[The dollar value of human lives was touched on in the last Sandbox.  I predict that this topic will be quickly forgotten by our leftwing readers, since it will be a debate to which they must needs arrive unarmed.  gjr]

It’s happened in other places, but I don’t know about GV. It’s a good question.
Perhaps you could go do some of that imaginary ‘news craft’ and call somebody who knows. Perhaps GVPD or one of the local organizers. We could probably do a GoFundMe for a telephone if you don’t have one.
The step from propagandist to newsman is a giant one, but we know you could do it if you tried.

Scenes, Emery is no newsman. He plays the guitar. I remember him when he “covered” the Board of Supervisors when I was there. He could not get it right then after sitting there and listening at the meetings. And he sill doesn’t now. So it appears he is one of those lazy types that want someone else to do his work. And if the work does not fit his agenda it is considered untrue.

What an idiot. I didn’t begin work for KVMR till ’97 and you were long gone by then. You were there in the late ’80’s for two terms I recall before Dave Tobiasson .
It is so sad what’s become of you. You were once a bright young man with big political ambitions but you were tossed out like dead flowers in every election after that. Now you’re a local joke. I have to remind your critics that at one time you had potential and were up and coming but were dumped by the voters and became a failed real estate developer and now are a relic. Sad but true

It appears that Paul Emery has lost his noggin and needs some ginko. He is the laughingstock in town and when people see him on the street they toss nickles into his beret. But he did this to himself with all that smoking and other substance placed in his body. What a shame.

I think it’s funny that he’s spent more than a couple of years puling about numbers that I basically see as information-filled as this:
    https://sharylattkisson.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Screen-Shot-2020-06-11-at-12.45.15-PM-1024×700.png
You’d think by now that Trump would be at -1150% what with all the down swings.
It’s like having an irritating little brother continuously show up to chant something obnoxious.

    From Wikipedia.
“After the Klan was suppressed, similar insurgent paramilitary groups arose that were explicitly directed at suppressing Republican voting and turning Republicans out of office: the White League, which started in Louisiana in 1874; and the Red Shirts, which started in Mississippi and developed chapters in the Carolinas. For instance, the Red Shirts are credited with helping elect Wade Hampton as governor in South Carolina. They were described as acting as the military arm of the Democratic Party and are attributed with helping white Democrats regain control of state legislatures throughout the South.[32] In addition, there were thousands of Confederate veterans in what were called rifle clubs. ”
Looks like Hamilton is all wet. He is trying to block me from a newspaper I bought and my parents bought for fifty years. I think Hamilton might be a fascist.
He claimed I was lying when I said the KKK was the military branch of the KKK. Of course Woodrow Wilson had them in the White House and I think he was a democrat pointy head.

    Quotes
Insight: “By academic freedom I understand the right to search for truth and to publish and teach what one holds to be true. This right implies also a duty; one must not conceal any part of what one has recognized to be true.” —Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
Upright: “What should be taught is that America’s and the Western world’s uniqueness did not lie in having slaves. Slavery was universal. Therefore, the morally serious person asks who abolished slavery, not who practiced it. But the left … is not now, nor ever has been, morally serious.” —Dennis Prager
Nailed it: “Emotions neither prove nor disprove facts. There was a time when any rational adult understood this. But years of dumbed-down education and emphasis on how people ‘feel’ have left too many people unable to see through this media gimmick.” —Thomas Sowell
Friendly fire: “It feels liberating to say after years of tiptoeing around the fact, but the American left has lost its mind. It’s become a cowardly mob of upper-class social media addicts, Twitter Robespierres who move from discipline to discipline torching reputations and jobs with breathtaking casualness.” —journalist Matt Taibbi
For the record: “If you think systemic racism is real, but don’t support school choice, you are the problem.” —Caleb Hull
Memo to the Left: “Frankly, school choice is the civil-rights statement of the year, of the decade, and probably beyond. Because all children have to have access to quality education. A child’s ZIP code in America should never determine their future, and that’s what was happening. All children deserve equal opportunity because we are all made equal by God.” —Donald Trump
Missing the forest for the trees: “I’ve read the [LGBT worker] decision, and some people were surprised. But they’ve ruled and we live with their decision. That’s what it’s all about. We live with the decision of the Supreme Court.” —Donald Trump
Theater of the absurd: “The United States didn’t inherit slavery from anybody. We created it.” —Senator Tim Kaine (“The 1619 Project literally starts history in 1619, BEFORE THE UNITED STATES EXISTED.” —Ben Shapiro)
And last… “Liberal NBC News conspires with liberal Google to silence conservative [website The] Federalist months before a vote for president. Weird how Dems are no longer outraged about collusion intended to impact an election.” —Twitter satirist @hale_razor

Frisch gets mad and stomps off too easily, but I sorely miss him. Paul is the worst possible champion for his cause.
I do have an idea for George R. though, just a suggestion. Put in a special sticky thread for ‘Paul’s Prognostications’. TRUMP WENT DOWN 4 POINTS posts (no doubt followed by an invisible trump went up 4 points post no doubt) go in there. Everyone that wants to discuss TRUMP WENT DOWN 4 POINTS can do that thang, otherwise their tired old eyes are spared the visual pollution.
Maybe we could talk ToddJ to put in the TRUMP WENT UP 4 POINTS post that always gives us that average again. I could start a gofundme to make it worth his while.

Trump is really frightened about Bolton’s book but he is “a day late and a dollar short” as they say. Should be a good read.
“One thing you need to show to get temporary injunctive relief is that the relief would accomplish something. It’s hard to see the point of an injunction here, where the publisher (not even a party) has already shipped the books out and the press already has copies.”

The chi coms are not coming they are here –
Collins described the data as “sobering.”
Of the 399 scientists “of possible concern,” the FBI detected 120 (30 percent), while their institutions flagged 44, data provided by Lauer showed.
NIH determined that the vast majority, over 60 percent, of those scientists had foreign ties. Foreign ties investigations conducted by the NIH came out “positive” for 256 (63 percent) of the 399 and “negative” for 76 (19 percent). The NIH deemed the remaining 72 (18 percent) as “pending.”
According to Lauer, the fact that over 80 percent of the scientists targeted by NIH investigators are Asian “is not surprising” because “that’s who the Chinese target” in their foreign talent recruitment programs.
Nevertheless, not all of the scientists targeted by Beijing are ethnic Han Chinese.
Slightly over 70 percent (133) of the 189 scientists currently under investigation failed to disclose foreign grants, while more than half refused to reveal receiving a talent award, the NIH official noted last Friday. NIH investigators accused the others of failing to disclose ties to international companies (17) and patents obtained in foreign countries (7) as well as committing peer review violations (9) and breaking other agency rules.
The NIH blasted China’s Thousand Talents Program, noting that Beijing has used it as a vehicle to exploit its access to U.S. research labs and academic institutions. FBI officials have reportedly described the program as a form of “non-traditional espionage.”

    It’s the internet I’m afraid.
Some guy leaks an overheard conversation, not accurately, to some other guy who tweets it, who is quoted by another tweet, which is picked up by one of the clickbait TDS sites.
Then, one of our local baizuo class gathers it up in their morning glance at the ‘news’ and runs breathlessly here to give them ol’ angry white men what fer.
    ‘News craft’ at it’s finest.
The really interesting stuff (The Plague. The Blue Mob Cultural Revolution, China v. India, a potential Great Depression 2.0) is only obliquely related to Trump, but, ya know, TRUMP IS DOWN 3.5 POINTS IN LATEST POLL!
Somebody needs to reprogram the arguebots to be less boring. In some ways that’s the worst sin of all.
