White supremacist hysteria has reached fever pitch among the progressive socialists.  Commenter BillT @ 835am cites (here) the dean of Arizona State University who announced that characteristics of precision, timeliness, quality expression (e.g. good written English), good work ethic, etc are all part and parcel of “white racial habitus” which perpetuates “white language supremacy” which means “it’s inherently white and racist”.  By the dean’s logic, then ‘black racial habitus’ that perpetuates black behavioral characteristics is inherently black and racist. (more here)

Covid science and disinformation is discussed by Dr Scott W Atlas MD, Hoover Institution senior fellow, former professor and head of neuroradiology at Stanford.  He recently gained a furious notoriety in the eyes of all Democrats and their lamestream lackies for serving as a C19 advisor to President Trump.  In the Feb 2021 Imprimus he asks ‘Science, Politics, and COVCID: Will Truth Prevail?’  I cite his short and very informative essay as another cogent summary of my own stance on the nature of the C19 pandemic and the various disastrous government response policies to the disease.  From all of my readings (also see below), the clear answer to Dr Atlas’s question is NO!

Fact-checking the fact checkers.  Today it is easy to make the case that media giants are “employing left-wing vetters to limit scientific debate”.  The work of fact checking by leftwingers primarily focuses on cherry picking a supporting counter-opinion report or two and using it to dun any scientific opinion that does not support the command/control narrative prescribing government diktats opposing federalist responses to the C19 pandemic.  The whole enterprise of fact checking is based on the Mega Lie that science speaks but with one voice.  The ‘one voice’ chosen by the ‘progressive health clerisy’ is then labeled consensus science to which all the hoi polloi must kowtow when thinking properly about such politicized issues as global warming and C19.  For more, see ‘Fact-Checking Facebook’s Fact Checkers’.

[7mar21 update]  Islam's goal in/for America.  Over the years in these pages I have been very clear and explicit about my assessment as to the objective of the Islamic diaspora, especially as it is directed toward America and its western culture.  The fundamental task of all expatriate Muslims is to be missionaries and bring the infidels into the embrace of Allah and his prophet Muhammad, to whatever destination they emigrate.  Practiced as a temporary and necessary ruse, assimilation into their host country’s culture is the last thing on their mind. Here is a video of a talk on Islam’s goal for America given by a very sober Muslim woman – Download Received_938000470288815. (H/T to correspondent)

George Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose and NOT due to police brutality.  The four policmen involved followed the training book and policy to the letter as attested by a continuous police bodycam video (here).  The 31may20 autopsy report showed that Floyd had almost 3 times a potential lethal dose of the drug in his system, and that he was already dying of fluid filling his lungs when the police encountered him.  The real question is why this information was kept until 25 August after three months of looting, rioting, and murder across the nation.  And given the overwhelming evidence, why are the policemen still being tried for doing nothing wrong?

[11mar21 update]  Nevada County Trembles.  The Board of Supervisors failed to pass an already lame and vanilla resolution (here) that asks Sacramento to behave more responsibly and competently toward Nevada County.  Along with other small rural counties, we have gotten screwed by the policies foisted on the state by Gavin Newsom.  I, along with many other local citizens, have encouraged the supes to step up and make our voices heard – to wit we want more local control of our C19 responses, and we don’t want to get screwed by the state in its distribution of vaccines, federal funds, etc that are supposed help pay for our pandemic related expenses.  It turns out that at last Tuesday’s BoS meeting, the supes were too timid to pass the proposed resolution, and instead they tabled it.  When are we finally going to get the courage to make a simple peep to protest the crap that keeps coming down from Sacramento?

Eugenics is alive and well in the socialist dem party, you know that the vast majority of that 400 BILLION will kill babies of color. You have to wonder if they are trying to do better than the 6 million the germans did? So how many babies can you slaughter for 400 BILLION? How much will planed parenthood kick back to their legislative lackeys’ the world wonders? –

MSNBC’s Joy Reid sparks outrage by saying conservatives would ‘trade all the tax cuts in the world to be able to openly say the n-word’ – after claiming Texas was reopening because white people want black people back ‘making them steaks’
“Mraz, who posted the images claimed to be from Reid’s blog, said the new articles ‘had nothing to do with Republican hypocrisy on gay marriage. Joy also opposed gay marriage at the time. She gleefully accused people of being gay and posted a number of questionable things.’
In one post to her defunct blog, Reid reportedly defended Tim Hardaway after he was accused of homophobia.
‘Most straight men feel exactly the same way, and would have the exact same reaction to the idea of stripping naked in a sweaty locker room in close quarters with a gay teammate,’ she wrote.
‘Most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing.’
In the post, Reid admitted she did not go see the movie Brokeback Mountain despite her sister’s ‘ringing endorsement.’
‘I didn’t want to watch the two male characters having sex. Does that make me homophobic? Probably,’ she wrote.
The tweet immediately following that post includes the following language, attributed to Reid:
‘Part of the intrinsic nature of straightness is that homosexual sex is… well… gross,’ she wrote.
At the time, Reid also faced alleged revelations that she seemed to think 9/11 was either an inside job or the fault of Israel.
Fox News host Sean Hannity came to her defense in 2018, after the tweets were revealed, Deadline reported.
‘I am a believer in the freedom of speech for all Americans. I am also a believer in second chances. And as someone who believes in forgiveness, I have to say, we have fallen short,’ Hannity said.
He continued: ‘It’s good to see Joy (who is no fan of mine) starting to take responsibility for her past remarks.’
‘My suggestion is that she follows up with the groups and people who she offended, and learn from all of this. Her apology should be accepted, and she should be given a chance to make it right, and not fired,’ Hannity said.
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9328609/MSNBCs-Joy-Reid-says-conservatives-trade-tax-cuts-world-use-n-word.html
Hmmm. The difference between the right wing racists R’s and the Left is forgiveness. The Woke is synonymous with Unforgiven.
Keep the n word all for yourselves, you punk gangster wannabe rap artists and give be two scoops of tax cuts.
    ———-
“Reid also this week said Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., the Senate’s lone Black Republican, was present at a GOP press conference opposing the Democrats’ proposed minimum wage hike to present the “patina of diversity.”
On a network known for its left-wing bent, Reid stands out with her vitriolic attacks against conservatives, and some of them have a racial tinge. In November, she called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as “Uncle Clarence,” a clear reference to the “Uncle Tom” slur for Blacks viewed as too deferential to Whites.
Reid also was forced to apologize in 2018 after her homophobic, anti-Semitic, and conspiracy theory-laden blog posts from the 2000s emerged. Despite her controversies, Reid is a face of the network, leading its political coverage in 2020 and getting promoted from a weekend program to a nightly primetime slot.”

    JUXTAPOSITION
It is now leftist orthodoxy that any disparities you can measure between groups are evidence of racism and white supremacy, and that “equity” requires equal outcomes, not equal rights. One reason today’s race-mongers say it is no longer legitimate to treat people as individuals can be grasped by comparing these two news stories from earlier this week involving the educational outcomes of two black teen boys, one in Baltimore, and one in Atlanta.
“….. Finally, for more than 25 years Charles Murray has been attacked by everyone who doesn’t actually read his books for pointing out that the differences within groups on things like standardized tests are more important than differences between groups. We see this clearly here in the examples of Tiffany France’s son and Caleb Anderson. And we see also why it has become necessary for the race-grievance industry to suppress the traditional principle of treating people as individuals—and holding government accountable for its catastrophic failures like urban public schools.”
    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/03/juxtaposition.php
Throwing more billions at schools (as per the C-19 Relief Stimulus) is not going to bring relief or stimulus to any student stuck in our public school systems. Hire more school counselors and therapists. Need more diversity training . Increase the staff. Right… That will only slap some salve to mask the real problem.
Best quote I read recently. Maybe it was from Larry Elder or some rich black dude or black commentator he has on his show. “I never in my entire life looked at a white guy and thought he is superior to me. Not once.”

Essay. First Nations people make up 2% of the university population
‘How a Single Anonymous Twitter Account Caused an ‘Indigenized’ Canadian University to Unravel’
“Widdowson (who isn’t Indigenous) has been criticized for casting doubt on the value of Indigenization. Yet her new book, which she intended as a catalyst for debate about a subject that many scholars are afraid to critique, also contains several essays that support Indigenization initiatives. Moreover, Widdowson’s target has never been Indigenous people or scholarship per se. Since gaining widespread notice in 2008, Widdowson’s critiques have been directed at what she originally called “the Aboriginal industry”—the white lawyers, consultants, academics, activists, and politicians who profit as go-betweens and “allies” in the service of Indigenous groups, with varying degrees of sincerity.
In Indigenizing the University, Widdowson describes several unsettling public spectacles at her own campus, in which administrators showcased Indigenous consciousness-raising sessions about supposedly sentient rocks and shape-shifting animals. It is unlikely that this material will help Indigenous students gain career-track jobs in growth fields such as engineering or health care. The main beneficiaries are more likely to be privileged administrators who burnish their bona fides by filling alumni magazines and email blasts with Indigenous photo-ops.”

PaulE 1142am – It may surprise you, but there is nothing per se wrong about killing birds with “impunity”. You have to make the additional case that the killing (species, number, …) is somehow not in the best/better interest of people. Until you do that, Biden is still batting zero. And were you to convince anyone of the benefit of Biden’s re-interpretation, then its impact in the overall scheme of damage the man has already caused would be negligible.

Daily quotes go here today….just because. Mostly off the topics presented on this edition of Ruminations.
Mea Culprit. Sundry and various opinions:
Insight: “The truth is that, to many people calling themselves Socialists, revolution does not mean a movement of the masses with which they hope to associate themselves; it means a set of reforms which ‘we’, the clever ones, are going to impose upon ‘them’, the Lower Orders.” —George Orwell (1903-1950)
Upright: “The moral revolutionaries will come with rhetoric designed to lead your institutions into full retreat and surrender. They will tell you: ‘Think about how many more students your school will be able to teach if you adopt our policies on gender and sexuality.’ They will coerce you with, ‘We will not partner with your ministry if you continue to hold these convictions — so, in the name of serving others, just abandon your beliefs about homosexuality and transgenderism.’ We can understand this argument and the realities of this kind of pressure. This pressure, however, is a recipe for the absolute dissolution of Christianity in the United States. It is an attempt to erase our witness not only in the public square, but even within the confines of our own ministries.” —Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President R. Albert Mohler Jr.
Political futures: “The Republican Party, we are a working-class party now, and we are a blue-collar party. … The Democratic Party today is the party of wealthy elites on both coasts. It’s the party of big tech and big business.” —Senator Ted Cruz
For the record: “[Alexandria] Ocasio-Cortez’s rhetoric implies that there is something artificial about a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour but nothing artificial about a minimum wage of $15. This is ridiculous. The only nonartificial minimum wage is zero — which, incidentally, is what the 1.4 million people the CBO says would lose work due to a $15 national minimum wage will be making if AOC’s side of the argument wins.” —David Harsanyi
Observations: “President Joe Biden, never known for his eloquence, lambasted [Governors Greg] Abbott and [Tate] Reeves for making a ‘big mistake’ and succumbing to ‘Neanderthal thinking.’ But federalism is a stubborn thing, and Uncle Joe has no say in how Texas and Mississippi exercise — or don’t exercise, as the case may be — their ‘police power’ regulatory authority over their respective citizenries.” —Josh Hammer
Friendly fire: “Give me an old-fashioned bigot, because I think at least they have a level of respect that some of these guilty white people who are … professing white guilt. I find them disgusting. To me, it’s liberal racism, because you’re treating people as impotent children. I can confront malice with violence. I can’t confront folly.” —civil rights icon Bob Woodson
Non compos mentis: “This message of ‘acceptance’ does not acknowledge structural power imbalances. It doesn’t address the idea that historical narratives impact present-day power structures. And instead of encouraging young readers to recognize and take action against injustice, the story promotes a race-neutral approach.” —an assessment of the Dr. Seuss classic “The Sneetches” by the corrupt SPLC’s leftist orthodoxy in education outfit, Learning for Justice
Dumb and dumber: “We [China and the U.S.] have two very different cultures, and we have two very different perspectives on the world. That’s not to say one perspective is better than the other.” —HHS nominee Xavier Becerra in 1997 (Becerra further asserted, “It’s not so much that they don’t agree with us. It’s that they look at things differently.”)
Braying jackass: “I’ll say it again: people on the right would trade all the tax cuts for the ability to openly say the n-word like in ‘the good old days.’ To them, not being able to be openly racist and discriminatory without consequence is oppression.” — MSNBC’s Joy Reid
Alpha jackass I: “[Texas Republican leaders] literally want to sacrifice the lives of our fellow Texans for, I don’t know, for political gain, to satisfy certain powerful interests within the state. And this isn’t hyperbole.” —Beto O’Rourke
Alpha jackass II: “It’s hard to escape the conclusion that [the Republican Party is] also a cult of death.” —Beto O’Rourke (And the abortion-obsessed Democrat Party isn’t?)
And last… “It wasn’t until [Governor Gavin] Newsom was threatened with a recall election that he backed off his strict edicts and began allowing 40 million Californians out of their basements. Now he says there will be full attendance at the Dodgers home opener. What a difference 1.8 million signatures on a recall petition make.” —Michael Reagan

The impacts of the killing of birds should be determined as part of the process of making that decision in advance. This leads to the question of our responsibility to preserve the earth for future generations. The ol’ seventh generation wisdom that our native cultures practiced that we seem to have ignored as more and more species of plants and wild life are being destroyed because of human greed.

Using a gun during a commission of a crime is a one way ticket for deportation. Thus, the State of CA changed its laws to NOT align with Federal law so that illegals using a gun would not be charged as using a gun. Knives are the same as firearms.

Walt @ 9:32 am: that’s what Emery calls “the Blue Wave.”
Looks like won’t be hearing from our left wing socialist SJWs much anymore. Disney just pulled Dumbo. Have you ever seen a crow that was not black? I mean, that stereotype of crows is problematic only in La La Land.

“A new poll suggests that 50% of likely voters are “not very confident” or “not at all confident” that Joe Biden “is physically and mentally up to the job of being President of the United States,” versus 48% who are “very” or “somewhat” confident.”

Too many nuggets to list. Here is a couple, taken from mid-paragraphs.
“….. Viewed through the lens of the new radicalism, anti-Semitism is really anti-colonialism, and anti-colonialism is really antiracism in its most distilled form. Which means it cannot be anti-Semitic, and if you say it is, you’re anti-antiracist. Which is the worst thing anyone can be.”
“…….Those who questioned the charges of racism leveled against the questioners were told that free expression was a white privilege, something that only beneficiaries of systemic racism could afford to care about. They were told that they, too, were racist. Soon, nobody wanted to be associated with the questioners, or the questioners of the critics of the questioners. Soon, nobody wanted to say or post anything that could be viewed as racist or racist-adjacent or just insufficiently antiracist: How can we really know what millions of people think about other people’s skin color? Are differing outcomes necessarily evidence of systemic racism? The discourse melted into a stark, boring canvas of good and evil. Nuance was racist. Everything outside the parameters of the new radicalism was racist. Few stepped outside those parameters. That would be bad for one’s brand.”

That’s the discredited Rasmussen Poll you cite Walt. They are double didgets off the polling averages of accepted polls. Go ahead and believe what you want. They are the only poll even close to supporting you.

🤣🤣 Emery!!! It’s only “discredited” when you don’t like what they have to say. Yet you use it when you think it’s good for you.
But DO show just “whom” is discrediting it. You know,, a full list of names…

All it takes is mentioning a “poll”,, and Emery comes up for air.
Yet Emery won’t even dare say if Chancellor Biden is fit for office, nor say what Biden has done to better the nation.(we already know it’s a national dumpster fire)
COVID Emery? Nope,, Trump did it.
