[Does everyone know what Nevada County Supes are planning to vote on tomorrow?  Heidi Hall (District1) plans to introduce Urgency Ordinance Measure 37 that would impose draconian fines on local residents for not wearing a mask, even while social distancing.  This is the latest of the power-mad disease infecting political pinheads across the country.  Write your supervisor or be there.  gjr]

Electoral College Predictor – I provided readers with a nifty tool for incorporating their beliefs about what they believe from the polls and put in the hard numbers on a state-by-state basis to compute the probability of which candidate will win. All this to cut out the adjectival bullshit that decorates these comment streams. Download the spreadsheet, put in your numbers, and make your case – othewise it’s only words, words, words, and hot air. But hey, some people thrive on that.

I don’t see the point of the spreadsheet… the only poll that counts is on the first Tuesday of November.

Yup,, THIS will help Biden with the Black vote.
    https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/biden-to-black-journalist-are-you-a-junkie/
“Shortly after President Trump’s effort to win reelection was challenged by an interview with Jonathan Swan that goes wildly off the rails, former Vice President Biden turned in his own train wreck of an interview, getting testy with CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett during a virtual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
BARNETT: Please clarify specifically, have you taken a cognitive test?
FORMER VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: No, I haven’t taken a test! Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man! That’s like saying you . . . before you got in this program, you’re take [sic] a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not. What do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?
BARNETT: What do you say to President Trump who brags about his test and makes your mental state an issue for voters?
    74
BIDEN: Well, if he can’t figure out the difference between an elephant and a lion, I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Did you watch that — look, come on, man. I know you’re trying to goad me, but I mean . . . I’m so forward-looking to have an opportunity to sit with the President or stand with the President and the debates.
Unsurprisingly, many are cringing that Biden is, unprompted, asking an African-American journalist if he’s “a junkie” . . . three months after Biden told radio DJ Charlamagne tha God, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”

You can’t make this up. Forget about Bidens bumbling, Trump is the star:
Trump mispronounces Yosemite National Park as ‘yo-Semites’ twice in White House speech. I dare you to follow the links.
“President Donald Trump apparently doesn’t know how to pronounce the name of one of America’s most famous national parks.
During a speech at the White House on Tuesday following the signing of the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act, Trump twice pronounced Yosemite as “yo-Semites .”
“When young Americans experience the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon, when their eyes widen in amazement as Old Faithful bursts into the sky, when they gaze upon yo-Semites, yo-Semites, towering sequoias, their love of country grows stronger, and they know that every American has truly a duty to preserve this wonderous inheritance,” Trump said.”

Gregory 525pm – Then this means that you don’t see the joy and entertainment that prognosticating elections has brought to the country for over two centuries. Over the years all kinds of tallies have been proposed and worked to get a peek into the future, and that practice continues apace today in more ways than one can conceive. I just took one of these tallies, and made it transparent and available for all to play with – that’s the only point. And your citing a wet blanket tautology about November really dismisses the point of all the pre-election fun and frolic. But then again, you get to do that.
PaulE 820pm – Don’t you ever want to talk about big people stuff about candidates, e.g. the policies they now endorse, and what they may actually support when they’re in office. We on the right have and continue to cover Trump’s AND Biden’s policies as they are reported. But all you liberals do here and elsewhere in the land is lambaste Trump as a person. Is there a deeper message in that you don’t want to consider what Bumblebrain promises to do when he gets elected? Why not take a stab at defending something material about YOUR candidate?

I bring glad tidings for der fuhrer of the Sierra Business Council (feel free to share with all your dimmer minions).

Conservatism may indeed be unsalvageable at this point. The old guard is too heavily invested in—nay, it benefits too much from the status quo to own up to its failures, correct its leftward drift, and reground itself in the realities of the 21st century. Its business model works, as evidenced by the hundreds of millions of dollars that flow into its coffers each year.
And yet conservatism, in its dotage, cannot shake the nagging suspicion that it no longer speaks to the country it loves, in particular to those who have no living memory of the Cold War. This dawning realization could be amplified through probing questions: is America today more conservative than it was when the conservative movement began 70 or so years ago? Is conservatism itself as conservative as it was then? On the off chance that the conservative agenda were to be implemented, would it fundamentally transform the United States of America and lead to conservative hegemony (or would it simply save us money and buy us time)?

Once the venal grasping Old Guard is swept away what comes next is going to be epic!

PaulE 1049am – Ah yes, another familiar barn that invites more circling? Not accounting for the stuff that Obama did not accomplish in his 8 years, all I’ll offer is that Trump’s first two years were involved in putting the economy back into gear after idling under Obama, and doing all this while fending off multiple attacks and stratagems from the country’s political and media Left. By all sober accounting, Trump achieved much more than anyone could reasonably expect.

A Los Angeles Times review of Bass’s financial disclosures found that her State Assembly campaign committees paid the Community Coalition nearly $100,000 between 2008 and 2011. And in 2010, the Community Coalition paid Bass a total of $70,500 in consulting fees, an amount that nearly doubled her State Assembly salary that year.

    Government Misconduct Frees Cliven Bundy

Politically charged prosecutions — even ones that are thoroughly justified — often end badly for the justice system. So it appears with the federal prosecutions of Cliven Bundy and his sons. The government blew its case against Bundy’s sons by overcharging them, resulting in a jury acquittal in 2016. Today, the Ninth Circuit affirmed the dismissal of Bundy’s own federal indictment (as well as that of several of his co-defendants) on the grounds that the government had waited until the middle of trial to disclose information that would have helped Bundy’s case, in violation of Brady v. Maryland. The misconduct was so severe and prejudicial to the Bundy clan’s case that the court barred the government from bringing the same charges again. The opinion was written by Jay Bybee, a George W. Bush appointee, but joined by judges appointed by Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
The Bundy indictment charged extortion, threats to federal officers, and a variety of related crimes due to the armed standoff around the Bundy ranch arising from a longstanding dispute over unpaid grazing fees claimed by the Bureau of Land Management. The trial court rejected the Bundy clan’s self-defense theory, but, as the court wrote, “A central pillar of the government’s case was the allegation that the defendants recruited armed followers by intentionally deceiving those followers into believing that the Bundys feared for their lives because government snipers surrounded their ranch,” a charge that was touted in the government’s opening statement to the jury.

Yeah….I remember when Federal Law Enforcement and Steve Frisch were still really into each other!

The Trump campaign said it is continuing in its efforts of “powering the largest field program and data operation in Party history,” with the RNC hiring 300 field staffers, “bringing the total Trump Victory operation to over 1,500 – double that of Biden’s field operation,” according to the campaign’s release.
“With a grassroots army of 1.8 million Americans, the Trump Victory field effort is on pace to surpass the 2.2 million volunteers that helped re-elect President Obama in 2012,” the release added.
Trump Victory data obtained by Axios this week indicated that the campaign’s ground game is continuing to reap positive results. The GOP is reportedly closing the voter registration gap in key swing states such as Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina:
According to the data obtained by Axios, the GOP has “lessened the margin by 133,000 registered voters in Pennsylvania and 87,000 voters in Florida” while gaining “a net 216,410 voters since Election Day 2016” in North Carolina.
Republicans have also reclaimed a voter registration advantage in Iowa and are outpacing Democrats in Arizona.
