You can see the priorities for some people –
The Los Angeles Times reports that gun stores are one aspect of the economy seeing a surge in business as Californians react to coronavirus news.
According to the LA Times, the line of customers at the Martin B. Retting Gun Shop in Culver City stretched out the front door and around the block on Saturday. Many of those in line waited five hours for their opportunity to buy a gun.
The owner of Laguna Guns & Accessories in Elk Grove, California, told the LA Times he has not seen guns sell at this pace since just after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Marijuana dispensary and liquor store sales are also surging.

The Newport Police Department posted the surprising message on its Facebook page as shoppers across the country have flocked to supermarkets to stock up on supplies amid the coronavirus pandemic that has put much of the world on edge.
“It’s hard to believe that we even have to post this. Do not call 9-1-1 just because you ran out of toilet paper. You will survive without our assistance,” NPD wrote.
The department then offered numerous alternatives if people couldn’t find their “favorite soft, ultra plush two-ply citrus scented tissue.”

Why can’t Republicans get any traction on the Ukraine/Biden connection?
London (CNN)When Republican lawmakers this week abruptly canceled a plan to subpoena a former Ukrainian official in their investigations into the energy firm that hired former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, they said it was to allow more time for senators to receive additional briefings.
But a Ukrainian magazine editor has told CNN that the target of the subpoena, Andrii Telizhenko, once offered him money to lobby US senators on behalf of pro-Russian media outlets.
A former Ukrainian diplomat, Telizhenko is an ally of Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, and has been an enthusiastic proponent of the debunked theory that Ukraine, and not Russia, interfered in the 2016 US elections.

Are you referring to me?
To my knowledge, you can still buy sans FFL pre-1899 guns (California has an odd additional rule concerning the ammunition not being commonly available), air rifles, parts kits but dunno about unfinished receivers. There’s probably some explosives rule that makes Gyrojets not allowed.

My (former) 1866 US Calvary issued single shot rifle was not a firearm. The ATF classified that baby as ‘an antique’. Not a gun. Once, in a mischievous mood, I dressed particularly hobo-esque, drove went to town and walked up and down streets and downtown carrying the heavy long arm. Sure enough, somebody called the cops as planned. Or maybe the cops saw me. Anyway, I pulled out the AFT classification, documentation, papers of bill of sale, and even whipped out my ATF explosives and transportation permit (at the time) just to show off. Anyway, I did that once. I made my argument that this in not a firearm or gun or weapon, lol. After that, I never wasted my time or LE’s time again. I just had to try it once. 🙂
Discretion is the better part of valor. Just because I can does not necessity mean I should. :). Akin to the Constitution ruling that it is an expression of my free speech rights to flip off a cop. However, something tells me that it may not wise to exercise that right. Besides, I am pro-LE. (Hope Shannon Moon reads this). I am a good guy!
BTW, that 1866 rifle was the standard issue US Calvary single shot rifle used by General Custer’s troops at Little Big Horn. The Native Tribes were no dummies. They went to Canada and got repeaters….a fact we have discussed here before. Custer plenty blew Big Horn….which is why his most notable quote may be “War is Hell”. :).

Well, I gotta compliment Punchy for using his real name. Thus, the definition of our Punchy Troll does not quite fix. The Matrix is not perfect:

Still, I wonder sometimes when Punch takes offense and answers in the first person at a comment directed at a third party troll. When I was a kid, trolls were ogres hiding under the bridge. 🙂
