[While I'm much in favor of opening up the economy sooner than later, I can't understand the Trump/Cuomo pissing match now going on (here). The President is all wet in asserting that it is only he who gets "to call the shots" on opening up the country. The country was not 'closed' on the basis of some federal imperative, and so it does not stand that it awaits the President's removal of such a non-existent imperative. In the meanwhile, the governors are in charge of lawful public intercourse in their states. As usual, Trump is burning up political capital better put to use elsewhere, and the lamestream is eating it up. gjr]

Honestly, I mean seriously honestly, I hardly keep track of anything he says. I do keep an eye on legislation and the more obvious policy things that happen. It’s hard to believe/notbelieve things you don’t read or hear. The clickbait and op-ed nature of MSM leads you to foreign newspapers.
Perhaps that’s why there’s a disconnect, that and the general concept of Emerianism. I always wonder what the fuss is about since I spend about a minute a year reading Presidential tweets, watching a news conference (zero minutes in that case), or reading articles about tweets and news conferences. If I hear about it, it’s here and usually just don’t care. I guess that counts as ‘believing’.
Maybe it’s the difference of viewing government as a big clumsy organization that produces rules and regulations and the rare direct action vs. seeing it all as one big World Wrestling Federation sporting event. If yer a WWF guy, yer gonna love polls. Dudes like Paul are all about strawmen. Everybody is as ridiculous as them but just on the other side of some arbitrary ‘argument’.

Exactly – I hardly pay attention to most all the blather out of DC no matter who is in office.
The CV19 business is a good example of how there is a huge difference in how folks react to an on-going and highly fluid situation. Our nation’s capital (no matter who is POTUS) is probably the last place I would look to for informing myself in planning a course of personal action.
Others think they need to hang breathlessly by the wireless for the Great White Father to assure them.

Seems there might be a great opportunity for Republican Governors beckoning. Trump has dropped the green flag and the field is free to open the throttle with all due deliberation. The leftists are demanding their leaders remain buttoned down, so let ’em.
Governor Gavin might do well to join the brave and let Cali assist the red states in getting the blue back on their feet, a gesture which can only be accomplished by successfully reopening your economy. In fairness, with the miraculous exception of California, the blue states have been, on average, hit harder, probably because they are more urbanized (=densely populated).
Protect the old and infirm, otherwise follow Admiral Farragut and damn the torpedoes.
Otherwise, we perish by slowly freezing in place and the bad guys have won.
(Trying not to make this too difficult for our leftist attendees to understand.)

L 9:20 – Good morning, campers. This is certainly a good reason to show why we have a republic composed of different states. The feds have control over natl port of entry, etc but the states should be able to organize and issue rules of commerce to suit their own needs – which are widely disparate.
Even within states there needs to be flexibility to match the conditions with the precautions and rules.
The left loves to clamor for Trump to issue directives unless the directives clash with their personal sensibilities.

The 17 Rules
1. Basically, you can’t leave the house for any reason, but if you have to, then you can.
2. Masks are useless, but maybe you have to wear one, it can save you, it is useless, but maybe it is mandatory as well.
3. Stores are closed, except those that are open.
4. You should not go to hospitals unless you have to go there. Same applies to doctors, you should only go there in case of emergency, provided you are not too sick.
5. Gloves won’t help, but they can still help.
6. Everyone needs to stay HOME, but it’s important to GO OUT.
7. The virus has no effect on children except those it affects.
8. Animals are not affected, but there is still a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there.
9. You will have many symptoms when you are sick, but you can also get sick without symptoms, have symptoms without being sick or be contagious without having symptoms.
10. In order not to get sick, you have to eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand and it’s better not to go out, well, but no….
11. If you are sick, you can’t go out, but you can go to the pharmacy.
12. You can get restaurant good delivered to the house, which may have been prepared by people who didn’t wear masks or gloves. But you have to have your groceries decontaminated.
13. You are safe if you maintain the appropriate social distance, but you can’t go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance.
14. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours, no, four, no, six, no, we didn’t say hours, maybe days? But it takes a damp environment, Oh no, not necessarily.
15. The virus stay in the air – well no, or yes, maybe, especially in a closed room, in one hour a sick person can infect ten, so if it falls, all our children were already infected at school before it was closed. But remember, if you stay in the recommended social distance however in certain circumstances yo should maintain a great distance, which, studies show, the virus can travel further, maybe.
16. We count the number of deaths but we don’t know how many epople are infected as we have only tested so far those who were “almost dead” to find out if that’s what they will die of…
17. We should stay locked up until the virus disappears, but it will only disappear if we achieve collective immunity, so when it circulates….but we must no longer be locked up for that?

“Brett Giroir, the federal official overseeing coronavirus testing efforts, says that his experience working on vaccine development projects at Texas A&M University helped prepare him for this historic moment. He once said that his vaccine effort was so vital that “the fate of 50 million people will rely on us getting this done.”
But after eight years of work on several vaccine projects, Giroir was told in 2015 he had 30 minutes to resign or he would be fired. His annual performance evaluation at Texas A&M, the local newspaper reported, said he was “more interested in promoting yourself” than the health science center where he worked. He got low marks on being a “team player.”

Social Shredding’: Defiant Residents Grab Shovels, Dirt Bikes After Cali Authorities Dump Tons Of Sand In Skateparks For ‘Social Distancing’
“California authorities tried to stop skateboarders by dumping literally tons of sand into at least two area skateparks in an effort to enforce so-called “social distancing.” However, the effort was for naught, it seems.
Young residents in California responded to the government’s extreme social distancing enforcement action by grabbing a few shovels, buckets, and booms and turning at least one sand-filled skatepark into a park for both skating and dirt biking.”

Democratic politics in a nutshell.
“These are strange days, indeed. But in what alternative universe can anyone imagine Joe Biden actually making it through a presidential election campaign? The party he supposedly leads stuffed him into a broom closet last week after he gibbered through a session with CNN’s leading light Anderson Cooper. They can’t just hide the poor fellow there until November 3.
Asked about reopening everyday life in America, Mr. Biden said, “You know, there’s a… uh, during World War II, uh… you know, where Roosevelt came up with… a thing, uh, that, uh… you know, was totally different than a… than the… the, it’s called… he called it the… you know, the World War II… he had the war… the War Production Board….”
Everybody knows he’s dimmer than a night-lite, and everybody’s pretending it’s okay. There’s no analog in history for any faction putting up such an empty vessel for high office. Granted, the Democratic Party has trafficked in unreality for years, from Crossfire Hurricane through UkraineGate — with side-trips like trannies in women’s sports — but those capers were just old-fashioned scams. Joe Biden for President is Emperor’s-New-Clothes caliber deceit, requiring a rank-and-file so marinated in falsehood they couldn’t tell you the difference between a red light and a green light.
etc.”

Now its time to take advantage and do what we could never do say all the socialist dems –
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Monday announced plans to form “The Reimagine New York Task Force” aimed at determining how to reform state policies after the Chinese coronavirus pandemic subsides.
In his daily press briefings, Cuomo said he wants to use the task force to “reimagine what we want society to be” with a focus on “better” public transportation, healthcare, housing, and public safety.
“Let’s use this as a moment to really plan change that we could normally never do unless you had this situation,” the governor told reporters about the plan.
Cuomo also provided an update on the daily coronavirus death toll, stating that 478 New Yorkers died from the illness on Sunday, showing the daily total has fallen for three straight days. As of Monday, New York has 242,786 confirmed infections and 13,869 deaths, according to data tracked by Johns Hopkins University. New York City, the nation’s leading hot spot, has 134,436 cases alone and 10,022 deaths.
“That number is still horrifically high,” said Cuomo. “If you’re looking for the optimist’s view, it’s not as bad as it was.”
“Emergency rooms are still at or over capacity—but it’s better than it was,” he added.
Cuomo also warned that cuts of 20 percent to schools, hospitals, could happen unless the federal government provides aid to fill the budget gaps.
“The state budget is going to be a function of what the federal government gives us,” the New York Democrat said. “I’m worried.”
Cuomo also proposed a 50 percent bonus in hazard pay for frontline workers, saying: “Thanks is nice, but also recognition of their efforts and their sacrifice is also appropriate.”
Cuomo’s remarks come as New York begins the state’s largest-ever antibody test with 3,000 residents.

Over time they’ve managed to build water and sewer systems that allow over-high concentrations of primates, but controlling the air will be a different matter. San Francisco doesn’t even appear to be able to build sewers.
There’s something a little grotesque about overdense living.
