[Autocracy rising, even more. Two California docs dared cross the hallowed political divide of rope-selling capitalists at Google’s YouTube and give a reasoned criticism of California’s C19 lockdown diktat. It made it on to YouTube, and then was promptly taken down by its corporatist toadies. “It’s one person – coming in from Gina,
U.S. intelligence agencies issued warnings about the novel coronavirus in more than a dozen classified briefings prepared for President Trump in January and February, months during which he continued to play down the threat, according to current and former U.S. officials.
The repeated warnings were conveyed in issues of the President’s Daily Brief, a sensitive report that is produced before dawn each day and designed to call the president’s attention to the most significant global developments and security threats.
For weeks, the PDB — as the report is known — traced the virus’s spread around the globe, made clear that China was suppressing information about the contagion’s transmissibility and lethal toll, and raised the prospect of dire political and economic consequences.
But the alarms appear to have failed to register with the president, who routinely skips reading the PDB and has at times shown little patience for even the oral summary he takes two or three times per week, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss classified material.

The head of the NIH on Feb 17: “Top disease official: Risk of coronavirus in USA is ‘minuscule’; skip mask and wash hands”
So you are basically saying that the health organizations are useless?
Gotta love those Trump ‘leaks’, cherry-picked third (or fourth) hand information with an agenda. It wouldn’t surprise me if Trump under-estimated the threat given the false alarms in the past, and that he also got a wide range of advice from a hundred people. All you gotta do is find the one guy who lucked into the correct answer and then bang the drum about how ‘WHY DIDNT TRUMP LISTEN TO THAT GUY’.
It’s like finding an investment genius who guessed a flipped coin correctly 20 times in a row, there’s always That Guy.
Listen, we’ll already all know a few things. (1) Government is pretty shitty at responding to emergencies, it’s the nature of large organizations. (2) This is all about the 2020 election at this point because Orange Man Bad. (3) Hindsight is 20/20 and everyone is an epidemiologist in an epidemic, especially CNN.

Head of the CDC on Feb 27: ““The risk to the American public is low. We have an aggressive containment strategy that really has worked up to this time, 15 cases in the United States. Until the last case that we just had in Sacramento we hadn’t had a new case in two weeks,” he said,”

Just like my acquaintance who works at the local hospital told me. Got a cancerous tumor that needs to be removed? Sorry, you have been cancelled. And the surgery workers are now wondering how they will make it without a paycheck and how they will eat.
‘The Hospital Crisis of Our Making’
“We feared hospitals would be overwhelmed. Instead, in many states, they’re emptying out and laying off doctors and nurses.
We had to destroy the hospitals to save them.
You could be forgiven for thinking that’s the upshot of the coronavirus lockdowns that have suspended elective surgeries and generally discouraged people from going to hospitals
Many hospitals are getting pushed near, or over, the financial edge. At a time when we feared that hospitals would get overwhelmed by a surge of patients, they have instead been emptied out. At a time when we thought medical personnel would be at a premium, they are instead being idled all over the country.
We are experiencing an epidemic that bizarrely — and in part because of the choices of policymakers — has created a surfeit of hospital beds and an excess of doctors and nurses.”
