Recalling Gov Gavin Nuisance.  The 'Recall Newsom 2020', and similar movements, reported last week that they had exceeded the 1.5M signatures needed to put the recall proposition on the ballot of a special election that would be scheduled for sometime this fall.  Many thinking Californians and millions across the country agree that Gavin has been a disaster for the state – for openers, bungling the C19 response and exacerbating policies that have accelerated our Great Exodus.  Almost everything he touches turns to crap.  These signature counts have been reported by NBC (here), FN (here), and Newsweek (here).  But that news don’t make no never mind to leftwing columnists like our Union’s George Boardman who confidently reports (here) that only 600K signatures have been collected.  Who still says that you can’t have your very own facts to support your own opinions?

[update]  A correspondent writes me that, “After two months of elected officials across the country saying that there is no need to verify signatures from the 2020 election, one politician is clinging to this very process to salvage his career. Governor Gavin Newsom of California is now seeking to ensure that all of the signatures collected in the effort to oust him be verified thoroughly. What changed? Is the integrity of one public vote more important than another?”

[17feb21 update]  Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk show host, dead at 70.  RIP.

Recall Newsom numbers.  From the comments below, George Boardman’s quietly outdated number claims are deemed correct by none other than the indominatable Steven Frisch himself.  Frisch asserts that Boardman’s couching of “…backers have submitted less (sic) than 600,000 of the 1.5 million valid signatures they need…” makes it clear to readers that to date the signature gatherers are woefully short of the number needed by St Patrick’s Day.  What he seems to ignore is that Boardman’s hopeful report was based on cited data collected and validated by 6 January 2021.  At that time the statewide cumulative summary consisted of 723,886 signatures received by the SecState, of those 485,650 signatures were put through a validation process, and of those 410,087 signatures or 84.44% were accepted as valid.  Over a week ago the various ‘Recall Newsom’ organizations reported that over 1.5M signatures had been collected.  If that validation rate holds, then last week’s expected number of valid signatures numbered about 1,266,600.

All this means that a total of at least 1,776,410 signatures need to be collected to meet the 1.5M valid signatures requirement.  And I'd bet the ranch that today there are at a minimum several hundred false flag leftwing activists out there filling petitions with invalid signatures.

[18feb21 update]  To put a ribbon on my take of Mr Boardman’s column, IMHO he wrote the usual gleeful leftwinger's report of another insipient and pending failure of California’s GOP.  To get the desired message across, he cited a grossly dated summary of gathered and validated ‘recall Newsom’ signatures – a very dynamic process, especially in its closing months – that appeared to intend a miscommunication.  Believing Boardman’s prognosis, the lightly-read reader of his column would walk away thinking that no way in hell could the Repubs get enough signatures to put the governor’s recall on the ballot.  At a minimum, such commentary cum reporting was not valid in any sense of the word.

BTW, the most recent report from the 'recall Newsom' organizations cite collected signatures well above 1.5M, with the intention to bring that total to 2M so as to insure that more than the required 1.4M+change signatures are available for validation by CA's SOS.  We shall see.

Earlier in the week, as many as eight million residents in the south-central part of the country and even in Mexico were without power after a freezing winter storm hit the region.”
Since Texas is a Repub state,, why would any lib give a shit?

As you well know, George, some of the camps were just displaced civilians, but some were up to 80% Nazi soldiers. Tell us which camp your family was in and we can easily look up in-depth studies done on who was there and where they came from. But you already knew that.
And Wally, I wasn’t the one who ‘implied’ anything about the usage of the word Herr. The word itself is a sign of respect, so it’s obviously beyond your visceral comprehension. I get the feeling that you’ve never traveled much. Wonder why. Oh, and kudos on the purposeful misspelling to show you’re a man of the people. Keep it up; it’s one of the few amusing things about you.

Definition ‘fascist’. On Bob Crabb’s blog I asked a simple question about the Left’s definition of fascist, and got a load of shit in response. But there RobertC, who also graces these pages, stepped up to respond with, “Here is one definition of a fascist that fits the bill. A person who believes and supports a far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power and forcible suppression of opposition. Add bigot, misogynist, elitist, and just plain asshole and you have a very accurate description of Rush Limbaugh.”

fish 521pm – I would take a more pragmatic approach about RobertC’s ‘thinking’, simply because he is an archetypical leftist and that there are tens of millions of them within our borders who hate our guts. Furthermore, they demonstrate daily that they wish us harm, and their long term plans for us are downright scary. We want to be separated and don’t want anything to do with them; they do not want such a separation and would rather have their way with us. For all those reasons I believe it’s important to know what they think and their disposition toward us. I don’t want any of us to be blindsided.

Lets have some hard hitting examples when, where, and by whom.

Can you say Facebook? How bout Twitter?

Along with the high school, located in the 1200 block of W. University Avenue, Felan and Yousif are accused of setting fire to a Goodwill store, in the same block as the school, and 7 Mile Sportswear, in the 500 block of W. University.
Charges filed last summer against a third defendant in the torching of the school, Mohamed Hussein Abdi, provide the most specific details yet to be disclosed about that alleged arson and Felan’s alleged involvement.

    George,
My point isn’t whether your family had Nazi collaborators or not, I couldn’t care less. I find it much more interesting that your family most likely came to America as WW2 refugees, which was an act of compassion on our part and is counter to every word you write on the subject. And if your family did come here as refugees, it makes one question why families like mine, who have been here since the early 1700’s, should take any of your xenophobic ramblings seriously. It’s the black hole in the center of your pseudo-intellectualism and draws into question whether you truly understand what being a patriot of this nation actually means.
So, you can take your political advice on how our nation should be run and shove it; we are a society with over 240 years of shared sacrifice and we don’t need your empty platitudes to “fix” what we’ve been successfully doing so long without your misguided opinions. Drop the crayons and step away from the Constitution; you are nothing but a distraction from the real issues of the day.

And someone who takes pride in his family coming here centuries ago must never question the wisdom of newcomers whose every written word is a rebuke of the historical American way of doing things. Rebanes’ every comment seeks to snuff the flames beneath the great melting pot of our society. Every thought that’s put to print is negative; stop this, change that, ridicule these, reject those. You can’t shame a sociopath. This Newsome’s recall effort sure brings out the worse in people. Or, it is most likely just lefties being their natural bigoted prejudiced anti-women selves trying to institutionalize racism.
Wonder what those crazy white women think of immigrants, people who don’t talk like C. P. Yeh, remember the bad john or jon (lowercase) smith? He called Melania a slut….that’s right, an dumb immigrant slut. That immigrant FOTUS was soooo dumb that she spoke five languages, and of course, being an immigrant, English was not her native language. Spoke English better than the Scots and Aussies, that’s for sure. At least one could understand her and communicate quite well with others. Bill Clinton was upset that an immigrant kicked his dreams of becoming the first First Husband to the curb.
And , oh boy, the Lefties went totally coo-coo when that immigrant woman booted Michele (with the beautiful arms) out of the Obamas’ public housing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave…and took her job too boot.
Let’s see what Ammo Girl has to say about immigrants and that woman. Let’s circle back.
‘Ammo Grrrll provides the intriguing title WHERE THERE IS NO MAN.
“But, oh, the excitement, the drooling publicity, that smug face on the cover of every magazine! Heretofore sane women waxed poetic about the First Lady’s arms. And some certifiable journalists, some with Advanced Restless Leg Syndrome, and others trying to ratchet up the obsequiousness, compared him to God, if only God had had the foresight to wear trousers with a nice crease. The excitement built to a fever pitch when the Obamas planned a Date Night out! But that paled in comparison to the anticipation when the First Family was going to get a dog. That story was milked for over two weeks – what breed of dog? What would the dog be named? (Bo.) And so on, and so forth, for eight tedious years.
In 2016 the All-In Democrat Legacy Media next geared up for The First Woman President. Now, unfortunately, the Woman they were fixin’ to crown was a carpetbagging Senator, a Secretary of State who had failed to protect American citizens abroad, and a nasty piece of work with a slight drinking problem who called half the electorate Deplorable. Half! Not even to mention that the last time she occupied the White House, she and her husband-like substance had turned the Lincoln Bedroom into an Airbnb for bigshot donors. She lost.
And so the winner, winner, chicken dinner, Donald J. Trump, and his family moved into The White House. The new First Lady was a beautiful supermodel with impeccable taste in clothes, considerably more photogenic than, oh, ANY of the previous First Ladies, and should have been considered somewhat interesting in her personal journey from a child in Slovenia to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. But, no. There was a RICO-worthy agreement by every media outlet to avoid “normalizing” this family. No covers for the cover girl. It was to be attack, attack, attack, like a pack of rabid Dobermans only without the classic Doberman charm.
Melania’s Christmas decorations were bad; she wore HIGH HEELS to a disaster site (changed on the plane); she borrowed some language from speeches written FOR (certainly not BY) previous First Ladies. Her “Be Best” campaign wasn’t nearly as good as the “Eat Arugula and Play Outside for an Hour, Fatties” campaign of Michelle Obama. NOTHING Melania did was ever good enough. Psychotic Twitter twits called for her rape, and the abuse of her young son. Yet, somehow, she never once shot anyone at a news conference.
There was an election in 2020. A senile kleptocrat and bar-failing VP of some beige-ish tan color who captured 4 percent of the Democrat primary were elected, more or less. And here comes the first puff piece and cover from People Magazine, whose articles are reputed to be the exact length necessary to read on the porcelain convenience. What a coup! They snagged a big interview with Dr. Jill Biden canoodling with Lunchbox Joe, perennially a bridesmaid, and now, at long last, a bride! And what insights, what genius from Mrs. Big Guy! The mind reels.
OMG, you guys, NOBODY has ever before talked about how women have to balance career and family! She had a hard time, she told People, because she came from a family of five girls and had never been around boys when she married the widowed Joe. “Hunter,” said Dr. Jill, evidently with a straight face, “was a messy, sweaty boy.” No kidding.
NOBODY UNTIL NOW has dared to say to working women: “Take some time for yourself.”
Oh wait. This has been a theme since about 1970, which is a mere HALF FLIPPIN’ CENTURY ago. I agree with Whoopi – make this genius doctor the Surgeon General.“

Xenophobia is the fear or dislike of people from countries other than your own. To call me xenophobic is more than a reach; given my background, that boggles the mind. But Peterson is not the first leftwinger to call me xenophobic, to which I have always responded ‘show me the evidence of my xenophobia’. Those who have made the attempt have inevitably made fools of themselves by not being able to understand the difference between illegal entry and legal immigration. Intellectually, it has always been a bridge too far for the liberal.

Here is tthe process in a recall in Calirornia:
First voters who want to create a recall vote must first get signatures. They need 12% of the total voter turnout from the last election. Currently, that’s just under 1.5 million valid signatures.
If they achieve that and a recall happens there’s a special election. On the ballot, there’s two parts. First, voters are asked if they want to vote yes for a recall or no, against a recall. If more than 50% of voters vote no, then the current governor remains.
In the second part of the ballot, voters are asked to pick a replacement in the event the recall passes.
So the bottom line is whether there are over 50% of voters who vote for recall after it qualifies which hasn’t happened yet but actually could qualify cause it only needs 12% to qualify. .
Keep in mind that Newsome won election by 61-38% -23% so it’s a hill to climb. Have fun Repubs. Let me know how it turns out.
