President Trump delivered his best speech ever giving the nation its State of the Union. He ticked off an impressive list of accomplishments that benefitted every corner and population segment of the country. He did a masterful job in selecting and managing the events in the gallery that honored and represented the many deserving. And there was nothing nasty in his words, presented themes, and visions for America’s future. All this while the Democrats sat like sore pustules in their seats denying the uncomfortable truths of accomplishments while they have spent their energies in trying every sleazy trick in the book to bring this president down simply because he beat their Chosen One.
But the prize and truly historical moment of disrespect came at the end of the speech when Speaker Nancy Pelosi, sitting behind the President, visibly made a show of tearing in half her copy of the speech and throwing the pieces on her desk in full view of the American public. With that Great Divide play she bet the ranch that Americans see their country and future through the jaundiced eyes of the radical left progressives. To my knowledge, no American political leader has publicly so vehemently and visibly dissed another political leader in the history of our Republic. I believe she will live to rue the day in the coming months, because we will see that planned and egregious tantrum over and over again as the election approaches.
The 2020 election season officially started tonight.
