[In the intro to the last Sandbox, my invitation to readers to discuss the dollar-value of human life went over like a turd in a punchbowl. It appears that the best approach to discussing the value of human lives is just to bloviate with a lot of virtue signalling thrown in. That's supposed to divert the reader from discovering that the writer has no idea what he's talking about. Public policies are supposed to be made with some regard to a broadly agreed on dollar-value of a human life, but only, I guess, if the public gives a damn. Oh well. gjr]

Now I just want to say that had either of you, “Mary” or Punchy been included in the competition I honestly believe that you would have given either of them a strong run for the title of who is fastest losing command of their mental faculties.
Just wanted to get that on the record…….

” Time to move to Rifle, CO?”
I don’t mind the look of it, but it’s a tad too big a town.
Besides, it would be foolish to move to yet another state that has a tumor of Blue Mob urbanites trying to build a utopia.
Never say never though. It’s easy enough to gauge the livability of a place. BLM protests? y/n. Big homeless problem? y/n. Reasonably compact downtowns? y/n. These serve as good proxies for a load of other issues.
It’s a pity that this area only has one out of three, but it didn’t used to be this way.

Perhaps, hard to say.
I just thought it should be made clear that Biden (or the people with their hands up his ass making the mouth move) is placing confiscation directly on the table as a platform.
It’s basically a laundry list of all the anti-gun measures I’ve ever run into, all in the name of ‘common sense’ of course. The extreme Left in this country has the bit in their teeth and they’re going for it at all levels. Watching the Speaker kneel to the new religion tells you all you need to know, so assume the worst.
It took a pandemic, an insurrection, and the opportunity for Great Depression II to bring Hope and Change to the country, but you can’t blame people for trying. WWI brought the benefits of Bolshevism to Russia, we’ll throw on a distinctive American twist.

I think it goes deeper than that. There’s something really peculiar going on out there.
Bret Weinsten, he of the podcasts I’ve been putting up, made a point that I really had to turn over in my brain. For some reason, there’s a really heavy presence of transsexuals in this whole thing. He observed it in both Evergreen College and in it’s current outbreak. Check out the BLM ‘manifestos’. Check out CHAZCHOP. Weimerica can be a strange place.
Coincidence? Some sort of perfect storm of decadence and sociopath? In his (Weinstein’s) mind, an incredibly tiny minority is hitting above it’s weight. It has to be really interesting to an evolutionary biologist. Once noticed, it’s hard to unnotice.

The problem with dictatorships is they have to keep the BS flowing for the ignorant masses and then they look like idiots to the free world who can see the satellite images –
An Iranian general would not rule out that a massive explosion east of Tehran last week was caused by “hacking,” amidst speculation that the incident was an act of sabotage.
Iranian authorities had attempted to downplay the blast—which tore through a missile factory east of Tehran—as a gas tank explosion at a different industrial park. But one official refused to rule out an act of cyber-sabotage.
“On the explosion of the Parchin gas facilities, it has been mentioned that the incident was caused by hacking the center’s computer systems,” said Brig. Gen. Gholamreza Jalali, head of the Passive Defense Institution, at a conference on anti-chemical weapons defense. “But until we come to a conclusion on the dimensions of this incident and the claim, we cannot comment.”
The explosion damaged the Khojir missile production complex, according to satellite imagery, but Iranian authorities have insisted that it actually took place at the Parchin industrial park forty kilometer away.
The apparent coverup—along with international tensions around Iran’s missile program—have raised suspicions of foul play.

Botox Nancy has lost control of her caucus –
The House adopted Crawford’s motion to recommit with 224 votes in favor of the measure and 193 votes against the proposal.
This marks the seventh time that the GOP has forced Democrats to amend their bill by approving a motion to recommit. The Republicans’ victory also calls into question House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) ability to control her rank-and-file members from defecting and voting for GOP measures.
Political experts and reporters have previously written that Republican wins on motions to recommit votes serve as an “embarrassment” for Democrat leadership.

If you measure enthusiasm by dollars its no contest –
NEW YORK (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee raised $266 million (£213 million) during the second quarter, including $131 million in June, a joint committee said on Wednesday.
“The Trump campaign’s monumental June fundraising haul proves that people are voting with their wallets and that enthusiasm behind President Trump’s re-election is only growing,” said Trump 2020 Campaign Manager Brad Parscale.
Trump, who has been campaigning for a second term since 2017, still has far more cash on hand ahead of the Nov. 3 presidential election.
Trump and the Republican Party ended the quarter with over $295 million cash on hand, the committee said.

I expect that Biden will snag more money if donors decide his chance is really good. Gotta pay to play. No doubt some still feel cheated by the huge money they spent on Her Nibs and got nothin’ in return.
As usual, I see that Trump receives far more from small donors than Biden does (57% vs 40%) but given who the Democrats’ real constituents are I can’t say that I’m surprised.

Hundreds of Republicans who worked under Bush have started a PAC to elect Biden. Called “43 Alumni for Biden” the group stated that the Republican Party had ”morphed into a cult of personality that little resembles the Party of Lincoln and Reagan. We believe that a Biden administration will adhere to the rule of law, ensure equal protection for all Americans and restore dignity and integrity to the White House. This November, we are choosing country over party….This campaign is bigger than partisan politics. We recognize that there may be policy differences among us, but we look forward to a time when civil, honest and robust policy discussions are the order of the day.”

Another cyber attack on those mutha mullahs? –
The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran sought to downplay the fire, calling it an “incident” that only affected an under-construction “industrial shed”, spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said.
However, both Kamalvandi and Iranian nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi rushed after the fire to Natanz, which has been targeted in sabotage campaigns in the past.
Authorities offered no cause for the blaze, though Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency published a commentary addressing the possibility of sabotage by enemy nations such as Israel and the US following other recent explosions in the country.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has so far tried to prevent intensifying crises and the formation of unpredictable conditions and situations,” the commentary said.
But “the crossing of red lines of the Islamic Republic of Iran by hostile countries, especially the Zionist regime and the US, means that strategy … should be revised.”
A photograph later released by the atomic energy agency and state TV video showed a brick building with scorch marks and its roof apparently destroyed. Debris on the ground and a door that looked blown off its hinges suggested an explosion accompanied the blaze.
Data collected by a US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration satellite suggested the fire broke out around 2am local time in the north-west corner of the Natanz compound. Flames from the blaze were bright enough to be detected by the satellite from space.
