They don’t call him Cocaine Mitch for nuthin’. And Nancy did not name him the grim reaper for no particular reason.

‘Crazy thing to do’: Health experts alarmed by Trump’s use of unproven drug
There have been only limited results from studies on whether hydroxychloroquine could be effective as a prophylactic measure. Given the drug’s potentially harsh side effects, medical experts strongly cautioned they wouldn’t prescribe the drug to patients as a preventive measure.
“That seems to me to be a crazy thing to do,” said David Juurlink, head of clinical pharmacology at the University of Toronto. “If the drug had no side effects, it would be a reasonable thing to do.”

The Grim reaper leaves another one in the ditch –
“Well, we know these are desperate times as a result of the pandemic,” he said. “The CARES Act, which we passed a few — a month or so ago, on a bipartisan basis, only about half of that money has gone out yet. I think there’s a high likelihood we will do another rescue package. But we need to be able to measure the impact of what we have already done, what we did right, what we did wrong, correct that. And we’re not quite ready to intelligently lay down the next step, but it’s not too far off. Let me tell you what it won’t be. It won’t be a $3 trillion left-wing wish list that passed the House that they almost — couldn’t get all the Democrats to vote for, that Senator Schumer is in favor of. That’s not going to pass the Senate. It’s not going to become law.”
“We need to work smart here, help the people who are desperately in need, try to save as many jobs as possible, and begin to open up the states, which are decisions by the governors that are going on all over America now, and get this economy growing again,” McConnell added.
Widely panned by Republicans as a “messaging bill,” McConnell said another drawback of that effort was it incentivized unemployment.
“The problem was, by paying people more not to work than to work, it’s making it difficult to get people back to work,” he explained. “You can understand that. We do need to continue unemployment insurance. It’s extremely important at a time like this. But to pay people more not to work than to work doesn’t encourage resuming your job. And that will end in July. And we think that, in order to create jobs, we need to incentivize people to go back to work, not encourage them to stay home.”

The plans, which have been code named ‘Project Defend’, include identifying Britain’s main economic vulnerabilities to potentially hostile foreign governments as part of a broader new approach to national security, the newspaper reported, adding that the efforts are being led by Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.
Two working groups have been set up as part of the project, according to the report, with one source telling The Times that the aim was to diversify supply lines to no longer depend on individual countries for non-food essentials.
Johnson told lawmakers he would take steps to protect Britain’s technological base, with the government review also expected to include personal protective equipment and drugs, the report added.

I was wrong. Here I thought the Great Leftinista Media Hydroxychloroquine Meltdown was over. Silly me. Glad to see someone bringing up the rear. A day late and a dollar short. TDS never rests, never sleeps, and knows neither the limits of time and space.
Resentment means to re-feel. A lot of refeeling about Trump and the Great Hydroxychloroquinegate still going on in scattered corners, I reckon. Thought that was a one day news cycle thang. What does WHO and China say?
TDS on top of BDS leads to meltdown of the mind and emotions. Irreparable damage to mind and soul. Some would sell their souls to see Trump defeated. Somewhere along the line they lost touch with who they are. Oh well.
Remember during the build up to the release of the Mueller Report all the stories about the dying elderly who refuse to go to the other side or give up the ghost until they found out if Trump committed Treason and Kushner and Don Jr the Greaser (or is Kushner the slimeball greaser?) and Trump’s slut daughter would be “frog marched” out of the White House to share a cell at Devil’s Island for the rest of their pathetic natural lives. Barron too, butnot the sockpuppet Barron.
Yep, old people glued to CNN and the View and Maddcow the Peter Pan boy….all hoping if they will live long enough to not kick the bucket before Müeller laid bare the goods on Trump. Oh, the drama. I just gotta know! I got to got-to got-to know.
Surprise, surprise. Should have worn cowboy boots so they wouldn’t have stubbed their toe when the kicked the bucket. They should have watched old Westerns or reruns of sitcoms instead of Fakenews.

Oh, must we argue the Great Debate endlessly. To Hydroxychloroquine or not to Hydroxychloroquine is the current question of the daily crisis.
THE NOT SO GREAT HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE DEBATE
“ A final point. Trump’s critics claim that the president’s touting of hydroxychloroquine may produce real harm by causing people to take the drug recklessly.
Conceivably. But I wonder whether the left’s drumbeat against the drug — Joe Scarborough says it will kill you — will cause people who need the drug not to take it when prescribed, for example to treat lupus.
The best thing would be for Trump and his critics to stop talking about hydroxychloroquine until the results of solid medical research are in. But you know that’s not going to happen.”

Daily Quotes and a yet decided meme or two.
Insight: “Bodies grown fat through sloth are weak, and not only labour, but even movement and their very weight cause them to break down. Unimpaired prosperity cannot withstand a single blow; but he who has struggled constantly with his ills becomes hardened through suffering; and yields to no misfortune; nay, even if he falls, he still fights upon his knees.” —Lucius Annaeus Seneca (4 BC-AD 65)
For the record: “The media’s focus on the current pandemic risks missing the bigger picture of the challenge that’s presented by the Chinese Communist Party. China’s been ruled by a brutal, authoritarian regime, a communist regime since 1949. For several decades, we thought the regime would become more like us — through trade, scientific exchanges, diplomatic outreach, letting them in the World Trade Organization as a developing nation. That didn’t happen. We greatly underestimated the degree to which Beijing is ideologically and politically hostile to free nations.” —Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
Food for thought: “The Big Apple is dying. Its streets are empty. The bars and jazz clubs, restaurants and coffeehouses sit barren. Beloved haunts, storied rooms, perfect-slice joints are shuttered, many for good. The sweat equity of countless small-business owners is evaporating. Instead of getting people back to work providing for their families, our mayor talks about a fantasyland New Deal for the post-coronavirus era. Open the city. All of it. Right now. Broadway shows, beaches, Yankees games, the schools, the top of the freakin’ Empire State building. Everything. New Yorkers have already learned to socially distance. Businesses can adjust. The elderly and infirm can continue to be isolated.” —New York Post columnist David Marcus
Upright: “Mail-in ballots are a very dangerous thing. They’re subject to massive fraud.” —Donald Trump
Non compos mentis: “Voting is under assault. It is both from a systemic … nationwide campaign of voter suppression and from the coronavirus. The fear of getting sick threatens some not to go to the polls. People should not have to choose between voting and preserving their good health and that of their families. Because no matter what you do when you go out, you bring it home. Again, no one should be forced to vote for their health or vote.” —Nancy Pelosi
And last… “The media have made a bigger deal about Trump taking hydroxychloroquine than they did about Obama using cocaine!” —Gary Bauer

The chi coms have killed their once golden goose by breaking the treaty on hong kong –
Congress teed up action with the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act last November, obliging the State Department to certify each year whether China is in compliance with the Sino-British accord. If Hong Kong is no longer deemed sufficiently “autonomous”, it loses its special treatment and commercial privileges under US law.
The enclave would no longer be recognised by Washington as an independent member of the World Trade Organisation. It would be treated like any other Chinese city and face the same tariffs. There is now a mounting likelihood that this will be activated.
“Hong Kong’s future as a global city is in doubt,” said Mark Williams from Capitol Economics. Loss of US recognition would be a body-blow to the city’s status as a global financial entrepot. “Without autonomy and an impartial legal system, Hong Kong risks being eclipsed by Shanghai in finance and other mainland ports in trade and logistics.”
The 1,400 US companies operating there would drift away, many to Singapore. So would the 650,000-strong army of foreign residents. The bustling enclave would risk the sort of steep decline that has befallen so many trade and banking centres over history – Venice, Antwerp, or Amsterdam – when political shifts robbed them of their unique advantage.
US sanctions – or more accurately, loss of privileges – would hit 13pc of Hong Kong’s GDP (including re-exports) and come at a critical moment when the tourist industry is on its knees. The economy contracted 8.9pc in the first quarter.
Williams said optimists have long assumed that China benefits too much from Hong Kong’s current status as an investment and technology gateway to risk jeopardising the arrangement. Two-thirds of foreign direct investment flows into mainland China through the enclave. It now appears that Beijing is willing to pay that high price in order to contain the bacillus of democracy.
China is taking a huge political risk with its ultra-nationalist “wolf warrior” diplomacy ,breaching treaties and threatening countries around the world with rhetorical echoes of the 1930s. It is a far cry from Deng Xiaoping’s “lie low and bide our time” doctrine in the early post-Mao years, which served China so well.
It is also a huge economic risk because China has not yet broken definitively out of the “middle income trap” and is badly overextended. The International Institute of Finance estimates that China’s debt-to-GDP ratio hit a record 317pc in the first quarter. The potency of new credit has been falling for a decade and productivity growth has been slipping.

Dems should stay away from the breakfast club show –
James said Biden should think “long and hard” about what he said.
“And also, your use of the word ‘ain’t.’ You should also make sure you carry hot sauce in your purse next time,” he ended.
That dig was in reference to a 2016 incident where Hillary Clinton told The Breakfast Club — the same program where Biden made his now-infamous statement — that she carries hot sauce in her purse, a remark widely seen as pandering to the black hosts.
