Gun Control Activist Promotes False Data To Uphold Anti-Gun Propaganda
In light of the West Freeway Church shooting in White Settlement, Texas, gun control activists are blaming gun access and conceal-carry laws for the rise in gun deaths in the United States.

“There are many problems with Watts’s analysis, beginning with the fact that Texas has one of the highest state populations, making statistics between states incomparable. When Texas is compared to all 50 states and Washington D.C. factoring in gun deaths per population, it falls to number 27, making Texas far from the highest rate of gun violence.
In fact, CDC data shows that since 1990, homicidal and suicidal gun deaths per capita in Texas have fallen bellow the rest of the U.S. population.
“The graph tweeted by Watts also fails to differentiate types of gun deaths. According to the CDC, the “firearm-related deaths” referenced in Watts’s graph is not limited to deaths by mass shooter or deaths by homicides. Causes of death included in “firearm-related injuries” includes: suicides, homicides, terrorism, accidental misfire, and legal intervention involving firearm discharge.
For instance, in the West Freeway Church shooting that took place on Sunday, the shooter was shot and killed. This was considered a heroic act and saved many more lives, but it would be considered a “firearm-related injury” according to Watts’s data. So would a suicide, so would the death of a terrorist, so would the death of individual shot by a policeman or other legal authorities. This data simply does not take into account the entire picture or encapsulate the entire problem.
This narrative and messaging is completely on brand with Democrats and the mainstream media. They ignore the big picture and put a laser focus on the issues they wish to highlight, no matter how out of context these issues may be.”

Could have been at a movie theater, a shopping center, or anywhere. Most of the time it’s at a connivence store when customers shoot the bad guy with a gun. One guy in Britain was forced to use narwhal tusk to fend off an attacker before the police arrived and shot the mo fro dead.
When seconds matter and police are two minutes away. Who are you going to call? Ghost Busters? Hide behind a sheetrock wall in your home? That won’t stop bullets. Nah, run towards the killers and fill the place with smoke, guns blazing. Seconds matter at home, at work, at play. Whatca going to do when the killer takes out the armed security at the door like what was done at the Pulse Nightclub massacre?

Waldo 1159am – US presidents don’t have the ability to unilaterally “allow” or prevent “wackos to run wild with guns”. President Trump is on record for preventing the mentally deranged from having guns, but not at the cost of abrogating the 2nd Amendment. I think most RR readers are in agreement. Only leftists believe that law abiding citizens should not have the ability to defend themselves or resist a tyrannical government with their own firearms.

Thank you for making a great point. Bad guys do not obey gun laws. The only ones who abide by gun laws are the good guys. Writing a 1,000 more gun laws will not stop the bad guys whom the law was intended for. Only the good guys get hurt. But, you knew that.
Suppose tonight you are at a club having a good time and some crazy person walks in and starts shooting up the place, violating scores of laws. Heck, the crazy by law was not to possess a gun in the first place. Whatz ya going to do? Call KVMR?

I expect it’s just a short term solution. In the long run, odds are you’ll see the last few Americans getting a helicopter ride from the US embassy in Iraq. It isn’t like Arabs (or Persians) respect diplomats. Even the Soviets knew enough to transport the German ambassador out of the country a couple of weeks after Barbarossa.
I’m starting to think that the proper (and safer) answer for dealing with crazy third-world countries is a form of technology embargo. As long as you don’t sell them nuclear technology, airplane parts, computers, or refinery equipment, and keep most of their people bottled up, you can essentially ignore them.

I don’t have to define “tyrannical” at this point, and neither do you. But when our government becomes tyrannical, everyone will know. It is for that time in our common history that our Founders bequeathed us the 2nd Amendment.
