[What remains the point of debates which are empty of citations that are commonly accepted by the debating parties? As I have pontificated here for some years, and am now joined by my betters like Victor Davis Hanson among others, we are so polarized that we no longer share any cognitive common ground. In other words, we arrive at venues like RR, not only with our own opinions, but also with our own unique ‘facts’ (thereby giving lie to Sen Moynihan’s dictum). The ensuing melee is then composed of nothing but ejecta of hot air flung at the other which make no lasting impact, let alone changing anyone’s beliefs. And yet, … and yet we continue to regularly assemble on both sides of this arena to dance our ferocious dances, making threatening sounds while shaking our spears and shields at the other side, like the natives of primitive tribes or beasts of the jungle that learned to wage faux ‘wars’ without really harming each other. Realizing this, perhaps we can all join in the attempt to discover the point of it all. gjr]

Trump’s pals are calling for the death of Democrats
Couy Griffin, an anti-lockdown activist who is also the head of the “Cowboys for Trump” organization, is publicly calling for Democratic governors to be killed for purportedly committing “treason.”
In an interview with The Daily Beast’s Will Sommer, Griffin defended telling fellow activists at an anti-lockdown rally that “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.”
“You get to pick your poison: you either go before a firing squad, or you get the end of the rope,” he said. “I’ll tell you what, partner, as far as I’m concerned, there’s not an option that’s not on the table.”
Defend democracy. Click to invest in courageous progressive journalism today.
Sommer reports that Griffin’s homicidal rage is becoming more common among anti-lockdown activists, despite the fact that lockdown restrictions are easing across the United States.

Here’s Trumps opinion of the Cowboys for Trump
“Cowboys for Trump member gets ‘one of the coolest phone calls’
One of the members of a “Cowboys for Trump” group who rode on horseback through Washington County last week en route to Washington, D.C., said Sunday he was getting ready to fly back home when he got “one of the coolest phone calls.”
Couy Griffin said Sunday in a Facebook video that he was getting ready to fly out of Newark, N.J., when he got a call from the White House.
Someone on the other end of the line told Griffin, a county commissioner from Otero County, N.M., that President Donald Trump wanted his phone number.
A short time later, Griffin said he got a call from an “unknown” caller who turned out to be Trump.
Griffin said he got a knot in his throat and could hardly contain his composure.
But after he did, Griffin said he and the president had a nearly 30-minute conversation.
“What an awesome guy he is,” Griffin said in his video.
“He was kind of aggravated that that he didn’t get more notice, or he would have welcomed us in. He kept just saying that ‘you guys are my kind of guys,’ and I just kept telling him, ‘you’re my kind of president,’” Griffin said.
Griffin told Trump that his group is planning another horse-riding trip into Washington, D.C., this summer and that they plan to give Trump a customized cowboy hat that they hoped to give him last week.
“He said, ‘I got 20 acres on the back lawn. I’ll open the gates up and you guys can ride right in,’” Griffin said.

re PaulE 1144am – Actually, the President didn’t want them to be hauled in front of the Judiciary Committee, because it would have been an opportunity for Dems to continue their pre-trial show. It was already clear from multiple years of investigations that the “appointees and staff” had nothing new to offer the Dems, they were just to be props for more 6 o’clock news speeches. So, they did not “refuse”, they just acknowledged the President’s reasoning and honored his wish. Those not suffering from TDS recall that the Dems never subpoenaed any of their intended props.

Looks like the troops are getting restless
In recent weeks, Democrats have been highly critical of President Donald Trump’s decision to fire several inspectors general from their positions — asserting that Trump, true to form, is showing his contempt for checks and balances. Many Republicans on Capitol Hill, meanwhile, have remained silent and are obviously fearful of saying or doing anything that might offend the president. But one Republican who is speaking out about the IGs is Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley.

I could take the time to dig out pages and pages of your quotes, but I won’t. It is not as easy as you think and a total waste of time. Yes, you never said that you voted for Obama the first time because of his foreign policy experience, but you went on and on about how concerned you were that Trump was elected with no foreign policy…was was Bubba, JFK, and a host of others not named Trump.
The last time you said you did not remember ever saying ‘that’ (about your vow to never vote for major candidate again in your life), I dug it up and posted it not once but twice. It was a waste of time.
Paul, you forgot more than you ever knew. Conveniently for you, much of what you forgot were proven later (or at the time) to be bold faced lies and Fakenews.
‘My concern is that Trump has no foreign policy experience and Putin will eat his lunch’ was one of the many concerns you kept constantly bringing up that day….and night and day.
Trump is in Putin’s back pocket. Putin will blackmail Trump. Trump committed treason….blah, blah, blah.
Indeed mercy has been shown to you. If all your falsehoods posted here were presented to you at one time covering years, it would be too much for your to bear,. It would crush you. A saving grace is that you do not have to look or remember at your record. A true act of mercy,
If you crave attention and credibility so much, you might start by being consistently right instead of being wrong day month in, month out, year in, year out. But, that would be like trying to catch the wind.

The problem I see here is that people care deeply about Obamagate. To say “nobody cares” is not accurate. To say I don’t care and thus I speak as the Royal We is more to the point.
There is not one sentence in Gregory’s link that is not documented.
Who was it that was so concerned that Trump was destroying trust in our institutions? Our faith in our institutions is being trashed by Trump! No, our faith and trust in our institutions was harmed greatly by the very actions of those who led the same institutions in the prior administration.
But, Obamagate does under the old Scattershots post, not the new one.

“Going to the last mile” was not a viable option since it would have likely extended till next year. Trump was able to use his inflated powers as a President to stop a necessary and important inquiry into the corruption in his administration. It may be a moot point since he is likely to be a one term President if public opinion continues to go in the direction it has for the last few weeks.

Where’s the Evidence of the Supposed Russian Hacking of the DNC?
“On Page 32 of the interview transcript, Representative Adam Schiff definitively asks, “Do you know the date in which the Russians exfiltrated the data from the DNC?” Interestingly enough, upon Henry’s quick response, his counsel intervenes. Henry states, “counsel just reminded me that, as it relates to the DNC, we have indicators that data was exfiltrated. We did not have concrete evidence that data was exfiltrated from the DNC, but we have indicators that it was exfiltrated.” He continues, “There are times when we can see data exfiltrated, and we can say conclusively. But in this case it appears it was set up to be exfiltrated, but we just don’t have the evidence that says it actually left.”
On Page 75 of the interview transcript, Representative Stewart asks of the leaked DNC emails, “What about the emails that everyone is so, you know, knowledgeable of? Were there also indicators that they were prepared but not evidence that they actually were exfiltrated?” To which Henry replies, “There’s not evidence that they were actually exfiltrated. There’s circumstantial evidence.”
