[While I'm much in favor of opening up the economy sooner than later, I can't understand the Trump/Cuomo pissing match now going on (here). The President is all wet in asserting that it is only he who gets "to call the shots" on opening up the country. The country was not 'closed' on the basis of some federal imperative, and so it does not stand that it awaits the President's removal of such a non-existent imperative. In the meanwhile, the governors are in charge of lawful public intercourse in their states. As usual, Trump is burning up political capital better put to use elsewhere, and the lamestream is eating it up. gjr]

Trump’s role model is Capt. Bligh. Figures,
“Tell the Democrat Governors that “Mutiny On The Bounty” was one of my all time favorite movies. A good old fashioned mutiny every now and then is an exciting and invigorating thing to watch, especially when the mutineers need so much from the Captain. Too easy!” – Donald J. Trump
And Twitter responds,
“Mutiny on the Bounty was about the ruthless, unjust, tyrannical Captain Bligh of the HMS Bounty who shackled his own crew and tortured so many of his own men that they mutinied against him. It’s fascinating that Trump sees himself as Captain Bligh. It’s quite terrifying as well.”

Emery come back in drag again?
You need some historical reference? Under the war powers “stuff”, The mines right here were ordered by the “G”man
to stop mining gold. The ONLY thing there were to mine was the manganice and tungstone.(war metal) That sure took a toll on the local economy, and was done by the “FED GOV”.
Now the states are getting money from the FED gov.
Mary Emery thinks that is string free.

Merry Wanna, you’re obviously referring to the fantasy Bligh of the movie(s), not the real Bligh, not a strict taskmaster, who piloted an open craft for a month and a half, 3500 miles with limited provisions, but not losing a single soul.

Mary, your literary ignorance matches your general-purpose inanity. Mutiny on the Bounty is only the first volume in Nordhoff & Hall’s masterpiece trilogy. In volume II (Men Against the Sea), you’ll see Captain Bligh as he really was, a superb seaman who led 22 men in a longboat on a 5600 mile sail to Timor and rescue when the criminal mutineers thought they had assigned him and his loyalists (who were the majority of the crew) to certain death. Bligh saved every man of them against impossible odds, returned to England and led the later hunt for the mutineers. Those who feared retribution went with F. Christian to remote Pitcairn Island where they killed each other over the careless understocking of native women (vol. III Pitcairn’s Island). All but one were dead when the island was rediscovered in, I think, 1804. Bligh was a very great man indeed, a fact you might have taken notice of before using him as an example of your understanding of anything.

“Bloomberg News allegedly killed a story about the wealth of Communist Party elites in China six years ago to appease the country, and then sought to silence both the reporter and his wife.
The publication not only successfully censored the story at the time, but also was able to silence all reporters involved in the story, according to NPR, who broke the news. Bloomberg News reportedly tried to keep one of the reporter’s wife silent in an attempt to kill the news.”
And this asswipe wanted to be President? I’m sure the Proggy Press would have kept this quiet at all costs too.

A dude in CA was paddle boarding all by his lonesome on the water and got popped. Violation, violation, big nasty fine coming your way, criminal! Don’t have a clue how a lone soul on the water is any threat to anybody or has to do with stopping the Plague.
A guy was at the park alone with his son in Connecticut (or Vermont, NJ ?). playing caught with the baseball and the dude got arrested!! Son taken too. Hope he doesn’t lose his boy to CPS and the minor becomes a ward of the State. That’s fighting the Plague for sure.
Yesterday I posted about Michigan where the Gov ordered big box stores to not sell any items not on her list of approved items, i. e., food, medicine and the bare necessities. Aisles containing flooring, paint, etc must be closed off, including the nursery departments.
So, no tomato seeds for Walt, no new toilet handle rod for the toilet handle mechanism that just broke (me), and no paint can be sold.
Seems to me if a fellow comes in the paint department to buy some paint (with a note from the wife approving the color in advance), well that man or woman is taking advantage of the mandated ‘Stay Home sucka!’ and plans to hunker down painting the bathroom, bedroom, panty, back of the house or the tool shed. What, a gallon of paint is going to kill us all???
Today, at random, not the most shocking example, but run of the mill. Fuck heads have gone power mad and nobody is saying anything.

Trump only wants ass kissers in his administration and at his briefings,
“The more we learn about what went on behind the scenes during the critical early days of the coronavirus pandemic, the more Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar had emerged as a rare and unlikely hero pushing the White House for an early response.
Speaking truth to power has its price in the Trump administration. The former Eli Lilly executive was shouted down by White House aides as “alarmist” and sidelined by Jared Kushner, Mike Pence and others willing to give the president a more rosy view. And on Sunday night, Trump lashed out at Azar by name for the first time, following a New York Times report that Azar had “directly warned Mr. Trump of the possibility of a pandemic during a call on Jan. 30, the second warning he delivered to the president about the virus in two weeks.”
After complaining about “mayhem” at the White House, Azar’s future is uncertain but his attempts to get top officials and President Trump to pay attention to the coming pandemic should not be lost in the fog of war as Trump recasts history in his favor.

Looks like the trolls bromance jake tapper is vying for the title of po’ ol’ fakenewsman –
But to anyone paying attention, something was off… Was way off, and Tapper, who has become one of the most shameless liars in all of media, lied to his few viewers by way of omission. You see, Tapper did not want his audience to know that publicly Fauci had been telling the country everything straight through to March 9.
As we reported Monday, Fauci’s previous comments don’t jibe with the premise he accepted on CNNLOL — that he had recommended closing the country in mid-February and Trump refused to listen.
You see, on March 9, Fauci told America it was still an act of “good judgment” to hold a political rally in certain areas, and that it was still okay to book a cruise if you weren’t elderly or sickly. On February 29, he told America it was okay to go the mall, the gym, and the movies.
But this glaring contradiction didn’t interest Tapper and the rest of the fake media. They had their sound bite! They had The Only Man To Listen To During This Crisis paying off their gamble.
And then, during Monday evening’s briefing…
It all exploded in their fat, smug, lying faces…
In an impressive act of grace and humility, Fauci stood in front of the world and took back what he said on Sunday. He not only took it back, he took it back without caveats or reservation. And then he did something even more important…
The Only Man To Listen To During This Crisis completely and forever annihilated the New York Times’ report along with the fake news media’s most treasured narrative, the one that falsely claims Trump did not listen to the experts.
In the ultimate vouch, Fauci informed us that Trump did and does take his advice, and that the president acted on every formal health recommendation made to him, acted on them immediately, acted on them every single time.

Mary @ 4:22 Almost certainly, social diseases were carried to the Pacific from Europe, but very doubtful that a Royal Navy ship on a multi-year expedition will have had any contagious diseases aboard. The idea of blaming Cook (or Columbus, et al) for spreading disease is pointless. I grow weary of the ignorant and tiresome rantings of the left as to the bad, evil white men and the simple, childlike POC and the destruction of Eden by sailing adventurers.
It turns out now that POC (the Chinese) have spread (more than once) deadly diseases due to their backward customs and their vile, and criminal govt.

ANOTHER DISHONEST SMEAR BY THE WASHINGTON POST [WITH COMMENT BY PAUL]
“Yesterday’s Washington Post carried an attack on South Dakota and its governor, Kristi Noem, under the headline South Dakota’s Governor resisted ordering people to stay home. Now it has one of the nation’s largest coronavirus hot spots. The Post’s article is popular on Twitter, as liberal “blue checks” use it to express their hope that lots of South Dakotans die as punishment for their temerity in electing a Republican governor.”……..
“But wait! It is obvious even to a casual reader that the Post’s attack makes no sense. The article acknowledges that the Smithfield plant had already “been deemed essential by the federal government,” so no order Noem might have issued would have applied to it in any case. The Smithfield experience had nothing to do with Noem’s policy.
One is tempted to stop there. The Post’s attempted smear obviously missed its mark. But let’s continue.“
