[I'm thinking of inviting readers to compete picking the date on which the post-Biden president will be sworn in. Readers can express it as a date certain or a distribution (say, a Gaussian or a MAB) on the calendar. Selecting a date certain (i.e. 20 January 2025) makes sense only if you believe that Biden will serve out a full term, otherwise … . Maybe I'll even make a donation to the winner's favorite tax-deductible organization. Thoughts? gjr]

Insight: “Once we start to worry too often and too deeply about what certain individuals and what certain groups think about us, then we might start selling our souls for the sake of expediency.” —Otis Chandler (1927-2006)
For the record: “The American economy is a wonderful engine of prosperity left to its own devices, and on Tuesday it proved this again with another surge in equity prices that pushed the Dow Jones Industrial Average above 30,000 for the first time. … By the way, on Election Day in 2016 the Dow closed at 18,332.” —The Wall Street Journal
Upright: “‘All your feelings are valid’ is a trendy phrase that sounds good but is a lie. All your feelings are real. Not all your feelings are valid.” —Allie Beth Stuckey
Verbal gymnastics: “I’m going to — we’re going to impose the — we’re going to enforce the — excuse me, employ the defense, reconstruct the act, to be able to go out there and dictate companies build and do following things.” —Joe Biden
Forewarning: “I’m going to make a commitment in the first 100 days, I will send an immigration bill to the United States Senate with a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people in America.” —Joe Biden
Belly laugh of the week: “This is about the least-flashy team you could possibly get. They are deeply experienced, they are humble, and they are life-long public servants. … They are not political. They are just career people.” —ABC News’s Martha Raddatz on Biden’s foreign policy cabinet
Braying jackass: “For four years, I spoke out vigorously against Donald Trump’s craven dishonesty, corrupt pursuit of personal interests, & trampling of our democratic principles. After serving over three decades in national security, I felt compelled to condemn Trump’s depravity & incompetence. My outspokenness has brought criticism, retaliation by the Trump Administration, & threats by those blinded by Trump’s demagoguery. Yes, it is unusual for a former CIA Director to speak out, but when an autocrat descended upon the White House, silence was not an option for me. I now plan to ignore Trump. I leave his fate to our judicial system, his infamy to history, & his legacy to a trash heap.” —John Brennan
Non compos mentis: “It’s sort of like saying I have a constitutional right to drive drunk, I have a constitutional right to not wear a seat belt, or to yell ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater, or to not follow the speed limit. … Which part don’t you understand? You wear the mask. There’s no constitutional right to walk around without a mask. We did it in 1918, I don’t know why we can’t do it now.” —Maryland Governor Larry Hogan
Non sequitur: “Another way of thinking about 2020: Donald Trump currently has 15 million fewer votes than @Twitter followers. Joe Biden has 60 million more votes than @Twitter followers.” —Cook Political Report editor Dave Wasserman (“Kanye West has 10.5 million more Twitter followers than Joe Biden but received 79.8 million fewer votes than him.” —Ben Jacobs)
And last… “Good news! @JoeBiden says he wants a cabinet that ‘looks like America.’ That means half of them will be Trump supporters.” —Larry Elder

ACB made the difference –
In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court sided with religious organizations in a dispute over Covid-19 restrictions put in place by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo that limited attendance at religious services.
The case is the latest pitting religious groups against city and state officials seeking to stop the spread of Covid-19 and highlights the impact of Justice Amy Coney Barrett on the Court. It comes as Covid-19 related cases are spiking across the country.
In the late-night ruling, Barrett sided with the conservatives in the dispute, while Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberal justices in dissent. The ruling underscores Barrett’s impact on the bench, reflecting the Court’s rightward shift.

Ok Nevada City artists and old hippies, it’s time to throw Van Morrison and Eric Clapton under the bus. When I think of all the recording ‘artists’ that Clapton has played with (from The Rolling Stones to BB King), it’s time to throw all of them out and under the bus. No artist license for them.
I seem to remember a fixture at the local Nevada City bar scene doing a tribute to Van Morrison, of all people! And when I think of that tribute being aired on our cable provider funded PEG (NCTV) it makes me want to vomit. Cut the cord! Defund NCTV or whatever lame name it calls itself now.
Ok, I still like Gloria from Sir Van Morrison’s earlier days, in which Van Morrison cleverly disguised himself behind a group called Them. His first solo Brown Eyed Girl was one of my favorites at the time. I got snookered.
Interesting that all the rebellious youth such as moi relished in glee at sticking it to The Man. It’s not so enjoyable when one becomes the man. Just ask Eric Clapton. Or, Van Morrison.

BillT 1047am – As has been the theme on RR, it’s all a matter of culture. An Indian friend told me that human excrement fills the rural road shoulders and side streets of small towns. However, no one notices it as being anything unusual, and therefore there no complaints nor motivation to change where you take a dump when the mood hits. Why should it be different here when we all get used to it after working out of our white privilege sins?

Shawn King, the White American, used an interesting choice of words in his 2016 tweet. He noticed it was only White Americans who complained and human doings on the sidewalk. Damn those Americans. Them Americans with White Entitlement issues. Them white Americans think they are entitled to a stroll around the block without land mines on the sidewalk!
Hey, Shawn, if you think that is bad, I live in a white entitlement place where they are so privileged, they make you carry a pooper scooper and plastic bag when taking the dog for a walk. Signs everywhere. Big fines. Friggin militant white entitlement dog lover issues abound in the Berkeley of the Foothills. I hear ya, bro.
The silver lining to all this is with the denizens in Poop City (aka, the Bay City Bombers) all under lockdown house arrest, the calls complaining about human debris have actually decreased. A good thang. 🙂

President Trump has repeatedly – and falsely – claimed that the 2020 election was rigged. “The most determined effort by a president to overturn the people’s verdict in American history really didn’t get anywhere,” said William Galston of the Brookings Institution. “It’s not that it fell short. It didn’t get anywhere. This, to me, is remarkable.” Trump is pictured above at the White House on Friday, Nov 20, 2020. Washington Post photo by Jabin Botsford
The facts were indisputable: President Donald Trump had lost.
But Trump refused to see it that way. Sequestered in the White House and brooding out of public view after his election defeat, rageful and at times delirious in a torrent of private conversations, Trump was, in the telling of one close adviser, like “Mad King George, muttering, ‘I won. I won. I won.’ ”
However cleareyed that Trump’s aides may have been about his loss to President-elect Joe Biden, many of them nonetheless indulged their boss and encouraged him to keep fighting with legal appeals. They were “happy to scratch his itch,” this adviser said. “If he thinks he won, it’s like, ‘Shh . . . we won’t tell him.’ ”

” President Trump has raised at around $150 million since Election Day through an onslaught of appeals to supporters for help funding his unsuccessful challenges to the vote’s results, according to reports, but a large portion of the money could be put to other uses, including financing his next political move.
The Washington Post and The New York Times both reported Trump’s post-election fundraising sum on Monday evening, with the latter, citing an anonymous person familiar with the matter, putting the number at $170 million (the Trump campaign did not immediately confirm either total with Forbes).

This information came out because a judge has ruled that attorney/client privilege does not apply in this case opening the door to testimony regarding who what when where and how much. It is kind of like those fools who have donated to trump’s election PAC.. money which he will not just pocket. You can fool some of the people all the time… goombah goombah goombah

Can you say Marc Rich? There, i knew you could.
For those unfamiliar with the fugitive Mr. Marc…he was the biggest tax cheat in US history. He wanted to come back to America and sent his ex-wife to the Clintons with a 20 million dollar donation to the Clinton Presidential library. Marc’s lawyer advocating his pardon was the First Lady Hillary’s brother. Not a bad name to drop when seeking a Clinton pardon. Hillary’s brother made a killing charging wealthy clients up the wazoo for securing a Bill Clinton pardon. It is a POTUS’s prerogative (sp?) afterall. I may not like it and liking it is not a requirement, but its a POTUS thing and Constitutional.
Obama blew Bush and Bubba and everybody out of the water with his 2,000 or so pardons…some of whom I recoiled at. Oh well, its a POTUS thang, like it or not. Somebody had to finance the departing President’s new organization. The overhead gets expensive.
I heard that part of the proceeds raised for the Trump Legal Defense Fund are going to help out The College Fix. Good. I have no problem with that. None. Good to help the young people out under 24/7 attack.
Young sharp critical thinking minds are our future. Our Nation’s future depends on them. Thankyou, President Trump. The forgotton young person will be forgotten no more. Those students take the blows of intolerance, facism, and ostracization for all of us

Daily Quotes and a meme or two. Maybe a meme about mimes looking for work. Just joking. Mimes are non-essential people.
Upright: “The idea behind giving professors lifetime tenure is that this will enable them to speak out freely. But it would be hard to name any other occupation with a more cowardly record than academics, who have been giving in to politically correct campus bullies ever since the 1960s.” —Thomas Sowell
Friendly fire: “[AOC is] not that active with her bills or in committee. She’s more active on Twitter than anything else.” —Senator Joe Manchin
The non-PC reality: “[Vanderbilt kicker Sarah] Fuller did not prove that women belong on every field. She proved the opposite. They don’t belong on a football field with men. And that’s okay. That doesn’t make them less than men. It just makes them not men. And there is dignity and beauty in accepting that.” —Matt Walsh
Alpha jackass I: “Scott Atlas just resigned his position as Trump’s accessory to mass murder by #coronavirus.” —author Grant Stern
Alpha jackass II: “Scott Atlas has resigned. I really hope @Stanford fires him immediately. What university wants a mass murderer on their faculty?” —author Don Winslow
Alpha jackass III: “Scott Atlas resigns to spend more time infecting his family.” —executive producer Danny Zuker
Hypocrite in chief: “At the end of the day we Americans loved our cheap gas and big cars more than we cared about the environment, except when a complete disaster was staring us in the face.” —Barack Obama, who owns multiple energy-draining mansions, regarding the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill
And last… “We’re seeing this move towards socialism because capitalism they see as inherently corrupt. That is wrong. Capitalism is the greatest thing humanity’s ever done. We told a bad narrative, and we’ve let the enemies of business and the enemies of capitalism put out a narrative about us that’s wrong. It’s inaccurate.” —Whole Foods founder and CEO John Mackey

I think a governmentb shut down right now would be a great idea and perfect timing. All the working stiff are already shut down anyway and no one will be affected but useless federal goverment “workers”. Man, if the term ‘federal government workers’ is not an oxymoron, then I don’t know what an oxymoron is. The only ones hurt will be those seeking visas and passports. Like, what do you need a passport for in this period of lock downs, quarantines, travel bans and restrictions? Besides, those federal workers like useless forest rangers and such won’t miss a paycheck. Might be delayef, but its alk money in the bank. They will get paid for staying home, just like AOC and Biden proposes for everybody.
Shut the government down now. Our social security checks will come in like cloxkwork, apparently the only thing the government does well. Nobody misses a SS check. And few, if any, will notice the government is shut down outside the unhinged statist worshippers on the addicted to outrage Enemy of the People. The VA and local hospitals will still be open, so no biggie. Its for our grandchildren’s future. Think of the children.
