[My internet has been mostly off all week long, and ATT doesn't know where the fault is.  But they've finally isolated it to somewhere up here on Hind Tit Rd.  Patience please.  gjr]

Put another way: The recall effort provides an opportunity for Democrats to replace Newsom while avoiding a Republican governor. San Diego Republican Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a moderate who just termed out of office last week, is almost certainly going to run for governor in 2022, and would likely advance to the general election vs. Newsom after getting through the state’s jungle primary.
“Some legitimate office-holders who see a gubernatorial recall as an easy opportunity to get on the ballot will do their best to push for it,” Marinucci writes. “And don’t think Democrats won’t consider undermining Newsom if it comes to that.”
In the last two years, Newsom has drawn the ire of progressives over inaction on health care and other leftist policy goals despite Democrats holding large majorities in the state legislature. Could Bay Area Rep. Ro Khanna or former State Senate President pro tem Kevin de León (who ran for Senate in 2018) be among those “kicking the tires?”

    That’s all?? –
President-elect Joe Biden’s economic policy agenda could cost jobs, reduce growth and lower household income, according to a recent analysis by conservative think tank the Hoover Institution.
Researchers from the Hoover Institution project that Biden’s plans would reduce employment by 4.9 million individuals, trim GDP by $2.6 trillion and lower consumption by $1.5 trillion in 2030.

Byron York’s Daily Memo: The Biden border surge
“[If] Biden quickly rescinds those two policies, “you will see a global crisis within a couple of weeks,” Mark Morgan, the acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, said recently. Attempts to enter the U.S. illegally are already growing, in part due to economic conditions in Central America and Mexico and in part in anticipation of Biden loosening U.S. border security. Giaritelli reports that attempted illegal entries have grown from 17,000 in April to 70,000 in November.”
“Biden’s arrival in the White House, and Trump’s departure, will send a powerful message to those seeking to enter the United States illegally: The door that was closed will soon be open. Even if Biden wanted to maintain some restrictions, his Democratic base will push him to do just the opposite. A big change is coming.”

    Operation Typhoon:
‘FBI Spied On Fox News, Recorded Phone Call Between Fox Exec And George Papadopoulos, New Texts Show‘
“New text messages released Thursday show FBI officials spied on a Fox News executive over the course of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation that targeted President Donald Trump as a secret Russian agent who illegally stole the election from Hillary Clinton in 2016. The FBI surveilled and recorded a phone call between former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos and an unnamed vice president at Fox News, according to a text message sent to fired former FBI official Peter Strzok just weeks before Trump was inaugurated as president in 2017“
“Because the Obama DOJ never received a warrant to spy on Papadopoulos, it is likely that the FBI used a so-called National Security Letter to spy on Papadopoulos and Fox News. By using a National Security Letter, a demand sent to telecommunications firms to provide communications information about a specific federal target, Obama’s DOJ and FBI were able to avoid legal requirements to receive a court-approved warrant to secretly spy on an American citizen……
Although members of the corporate media repeatedly claimed that Trump’s criticism of journalists on Twitter constituted a violent attack on the First Amendment and the free press, no corporate media outlets have criticized the Obama administration for secretly recording phone calls with a cable news network executive without even bothering to seek a warrant.“

Obama did not spy on Trump! ‘It’s all a Prada-Nazi conspiracy theory! Show me the proof or shut up. Trump is unhinged. Obama did not spy on him!’ Ok, fine.
