[Pelosi and her team continue to accuse President Trump of having violated laws and the Constitution without providing a shred of evidence or supportive back-up. And their vastly more college-educated leftwing constituency laps it hook, line, and sinker up without ever asking which laws or constitutional provisions the president has violated. As we have observed, it all turns out to be part and parcel of progressive jurisprudence – all allegations from the Left are on their face to be accepted as evidence sufficient for indictment. gjr]

Walt. Welcome home, I hope the recovery is doing well.
If you think for one moment that Punchy would run for public office in Nevada City, you are mistaken., IMHO. Punchy’s forte is to ask loaded questions based on false premises, innuendo, and distraction. He, on the other hand, does not care much for answering questions.
Imagine Punchy sitting on the City Council and being peppered by an hostile citizenry demanding answers now….answers to questions based on conspiracy theories and correlation equates to causation. Then Punchy would have to look at the city’s books and budgets to be informed about finances. He probably has no interest in that kind of stuff. No feelings involved in numbers crunching. Plus, I believe the city council is an unpaid position…well, at least it used to be.
Hmm. Wait a minute. Being on the receiving end of endless gotcha questions might be the perfect Karma scenario for our Buzzard of Broad Street. Go for it Paul Emery! Run, Punchy, run.
And tear down those racist genocidal environmental destruction mining artifacts from in front of the so called miners’ Cultural Center while you are at it. That is, of course, if you don’t die first of the Chinese Virus. You are over 65 (I assume) and thus in the most vulnerable category. Perhaps in your situation you could take questions submitted in writing on-line.

This polling averages delegate count shows Biden up by 160 delegates. The count is Biden 279 Trump 119 with 149 tossups.
Trump has to win all 149 tossups plus 20 now in the Biden count.
Look for major defections from the Republican base if things don’t turn around very soon.

So it begins. the shunning of Trump:
Senate Democrats’ largely symbolic bid to cut off the Trump administration’s support for a Supreme Court challenge to Obamacare failed as expected Thursday, but several Republicans facing tough reelections crossed party lines to back the measure.
Sens. Martha McSally of Arizona, Susan Collins of Maine, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Joni Ernst of Iowa and Dan Sullivan of Alaska, who are trying to reassure voters about their defense of insurance protections for preexisting conditions, backed the Democrats’ measure. Another Republican, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who opposed Obamacare repeal efforts three years ago, also supported the bill.

I’m not alone-This is from a former chair of the Republican National Committee. From Fox News:
“Marc Racicot, a former governor of Montana as well as an ex-chairman of the Republican National Committee, endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden for president in an interview this week.
placeholder
“Even as a Republican, I will not be supporting Donald Trump for president, and I will not be voting for him,” Racicot, 72, told Home Ground Radio host Brian Kahn. “That means that I’ll be voting for Joe Biden for president.”
The half-hour interview, focused on the state of U.S. politics in general, turned to the 2020 election near its end.
FILE – In this July 17, 2004, file photo, former GOP National Campaign Chairman Marc Racicot speaks at a news conference for a Bush-Cheney campaign event in Seattle. The former Montana governor and Republican National Committee chair said on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, he will vote for Democrat Joe Biden in the November election, citing character flaws in President Donald Trump. (AP Photo/Jim Bryant, File)
Racicot was elected Montana governor in 1992 and again in 1996 and spent two years heading the RNC before joining President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign in 2004.
He said chief executives elected at all levels should have “a sense of decency, a sense of respect, a sense of hard work” and be willing to consider opposing opinions.

PaulE 201pm – Your statement that Trump has “left the economy in total chaos and doesn’t have a clue as to how to exert his leadership as commander in Chief in the war against the Corona Virus” would make an interesting discussion were you able to provide any evidence or support for your claims. A knowledgeable criticism would contain examples of Trump’s shortcomings which could have been avoided given what was known at the time and the Constitution’s delegations of powers to the Executive. Can you do that? What you’ve given here and repeated countless times is just another baseless expression of your TDS – yawn. However, you and yours do take a measure of pleasure from such exercises.

Hey, I can answer that (waving hand around).
Sure.
I just looked up the GDP drop in Sweden (who did basically nothing), the UK (who did more than the US) and the US.
Sweden had less of a drop in GDP and a teensy bit higher death rate than the US
UK had a larger drop in GDP and a teensy bit lower death rate than the US.
You were saying? Can you show us on the doll where the Bad Orange Man touched you?
My general take is that all of this policy is rather ad lib and you hope for the best. Lots of players, lots of iron rice bowls, not much understanding of what are quite complex systems (no surprise there).

PaulE 336pm – 200K deaths sounds about right given the global experience of C19 death rates. Recall that what we’re really interested in is excess deaths. And the economy could be better and would be better had the Democrat governors and mayors not imposed and then extended draconian lockdown policies in their jurisdictions. But that was expected because the Dems want the deaths to be as high as possible and economy to be as bad as possible before the election (I’ve explained this in detail). All this because then you and yours will hyperventilate loudly across the land that it was all Trump’s fault. And yea verily, there we have it, just as predicted.
Now let’s hear your substantive reason for blaming Trump and giving us the alternative policies that would have prevented all this. I notice that you, as usual, gave no response to my 300pm.

“The figures below, drawn from the New York Times’s own analysis of Trump’s tax-return data for 2017, show that Trump paid $7,435,857 in taxes in 2017.”
“What confused the Times is Trump did not pay the liability with a check. He used a credit issued to him earlier by the government, a credit that can only be used to pay taxes.”
“In other words, Trump paid the full amount of his taxes but spent $7,435,107 of his tax credit and $750 of cash. Both cash and the credit are government liabilities that the U.S. government accepts as payment for taxes. Paying the credit is not the equivalent of not paying taxes.”
