This is an area where I probably veer slightly from you (and Gregory) in that I don’t view the movement to topple the West as a matter of socialism/communism…both of which had a reasonably deep philosophical substrate.
This all appears to me as a more basic seizure of power. Currently race and (to some extent) gender issues are handy rallying points, race being a natural one in any country blessed with the benefits of diversity. It just turns out that a handy way to gain power is to move economic control to a single large entity and then run that entity.
Even a purist in the power game like Stalin likely had a more nuanced view of the world than the groups using things like Critical Race Theory to move forward. At this point, the US Left is pushing with tools rather than goals.

If we’ve learned anything this year, it’s that anything can be called “racist.” Among the things fitting that description is the teaching of standard English. Supposedly, that is demeaning to black students and lowers their self esteem. The Conference on College Composition and Communication (an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English) has released a demand that teachers and professors stop doing that.
Lots of English teachers will no doubt be devastated to hear that they have been complicit in the “annihilation” of black life and language when they correct papers for grammatical errors.
