At one time there was a rough equilibrium, but I’d say that Big Tech has thrown that in the crapper.

    Hopefully they stick to real whoppers and not the “he said $100B while the real number is $80B” variety which was the meat ‘n potatoes of the last lie list.
    My guess is that President Cabbage will utter very little that isn’t approved by one of the warring tribes who are pulling the strings. Whether it’s a lie or not is on the people running the country, not the new ‘Commander in Chief’. Going forward, the thing to do is to Kremlin watch and see who is physically near, that’s bound to be up in the air at first but will settle down. Harris and her people are bound to be one of the tribes, so her public speaking duties will be a good indicator.

    Democrat policies stink to high heaven, and in the first week are already cited as not what most Americans want from the federal government (WSJ Editorial Report). More of this garbage is in the pipeline, and the public’s attention must be diverted. Continuing to hammer on Trump is their only solution, and they will keep banging that drum as long as absolutely possible. They are evil.

    Maybe a lot of the problem is ‘policies’ generally.
    Robbing from Peter to pay Paul because of either Paul’s party affiliation or Paul’s ability to bribe a legislator.
    There’s obviously something of a ratchet here and I fully expect COVID to produce another one. A short term emergency results in a long term increase in the scope and burden of government.

    Something odd happened in the 20th C. after thousands of years of government in roughly the 5% of GDP range. In the name of ‘fairness’ the ruling classes have found a way to corral off a much larger piece of the pie than they ever did under previous systems. It’s funny to think that Ancient Rome had a much better GINI score than the modern US. I can’t say that people have become less or more moral, it’s just that the levers of control are so much better.

    Walt, Todd was going to the hospital about the same time you went under the knife. One stint kept him there 6 day, maybe 10, surgery. He has been an infrequent commentator the last 2-3 months. He wasn’t feeling well after one hospitalization and I don’t think he ever got better. Think Chuck Yeager’s passing was the last time he posted. If true, RIP Todd.
