding the law, but Wisconsin prosecutors recommended a $1,000 bond. … And now, six body bags later, prosecutors finally concede that bond was too low. We already know that. $1,000 was too low when you set it. Now, after six people are dead, and dozens more injured, you set the bond at $5 million. So what’s different now? He was a career criminal before he killed six people at a Christmas parade. We don’t need prosecutors to react after there are six bodies laying on a parade route; we need prosecutors and politicians who prioritize public safety beforehand.” —Trey Gowdy
“[Darrell Brooks] should not have even been on the street. [He] had clear, anti-white animus. And this was an intentional act. And it seems like, you know, for corporate press, they’re more apt to characterize a parent who goes to a school board meeting to protest bad policies as a domestic terrorist than somebody who intentionally rams an SUV into a crowd of innocent people.” —Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Friendly fire I: “Let me be clear, Oakland needs more police. We have been interrupted by staffing reductions, COVID interrupted our recruitment and training processes, and the defund rhetoric is challenging our ability to attract and retain recruits.” —Oakland, California, Democrat Mayor Libby Schaaf
Friendly fire II: “I don’t know that the travel ban makes sense. I don’t know that it’s that different because he’s banning people from African countries and we know that this variant is not only in South Africa, and South Africa has some of the world’s best scientists and epidemiologists and I think that’s why they found the variant there. This variant was found in Israel, it was found in Belgium, it was found in other European countries. Why aren’t there bans from those countries? Why just Africa? I think that has to be called out.” —”The View’s” Sunny Hostin
“Dr. Fauci, I think, is the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country. You know, he talks … about hurting science. I don’t think anyone has hurt science, has hurt the credibility of the CDC, has hurt the credibility of doctors more than Dr. Fauci because throughout this pandemic, he’s been dishonest. He’s been political. He’s been partisan. And and the American people know it.” —Senator Ted Cruz
Non compos mentis: “I’m losing my Covid patience. I’ve tried to reason with the unvaxxed. I’ve directed some to medical pros. I don’t judge but hear them out and steer them to facts. The unvaxxed love to say it’s about choice. But you know who doesn’t have a choice? My 3 kids under 5. … The looney carnival barkers at the school board meetings DO NOT reflect where most parents are. Your unvaxxed status is creating new variants. So get your damn shot. Or, stay inside your house. But don’t mess with my kids.” —Congressman Eric Swalwell
What could possibly go wrong? “It’s time to admit that we have to go to war against COVID. Require vaccination universally. Have the military run it. If you don’t want to get vaccinated, you better be ready to prove your conscientious objector status in court.” —CNBC’s Jim Cramer
But hey, it could always be worse… “You can now see family and friends again in their homes, and use the bathroom, inside. Luxury.” —New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern
Judicial intimidation: “I hope the Supreme Court is listening to the people of the United States because … I think if you want to see a revolution go ahead, outlaw Roe v. Wade and see what the response is of the public, particularly young people.” —Senator Jeanne Shaheen
Thanks, Captain Obvious: “We tend to use [the word transitory] to mean that it won’t leave a permanent mark in the form of higher inflation. I think it’s probably a good time to retire that word.” —Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell
The BIG Lie: “Right now, sending your kid to preschool in the United States costs around $8,600 per year. Under my Build Back Better Act it will cost $0.” —Joe Biden
Grand delusions: “Thanksgiving is about gratitude. In 2021 it’s Biden supporters and liberals who seem grateful for America, for American institutions and ideals, for the American way of life. It’s Trumpists and today’s conservative movement who seem to be bitterly lacking in gratitude to America.” —Bill Kristol
Hardly in better hands: “Our role is not to be bound by the First Amendment, but our role is to serve a healthy public conversation and our moves are reflective of things that we believe lead to a healthier public conversation. The kinds of things that we do about this is, focus less on thinking about free speech, but thinking about how the times have changed.” —new Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal last year
Belly laugh of the week: “It’s time to stop demonizing ‘invasive’ species: Climate change is forcing some animals to move. Don’t call them ‘invasives.’” —Vox’s Marina Bolotnikova
And last… “It’s not hard to imagine that the day will soon come when the radical left begins touting abortion as a tool for managing population growth as the Chinese Communist Party has done for decades.” —Mike Pence

If you were wondering why the name Omicron sounded familiar, perhaps it’s because you’ve heardit before on the hit series ‘Futurama’ created by Matt Groening. That’s right, the new COVID variant was named Omicron, which is the 14th letter in the Greek alphabet and initially didn’t sound threatening at all. However, those who have seen Futurama are fully aware that the main antagonist comes from a planet named Omicron Persei 8. His name is Lrrr but it’s really pronounced ‘Lurrr’. Twitter users went crazy as soon as the World Health Organization made this name public. There are all type of reactions to this new name that all ‘Futurama’ fans find familiar.

Creepy grampa joe and the socialists have taken hispancics for granted to long and their policies have driven them to team R –
The now-former spokesman for District of Columbia Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser told Fox News on Wednesday that President Biden’s tenure in office has led him to change party affiliation and also to vote for GOP businessman Glenn Youngkin in the off-year gubernatorial election in Virginia, where he resides.
Victor Jimenez told “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that his political shift was not a small decision, adding that he was until recently the “lead public information officer at [Bowser’s] office for community affairs” and previously in a similar role for Latino outreach.
Jimenez, who is an Afro-Dominican immigrant according to a tweet from the DC Office of Latino Affairs, previously told Spanish-language network Telemundo that “Biden turned me into a Republican” and that the president has “destroyed the economy.”
The reason I switched parties is because of everything that’s going on in the country right now. We see immigration through the roof right now and that is affecting a lot of Hispanic families in my home state of Virginia,” Jimenez said. “And those are people who are already struggling with making ends meet.”
we also have bad people coming into the country with bad intentions. People with illegal guns and drugs and people who are running from their law enforcement in their own country.”
Carlson replied that, in the Democratic Party’s strict categorical hierarchy, the assumption would be that Jimenez would both continue to be a Democrat and additionally be supportive of illegal immigration.
“Being Hispanic and Black, I should be Democrat by default,” Jimenez replied. “But I am going against their narrative and I feel like right now everything is crumbling for the Democrats.”
He referenced Youngkin’s defeat of former Gov. Terry McAuliffe as “the beginning of the end” for the party and a potential precursor to a GOP landslide in 2022.

…and, quick as a wink, the normal suspects pull the lanyard on their crazy. I mean, no one can consider opening a high school version of a Great Books college like Thomas Aquinas. That’s bypassing the commissars after all…
“I wonder how many members of Congress who claim to be solid Christians, yet perpetuate lies, attack other members with ethnic names and twisted cartoon tweets of murder, and back down from standing up for what is right, attended Christian schools? ” – Cheryl Cook

I would suggest St. Leibowitz Academy as an alternative, but you can tell the value of a thing from it’s detractors. A lot can happen in the organization of a system as complex as a school, but it’s worth considering how to help any effort of this sort.

As an educator, Rich Howell decries your all too accurate description of his former sinecure…….as an educator.

I attended Catholic high school and university. I studied Chesterson and Merton. I read scripture and the Beatitudes and learned how to apply them to modern day social issues. I studied 4 years of Latin, Logic, Religion, Literature, and Chemistry. Then four more years of Religion in university before Graduate School and finally teaching in Catholic schools.
….and yet Cheryl remains ever the empty-headed progressive dunderhead embracing every failed nostrum. So much for that vaunted Catholic education.

Topic, no links. The fertilizer shortage outside of the US. Fertilizer means food….and bio fuels.
China has stopped exporting its fertilizers (nitrogen, potash, phosphates) to take care of their domestic needs first. Same with the former USSR, aka, Russia. Europe needs fertilizers to go food. In the Western Developed countries of Europe, some countries rely on imported fertilizers to grow their food to feed the masses. “Three missed meals leads to Revolution.”—author unknown.
In the USA, a massive country, some of the fertilizer shortages are due to factories being shut down during the China Virus from Wuhan. Some face labor shortages. About 18% goes into the bio-gasoline mix grown in the farm belt, as required by law. All these food staples need fertilizers. Sure, one can skip the fertilizers for a year, maybe two, but the yields will be smaller and thus lead to more food shortages. But, the real story is happening in Europe, Eurasia, Vietnam, etc.
The Biden Administration got on its high horse and banned exports from Belarus, along with Canada and the UK. Belarus two main products that give it access to foreign currency is oil and potash. The UK for some reason exempted potash from the Belarus sanctions, lol. The UK has been importing potash from America since the early Colonial times; once the biggest export from from the New World to the Crown.
Not surprisingly, the EU has weakened its sanctions on Belarus to exclude potash and/or just knock down the percentages they receive (imports from Belarus) a
some. Belarus cut off Poland. Oh my. Each individual EU country must make sure they have enough fertilizer to take care of their own…first.
I wonder if Europe and other countries feel ‘food insecure’ yet?

re: Potash. That’s interesting stuff. Apparently there are details to the economic war underway that make sense to somebody, potassium levels in potash fer example.
Economics warfare uses banks as weapons of course, as a person looking remarkably like a surprised member of the Team America World Police cast informs us.

My suggestion is a full-court press of a boycott of Belarus plus forward basing nuclear missiles and the freed-up troops from Afghanistan in Ukraine (along with Meal Team 6 from the Bundeswehr). That should help along Washington’s need for more excitement.

During the 6 Day War when Israel demolished the Egytian Air Force and even Kissenger was pleading with Israel to stop advancing on its enemies.Later was the ensuing OPEC oil embaago and gas lines in the news. Seems all of the media was talking about the wars over oil in the future.
Every talking head except one. He said the big war in the future will not be over oil, but food. He went on to say there is enough water soluble potash (potassium) in the Dead Sea to feed the world.
Israel and Armageddon? Food over oil, Whether that happens or not, I have always remembered that lone voice crying in the wilderness. Potash? Go figure.

The left and the Dems must be pretty pleased a white kid shot up a high school. No more need to explain an SUV carelessly harming some people out in the street.
The gun nuts (the folks that are insane and want to pass laws about guns) wasted no time in climbing on top of the bodies to appear to be of higher stature:
“He went on to call the footage “absolutely terrifying to watch”, adding, “All of those kids who fled that violence, all of those kids who now don’t think of school as a safe place, they are going through trauma and will go through trauma that will take a lifetime to address.””
No, Virginia – he’s not talking about Chicago or Philly or any other large metro run by Dems – shootings in those places are just part of life we need to get used to. We’re talking here about white children in a mostly white suburban mid-western town.
But.
He has the answer – actually – no, he doesn’t.
“Murphy acknowledged that the expansion of background checks would not have necessarily prevented the school shooting…”
Actually, it wouldn’t have at all.
“I don’t claim that this proposal nor any other proposal to change the nation’s gun laws will have an effect on every single shooting” but argued that expanded background checks “saves lives, decreases gun violence, [and] decreases violent crime”.
So – it doesn’t work on any actual circumstance they can name, but by god, by some pixie magic it will work! Quick question – what’s the tally on school shootings where the various presidents had their kids attend? Oh, that’s different. OK.

“The Kamala Conundrum—Why Dems Are Stuck With Her”
” So, the only possible way out is for Biden and the party to swap her for another black female. ”
You really just have to laugh sometimes at how tribal humans are. In-group favoritism is a thing and physical differences (followed by things like culture and speech) make a lot of evolutionary sense. We are seeing the opposite of that right now in a few quarters, but it’s a passing phase. There’s some deep mental circuitry being tapped here.
I wish I had a long enough lifespan to see how the destruction of color-blindness as public policy plays out (it’s racist after all). I can guess how the prison rec yard part forms up (ie. just regular people), but not sure how their lords and masters, the metastasized version of prison administration called government and business executives, will clique up.
Two central questions (to me).
. Does diversity always lead to competing teams? What is the social glue in states with diversity?
. Will the issue of the day move from blacks plus allies vs. everyone else to an all against all fight for status and resources?

McDonald says the gun used in the shootings at Oxford High School was purchased by James Crumbley a week ago and given to the boy,…saying earlier that their actions went “far beyond negligence.”
