   Jim Geraghty’s researches were published by NRO a couple of weeks ago and were completely convincing then, as today. The strongest likelihood is that the virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology by accident through the agency of a woman nicknamed ‘bat lady’ for her research focus, or a young man who was exposed while capturing the subject bats.
   Wet markets still deserve to be closed forever, but not for having caused the Xirus.

   Sorry George but your statement that the Epoch Times is “an independent non-partisan news outfit rapidly gaining a reputation for their no-nonsense reporting.” seems to contradict what Media Bias/Fact check has to say. According to mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-epoch-times the Epoch Times is:
   “borderline Questionable and Right Biased based on editorial positions that consistently favor the right. We also rate them factually Mixed due to the publication of pseudoscience and the promotion of pro-Trump propaganda and conspiracy theories as well as failed fact checks.”

   RobertC 556pm – Nothing to be sorry about here Mr Cross. Your citation is of an acknowledged leftwing media ‘fact check’ outfit that gives itself away in its TDS exhortation of the President, which it didn’t have to do were it a non-partisan enterprise. But the real thing to be sorry about is that you and yours are not able to refute the factual claims and reporting of the Epoch Times – all you can do is what you always do, attack the messenger whose message does not conform to the ongoing leftwing narrative. Wanna take another crack at it?

    The Chinese have a history of shoddy and sometimes criminal manufacturing practices.
    The drywall and melamine adulterated baby formula scandals come to mind.
    The Washington Post has an article today that suggests they did not run their Wuhan lab in a safe manner.

    Everyone knew it was a problem –
    A Chinese laboratory at the center of new theories about how the coronavirus pandemic started was the subject of multiple urgent warnings inside the U.S. State Department two years ago, according to a new report.
    U.S. Embassy officials warned in January 2018 about inadequate safety at the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab and passed on information about scientists conducting risky research on coronavirus from bats, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

    Is there any question that the WHO is a lap dog for the chi coms? –
    Australia’s prime minister has described as “unfathomable” the World Health Organization’s support for the reopening of markets where live animals are butchered in Wuhan, the Chinese city at the center of the coronavirus pandemic.
    “We need to protect the world against potential sources of outbreaks of these types of viruses. It’s happened too many times. I’m totally puzzled by this decision,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison told Nine Network television on Tuesday. “I think that’s unfathomable, frankly.”
    Health Minister Greg Hunt said he was unsettled by the reopening of the “wet markets” in Wuhan, which has been under a months-long lockdown. Some scientists believe the virus came from wild animals at a wet market, where many kinds of live mammals, poultry, fish and reptiles are kept and then butchered when they are sold.
    “There is a very real likelihood that this disease arose from a wet market in Wuhan — it’s clear that these are dangerous vectors,” Hunt told Australian Broadcasting Corp. “I would imagine that around the world, the vast majority of people would have a similar view.”

    Wet markets are an abomination, a cultural issue. If China wants them it would be a nice touch to keep virology labs of all safety levels far away, meaning many times the 0.3km they have in Wuhan between China’s first (only?) BSL4 lab and the Wuhan wet market Xi pointed the world towards when people started dying.
