[If the US was being damaged even a tenth as much as claimed by foreign state-sponsored rogue hackers demanding money, and we did nothing, then we are over as a sovereign nation-state. Rebane Doctrine calls for 10:1 retribution on the infrastructures of such sponsoring states; none of this crap about ‘balanced’, 'measured', or ‘proportional’ responses that we might take some day when we really get pissed off. We’re playing with thugs who worship and understand only force – it’s time to up the ante and convince Russia and China that the price of cyberwarfare just went up. Gjr]

There are accusations Barry but you as an attorney know the difference between accusations and legally presented evidence. Anybody can accuse anybody of anything. Do family members of Presidents of high level political figures cash in on family connectons? Sure they do. What else in new. Then you get sleazy operations like the Clinton Foundation but there appears to be nothing illegal in that at least enough to have a criminal investigation. So to sum up about Hunter Biden is say what’s new-ho hum.

WHO’S PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN?
I don’t know whether these poll data are reproducible, but they are interesting. Most people, first of all, are proud of being Americans. That is a good thing. Conservatives are most proud, but 87% of moderates are proud to be Americans, too.
Hispanics are slightly more proud to be Americans than whites, but Asians, for some reason, are less proud in this survey. Maybe it is a fluke, or maybe quite a few Asians are angry at being discriminated against by institutions like Harvard and Yale, and many less renowned organizations and public bodies.
Basically, the only people who are not very proud to be Americans are “progressive activists.” That, plus Generation Z–no doubt a reflection of our unbelievably bad education system. Those groups are vastly over-represented on Twitter, where journalists and Democratic Party activists go to assess the mood of the American people. Which explains a lot.
Here are the numbers:

As President Joe Biden completed 100 days in office, the country was optimistic about the coming year, but now, just after hitting the six-month mark, Americans’ optimism about the direction of the country has plummeted nearly 20 points, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds.
A majority — 55% — of the public say they are pessimistic about the direction of the country, a marked change from the roughly one-third (36%) that said the same in an ABC News/Ipsos poll published May 2. In the early May survey, Americans were more optimistic than pessimistic by a 28-percentage point margin. Optimism is now under water by 10 points. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, fewer than half — 45% — now report feeling optimistic about the way things are going, a significant drop from about two-thirds (64%) in the May poll

PaulE 815am – “Do you really believe the ‘one hundred police injured’ story? this is from unnder oath testimony concerning the incident,”
“These were among the claims laid out in a scathing statement Wednesday by Gus Papathanasiou, chairman of the Capitol Police Labor Committee, the officers’ union, in response to the acting chief’s disclosure Tuesday that her department had “failed” to protect the Capitol from a pro-Trump mob attack. Nearly 140 officers from the Capitol Police and the D.C. Metropolitan Police departments were injured during the attack, Papathanasiou said.

Two firefighters loaned to Washington for the day said they were the only medics on the Capitol steps Jan. 6, trying to triage injured officers as they watched the angry mob swell and attack police working to protect Congress.
Law enforcement agents were “being pulled into the crowd and trampled, assaulted with scaffolding materials, and/or bear maced by protesters,” wrote Arlington County firefighter Taylor Blunt in an after-action memo. Some couldn’t walk, and had to be dragged to safety.
–
Even the attackers sought medical help, and Blunt and his colleague Nathan Waterfall treated those who were passing out or had been hit. But some “feigned illness to remain behind police lines,” Blunt wrote.

The memo is one of hundreds of emails, texts, photos and documents obtained by The Associated Press. Taken together, the materials shed new light on the sprawling patchwork of law enforcement agencies that tried to stop the siege and the lack of coordination and inadequate planning that stymied their efforts.

WHO ARE THE TWO BIGGEST SCOUNDRELS AMONG DEMOCRATS?
I don’t know. That covers a lot of territory. But if we limit the inquiry to very famous Democrats, the answer might be Andrew Cuomo and Hunter Biden.
They have much in common. Both are sons of very famous fathers. Neither, in all likelihood, would have become prominent but for what their fathers accomplished. That’s certainly the case with Hunter Biden.
Both are the subject of sex scandals, albeit of somewhat different sorts. Andrew Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment by several women who worked in his administration.
Hunter Biden apparently was a fixture in the VIP lounges of various D.C. “gentlemen’s clubs” where, allegedly, he did crack cocaine with strippers. One stripper says he fathered her child.
And both Cuomo and Biden are under federal investigation.
Cuomo got off the hook to some extent last week when the Biden Justice Department dropped its investigation into COVID-19 deaths at New York’s state-run nursing homes. This was (or would have been) a civil rights investigation under CRIPA, the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.
I don’t know whether the DOJ’s decision not to press forward with this investigation was justified. For all I know, it might have been. However, I have no confidence that the Biden DOJ made this decision based on the law and the facts. More likely, the decisions was based on politics.
Cuomo is not home and dry, however. Federal prosecutors apparently are still investigating whether the Cuomo administration obstructed justice in its response to a Justice Department request for information about nursing home deaths from the Wuhan virus. I discussed that matter here.
In addition, according to this report, federal prosecutors in New York City are believed to be investigating a state policy in March 2020 that pressed nursing homes to accept COVID-positive residents.
I suspect that the feds will decline to prosecute Cuomo. However, he must still worry about investigations reportedly being conducted by his political rival, Letitia James, New York’s attorney general. She is said to be looking into the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo, as well the $5 million he received in exchange for writing a book about the state’s COVID response.
As for the Hunter Biden investigation, mum’s the word (as it should be at this point). I would be surprised if anything comes of it while Joe Biden is president, but we’ll see.

PaulE 1237pm – Neo-Marxism is the 21st century version of Marxism espoused and practiced in the radical wing of the Democratic Party by individuals such as Sanders, Warren, the Squad, …, and organizations such as BLM and Antifa. Neo-Marxism is a common concept long discussed in centrist and conservative literature and media, and completely blacked out in the leftwing lamestream media. Save in academia, the notion of social orders labeled Marxist are still noxious to most Americans, therefore the label cannot yet be connected with the Democratic Party in the public forum. You, of course, given your media consumption proclivities, have most likely never heard of neo-Marxism, hence your query.

I wanted to know Walts definition so I could understand the context as to what he’s talking about. So it sounds like Neo-marxism may or may not have any connection with Marxism (capitol letter) as described by Marx. So according to you anybody can be a Marxist if they believe in Social Security or health care for all for example. How about my friends in Denmark? Are they Marxist because they support the Danish Government with high taxation and free education for all?. Pretty much free through a bachelor degree. The rest depends on your academic achievements. Here you have to go into massive debt unless you are from a privileged family.
