Observations: “In a recent Pew Research survey, only 16% of men and 17% of women said that marriage is ‘essential for a … fulfilling life.’ Only 16% of men and 22% of women said having children is ‘essential for a … fulfilling life.’ This compared with 57% of men and 46% of women who said ‘having a job or career they enjoy’ is essential. As we dismiss our Creator from our public spaces, as we exchange love and meaning for crass materialism, we exchange a culture of life for a culture of death. And by doing so, we put the future of our nation in jeopardy.” —Star Parker
Nailed it: “I love the Obamas, but I’m going to be honest. I hear all of the racial statements they’re making today and I’m like, ‘You were in office for eight years. What did you do to change anything?’ You didn’t do anything to change anything for anybody, so don’t come out now talking about it because you had an opportunity [as] the most powerful man in the world, and you did absolutely nothing.” —Herschel Walker
Upright: “Some of the reactions I’m seeing regarding the decision by the grand jury in the Breonna Taylor situation demonstrate what I’ve often said: many social justicians don’t define ‘justice’ in terms of equality before the law, but in terms of preferred outcomes — despite the law.” —Darrell B. Harrison
For the record: “[Breonna Taylor’s] death is sad. It’s a tragedy, but it wasn’t an act of racism. There’s no evidence for that, and if there was, we would admit it. But [the media] don’t care. All they care about is getting people to believe that this dystopia they describe is real. Why? It’s an election year. If enough property burns, if enough public streets are impassible, in the end, people may decide, ‘I’ll vote for Joe Biden to make it stop.’” —Tucker Carlson

Very bad news for the TDS set to ignore –
Fifteen focus groups of Hispanic Americans and polls of white and black Americans, conducted by Ian Haney López and Tory Gavito, reveal that Hispanic Americans are the most convinced by campaign rhetoric that opposes illegal immigration and defunding local police departments.
Black Americans, at the same rate as white Americans, were convinced by the rhetoric, Edsall writes:
Another data point they found “even more sobering”: López and Gavito asked eligible voters how “convincing” they found a dog-whistle message lifted from Republican talking points. Among other elements, the message condemned “illegal immigration from places overrun with drugs and criminal gangs” and called for “fully funding the police, so our communities are not threatened by people who refuse to follow our laws.”
As they expected, “almost three out of five white respondents judged that message convincing.”
More disconcerting to López and Gavito, both liberals, was that “exactly the same percentage of African-Americans agreed, as did an even higher percentage of Latinos.”

Libs LOVE to say Trump is a dictator.. Forget what Dear Leader “O” did? Yes,, the things Commie dictators do.
“In 2009, as part of the Obama-Biden administration’s taxpayer-funded bailout of GM, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) terminated the pension plans of about non-unionized 20,0000 Delphi workers. In some cases, workers had their pensions gutted by 30 to 70 percent.
Three years later, federal documents unveiled how the Obama-Biden administration’s Treasury Department worked to gut the pensions of the Delphi workers despite repeated claims that it was the sole decision of the PBGC.”
Trump is about to fix that unjust, taking.

For a start Trump claimed Trump saved billions of lives with whatever actions he took restricting travel from China. Do you believe that to be true? there’s around 8 billion people in the world so “billions” could be 25 to 50% of the entire population of the world. that’s quite an accomplishment Gregory.
“Trump made his outlandish “billions” claim at his press briefing Saturday. Based on some models, the COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. was predicted to reach 100,000 to 220,000, he noted. “I really believe it could have been billions of people [who died] had we not done what we did,” he added. “We made a lot of good decisions.”

Trumps own FBI does not in any way confirm voter fraud on a scale that could swing a national election. Here’s some direct quotes:
“FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday cast doubts on concerns raised by some conservatives that mail-in voting could pose an increased chance of voter fraud, with Wray telling a Senate committee that widespread voter fraud would be a “major challenge” for a foreign adversary to pull off.
“We have not seen, historically, any kind of coordinated national voter fraud effort in a major election whether it’s by mail or otherwise,” Wray testified to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee during a hearing on threats to the homeland. “We have seen voter fraud at the local level from time to time, so my comments should in no way be construed as minimizing how seriously we take our responsibility to investigate such incidents.”

I have no idea what that number would be.
Here is an early estimate from Columbia University
“A study has estimated there may have been 36,000 fewer coronavirus-related deaths had the US entered lockdown a week earlier in March.
The Columbia University research also estimated that around 83% of deaths could have been avoided if measures had been taken two weeks earlier.
It suggested that 54,000 fewer people would have died had cities begun locking down on 1 March.
President Trump dismissed the report as a “political hit job”.
The study, which has not been peer reviewed yet, covers data up to 3 May, at which point there had been just over 65,300 coronavirus-related deaths in the US.
There have now been more than 93,400 coronavirus-related deaths in the United States, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.”

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/yes-america-there-voter-fraud-these-recent-cases-prove-it
“Many news media, political activists and social media giants have gotten on the bandwagon that voter fraud is fiction. It is not.
A review of court cases and recent indictments – including one this week in Philadelphia against a former congressman – finds there have been at least four dozen cases in criminal and civil court since the last presidential election in 2016 in which voter fraud has led to charges, convictions, lawsuits or plea deals.
The schemes have ranged from old fashion ballot box stuffing to absentee and mail-in ballot fraud.
In 2019, former Gordon, Ala., Mayor Elbert Melton was convicted of absentee ballot fraud in a mayoral race he won by just 16 votes. ”

re: Paul.
So you are saying that Trump should have forced each individual city to lockdown ‘a week earlier’? I’m not even sure that there’s a legal basis for that. The feds basically supply research through a couple of labs and money (usually after the fact).
As an example, here’s NY Magazine from March 1, 2020.
““We all ask ourselves the question after seeing the CDC guidance,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference on Wednesday, “what would we be able to do if this became a much deeper crisis?” So … what will New York City look like if there is a coronavirus outbreak here?”
(updated March 1, 2020) “This post has been updated to note the first confirmed coronavirus case in New York.”
https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/03/how-would-new-york-city-respond-to-the-coronavirus.html
So…basically Trump should have forced de Blasio to lockdown NYC when the outbreak hadn’t happened yet?
Have you considered that when you blame Trump, you are just full of shit? You have no clue what you are talking about? You have no clue what the federal role actually is?

Here’s the study that Paul didn’t read.
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.15.20103655v1.full.pdf
The idea is that simulations show that a couple of weeks earlier lockdown would have a measurable change in infection rates…probably a safe bet for any epidemic, but I’m looking through it to see just how they estimate the efficacy of the measures.
You do have to wonder why Sweden (no real measures taken) has essentially the same death rate as the UK (lotsa measures taken). Fewer fat people? I would guess that they are similar in terms of urbanization. Some difference in reporting standards? Perhaps people don’t know what they are doing (my bet)?
The amusing concept is, of course, the D. Trump would know to magically jump in a week early and basically federalize state and local health policy. Essentially a form of martial law. All before it was a problem.
This is one of the purest versions of TDS I’ve seen and I’m rather tired of it.

Fox news shows Trump with solid leads in Nevada-11 points, Pennyslavania-7 points and Ohio-5 points. Remember, Trump has to win all battleground states and flip a blue or two to win and in these States things are headed the other way. Sad for the RR’s but true..
“Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is leading President Donald Trump in the battleground states of Nevada, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to Fox News polls released Thursday.
The polls conducted among likely voters showed Biden with an 11-point lead over Trump in Nevada, where 52 percent of respondents said they wanted the former vice president to be elected. In Pennsylvania, 51 percent supported Biden and 44 percent supported Trump. In Ohio, 50 percent supported Biden and 45 percent supported Trump.
Trump’s 2016 victories in Pennsylvania and Ohio were critical to his electoral win that year. Nevada narrowly voted for then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Good idea? No?
I believe that the Constitution implies lifetime appointment, 18 (4.5 Presidential terms) is rather arbitrary, you could easily end up with an even number of Justices, no words about adding more seats…which could easily turn into an arms race. Probably lots of unintended consequences.
I doubt you’ll see Congressional term limits come up as a bill with any legs.
My own prejudice is to work to lessen the importance of the federal government. None of this would matter so much if it wasn’t so all-encompassing.

I do believe that in this one particular case, Paul was kidding. Nobody is stupid enough to quote Hillary’s concession speech as she has been….well…it’s a cliche now….as she has been spending the last four years trying to overthrow the results of a democratic fair election. Yep, Paul was just pulling your chain to get a rise out of you. Come on man, not even Paulbelieves that horse pucky.
I never appreciated Paul Emery the News Director’s humor. “Sounds like a concession speech to me.” Good one.

I belIeve it was Paul the News Director who was not referring to the popular vote in mid-Oct. 2016 when he stated that Hillary only needs 15 Electoral College votes and Trump needed all 120 to win. The experts predicted at the time that it would be something like 330- 216 or maybe 303-227. WOW! It just occurred to me. Punchy nailed it. The final result was 304-227 in 2016, Trump over Hillary Rodclam Clinton, the lady with the killer chocolate chip cookie recipes. That’s when he popularity was the highest…as the First Lady in the kitchen.

You are probably safe. Typepad has incredibly bad search, I mean incredibly bad.
Generally, it was Biden screeching ‘xenophobia’, this was also about the time that Pelosi was inviting people to large celebrations in Chinatown.
Using the Wayback Machine, we see:
“As a result, foreign nationals, other than immediate family of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, who have traveled in China within the last 14 days will be denied entry into the United States for this time.”

This was Jan 31, 2020. Just imagine how much difference it would have made if they had announced it a week earlier!!! That Trump, why, it’s outrageous!!!

Yes Bill, Hillary lost the 2016 election. You just can’t get enough of it. That’s your little winning streak. The House caved in two years later and now Trump is on the ropes and the Senate is shaky but still you obsess about Hillary. Go for it if it makes you feel good. This is the place for it here on RR’s playground.

Anyone catch Lindsey Graham whining on Fox News tonight cause he can’t raise any money? He was so pathetic it wasn’t even funny. If you didn’t see it check it out.

““My opponent will raise almost $100 million in the state of South Carolina,” said Graham. “The most money ever spent in the state on a Senate race was by me in 2014 when I spent $13 million. ”
lol. $100M. Just think about it.
Remember when the Republicans were the party of the rich and big business? Those days are over. Maybe KVMR can get some of that sweet sweet Monsanto money.

On Paul the News Director. Wasn’t it YOU who went on and on and on about Trump will get wiped out in 2016 and the Republican Party would be a shell of its former self. Dead, relegated to a small regional party in the Deep South or something. You went on and on and on and on all the way on the Yellow Brick Road to the White House. In fact, you are re-playing the same tapes you played in 2016, almost word for word.
No, Paul Emery the News Director of a tiny FM radio station that cannot survive without government handouts, it is not about Hillary. It is all about YOU.
So Paul the News Director, as you are reciting the same exact song and dance in 2020 that you parroted in 2016, why should anyone listen to YOU? Not Hilary, but YOU. Why, I say, should one person listen to you on any matter of import? Why, why, why? It’s all about YOU.
Look at the silver lining, Paul Emery. At least your track record is better than Bobbie Cross’s. The best thing about Bobbie ran down his mama’s legs.

re: campaign money spent (from OpenSecrets)
2008 McCain – $333M Obama – $730M
2012 Romney – $449M Obama – $721M
2016 Trump – $433M Clinton – $769M
Bush was slightly higher than Kerry.
This seems to indicate a thing I’ve been considering. Something happened to the Democrats in 2008. The switch from representing the working class to selling your ass to the highest bidder became complete. Trump, intelligently, picked up the working class.
Is it enough? It seems to me that a state change (the chemical kind) is happening and it’s likely that Trump just put off the inevitable. A combination of communications/internet monopolies, mass immigration, chronic unemployment due to offshoring and automation, the encouragement of identity politics, all leads you to a post-American future. The California ideal of chronic homelessness, income inequality, a multitude of rules, and warring over the government pie will be exported everywhere.
It was nice while it lasted. Watch yer six.
