   I still vividly recall when I first met Ahnna Haynes… in a Broad St. Cafe. I was having a lovely chat with a friend (a defrocked commercial pilot who used his forced time on the ground as a bon vivant favoring bourbon) laughing over the Climategate email revelations, only to have this stranger interrupt our festive recounting to offer remedial instruction in climate science if we wanted to wade out of the primordial pool we were splashing in.
   I asked her the basis of her knowledge and she said “I have a PhD, from Harvard “. I had to ask what subject, she said biology.
   She had a real deer in the headlights look when I gave my bs physics/ms ee bona fides and began sharing my interpretations of climate realities… she ran off soon after.

    More election irregularities –
    Now, Berlin’s state Constitutional Court will need to decide if elections will need to be redone in two districts of the city, the western Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district and the eastern Marzahn-Hellersdorf district.
    Berliners were forced to wait for hours at polling stations that ran out of ballot papers, with the Berlin marathon causing delays in bringing more ballots. Many voters reported receiving the wrong type of ballots, and it is claimed that loopholes allowed minors to vote, according to state broadcaster Deutsche Welle.
    Lolita Cigane, the head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation (OSCE) in Europe’s election-monitoring team, said that approximately ten per cent of polling centres in the city experienced voting irregularities, or 207 out of 2,257 stations.
    Berlin Election Commissioner Petra Michaelis, who resigned last month following the polling day chaos, said that violations of election regulations could have impacted the results of the state election.

    In the category of “how stupid are Texans anyway”. In response to the new Texas law aimed at “presenting both sides to the story” (like ‘good people from both sides were at the Charleston white supremacy march or CRT tries to rewrite white history) school administrators in South Lake, Texas told teachers that they had to present both sides to the Holocaust. Why question is: What is the other side to the holocaust? Is it ‘it never happened’..’the Jews and gypsies deserved it because they were not Aryians. How fuc*ing stupid of a position is that? sort of like the election was stolen.

    This much is clear: Although they are extremely vocal, Democrats who support the “defund the police” movement hold views that are frankly frightening to the majority of Americans across the ideological spectrum. If a progressive stronghold like Minneapolis effectively votes to dismantle its police department, it will send shockwaves across the political ecosystem and deliver Republicans a powerful talking point.
    Minneapolis will be seen as a city of lawlessness, and Democrats will be blamed. This is a narrative arc that will feed perfectly into the Republicans’ framing that Democrats just aren’t that good at governing anyway.
    Need more proof? Republicans will just point to Congress. Despite controlling both the executive and legislative branches of government, Democrats’ internecine dysfunction has already stalled President Joe Biden’s domestic agenda. Coupled with the Biden Administration’s disastrous handling of the military withdrawal from Afghanistan on the foreign policy front, we can see an entire party already bracing for severe voter backlash in 2022.

    Bonin, L.A.’s most progressive city council member and self-proclaimed social and environmental justice warrior, tells us that climate change is an existential threat, but you wouldn’t know it from his inattention to local trouble spots. The nearby Ballona Wetlands, an ecological gem and state-protected park, has become a locus for shootings and other crime and is now home to a makeshift RV camp, with more than 45 RVs illegally parked there. A recent brush fire at the wetlands required nearly two hours and 54 firefighters to extinguish, destroying more than five acres. It’s doubtful that any fires in Bonin’s district can be attributed to climate change.
    Fires, pollution, and disarray are increasingly common not only in Venice but also around Los Angeles.     Well, you could see that coming. That’s the beauty of public jobs, there’s so much largesse to be handed out. Nothing new except for the modern scale of the thing.
    The fact that a Marxist founder of BLM is a member of the ruling class should be no surprise to anyone. With the new centralization of power in this country, given surveillance and the growth of monopolies, I don’t see turnover anytime soon.
    I think that our local Team Blue being on the same ‘side’ as the 17 intelligence agencies and the internet monopolies is a beautiful thing, but I honestly doubt they see the irony.
    Gotta keep an eye on just how much Patrisse Cullors makes at her gig, some of them do pretty well.
