[Trump keeps sticking his foot in it at every turn. Now enough crap is starting to pile up so that a significant number of Rs are starting to voice opposition. That can mushroom in the Senate and end his administration. Right now the immediate pile consists of 1) Ukrainian pro quids per Mulvaney, 2) Abandoning Kurds in Syria, and 3) holding the G-7 in his Doral digs. All of which could have been avoided if someone would only tell him, 'Mr President, STFU!!' gjr]

Dr. Rebane @ Oct 20, 2:44 pm sez:
“The ground truth of all collectivism is the Big Lie told to the poor and ignorant – your misery is the fault of those who have and produce, for they have cheated you out of your things and jobs. The Big Lie has come in various formats since the time of Lenin. Today his American progeny are the socialist Democrats who have no message of how they would create and spread the wealth, save take from those who already have it. These are very old ideas that go back to the caveman, and they resonate today as much as they did 10,000 years ago.”
(Un)Surprisingly, the article dovetails nicely with the above Dr. Rebane writing, albeit on a different focus. When the people lose hope, the people perish.
“Within the research published by Mind Share Partners, SAP and Qualtrics, a stunning fact emerged that should stop us in our tracks: About “half of Millennials and 75% of Gen Zers have quit their jobs for mental health reasons.” We have a bumper crop of frail individuals who can’t live life because of what they’ve been taught, what they now believe and how they respond to reality, in the workplace and in life at large.”

I went back and actually watched the video linked by Jeffie… there were only two (2) LMU students identified in the march vid … one an “environmental studies” major (a senior) and the other a “studio arts” student.
So, Jeff’s headline, “LMU in the news” was, as is usual for Nevada City Fats, a total misdirection. A descriptive and truthful sentence would have been, “Two LMU students march in the LA climate protest”. LMU was NOT in the news… even if you accept the student newspaper website as an equivalent to the LA Times.
Jeff’s goto logical fallacies are argumentum ad populum and argumentum ad verecundiam… and he completely skipped over the issue I raised… his smearing my choice to attend LMU as a convenience… it being just one mile from my office at HUGHES… but Phi Beta Kappa putting its seal of approval on LMU just rolls off Jeff’s backside.

Two articles I found interesting. First, VDH goes back to his theme of why do they hate Trump so. Hint: It’s his policies, stupid. That is the real threat.
“But the real source of their antipathy is his agenda.”
https://www.amgreatness.com/2019/10/20/why-do-they-hate-him-so/
——————————
The second article is about Trump’s threat to the status quo (the Beltway Boys) viewing government through rose tinted glasses.
“When Trump took office, there was a lawsuit over whether the president of the United States even had the authority install his own director of the agency, which was weirdly ironic, because the previous director of the CFPB was initially installed with the unilateral authority of President Obama in a bold move that the Supreme Court unanimously declared unconstitutional. As for the idea that “policies can be argued about and reversed,” the CFPB is still standing — anyone remember the last time a major federal agency was shuttered because Americans decided it was ill-conceived or unneeded?
While we all sit on pins and needles trying to suss out the details of Warren’s Medicare For All plans, the fact that her vision of America, one that vastly exceeds any honest constitutionalist’s understanding of how things are supposed to work, is bearing fruit isn’t just a matter of Warren having different ideas about policy. It’s the culmination of a progressive project lasting over a century that, charitably speaking, puts forward a vastly different understanding of human nature and morality than most Americans subscribe to, and was part of a deliberate plan to erode constitutional restraints by undermining the “norms, values, standards and soul of this country.”
“So then, do we live with Trump, who lays bare all the problems with what happens when naked self-interest collides with power? Or do we tell ourselves some “regulative fiction” that pretends those who populate our sprawling administrative state are somehow above their own selfish impulses and can be counted on to act in the best interests of voters, when that is plainly untrue?
If you’re wondering how Trump voters can continue to ignore Trump’s issues, it’s not even obvious to lots of voters that Trump opponents and D.C. institutionalists such as Sen. “Pow Wow Chow” Warren, Hillary “Lay off Weinstein” Clinton, and Adam “I have more than circumstantial evidence Trump colluded with Russia” Schiff are an obvious contrast to Trump even as a matter of personal corruption.
The chaos of the Trump administration may yet prove intolerable, and there are lots of conservative or sympathetic voters who didn’t vote for Trump, out of concerns that he would be petulant, unstable, and immoral. But if it’s a choice between dealing with Trump’s foibles, which are challenging at best, and pretending the immorality and dishonesty of the system he threatens — a system that will almost certainly outlast him — is somehow a better option, don’t be surprised that so many people are sticking with Trump even through impeachment.
Trump is sui generis in many ways, but voters are probably right to suspect that anyone who threatened the existing order would meet Resistance, as anyone who watched the political press cheer Obama on when he spent months calling Mitt Romney a felon in 2012 can attest to. There will be an election soon, and voters can have their say about Trump directly.
Until then, expect lots of Americans to largely ignore impeachment and a perpetually outraged press corps. As National Review’s Michael Brendan Dougherty recently put it, “I refuse to participate in a news cycle that I suspect has been led by John Brennan typing crazily in a WhatsApp group about how he’s finally vanquished the ‘pestiferous stain upon our Republic.’”

Science and politics. Science vs social narratives?
“I Asked Thousands of Biologists When Life Begins. The Answer Wasn’t Popular”
“Shortly after being awarded my Ph.D. by the University of Chicago’s department of Comparative Human Development this year, I found myself in a minor media whirlwind. I was interviewed by The Daily Wire, The College Fix, and Breitbart. I appeared on national television and on a widely syndicated radio program. All of this interest had been prompted by a working paper associated with my dissertation, which was entitled Balancing Abortion Rights and Fetal Rights: A Mixed Methods Mediation of the U.S. Abortion Debate.
As discussed in more detail below, I reported that both a majority of pro-choice Americans (53%) and a majority of pro-life Americans (54%) would support a comprehensive policy compromise that provides entitlements to pregnant women, improves the adoption process for parents, permits abortion in extreme circumstances, and restricts elective abortion after the first trimester. However, members of the media were mostly interested in my finding that 96% of the 5,577 biologists who responded to me affirmed the view that a human life begins at fertilization.
In my dissertation, I proposed three possible motivations for these hostile reactions:
-Motivated Reasoning: Respondents experience cognitive dissonance when they recognize that their view of a fetus as a human complicates their political convictions in regard to abortion policy.
-Cultural Cognition: Respondents fear that public recognition of the scientific views they are expressing could lead to other people supporting abortion restrictions.
-Identity-Protective Cognition: Respondents fear that expressing their views may serve to estrange them from pro-choice liberals, on whom they might rely for social, emotional, or financial support.”

Who is running as a Third Party candidate ? I have not heard much. No Ross Perot, no Dennis K, no John Anderson, no Ralph Nader, and no Pat Paulson?? Maybe we will have to wait until after they have their convention….’they’ meaning the smaller Independent Parties and the DNC.:)
Speaking of 3rd Parties, it was baffling to me why Hillary accused Tulsi of plotting to run as a 3rd Party Candidate. If I was more of a conspiracy theorist, I would say that is Hillary’s evil attempt to bring back the “Russia Russia Russia!” Red Scare to the forefront and Hillary is laying the groundwork to throw her witch’s hat into the ring. Afterall, she has been watching the Dem debates as well. Those debates are why Tom Steyer jumped in and got Michael Bloomberg toying with the idea again himself. Hillary to the rescue, and not bloodied and bruised by the debate process or hard questions! Time will tell.
Speaking of Hillary, did anyone else note that the Hillary Industrial Complex floated that David Duke endorsed Tulsi over the weekend!!! Hmmm, Deja Vu all over again. How many times, how many hours did Punchy, Robert ‘Always Wrong On Lost Trail’ Crosswoman shouted about David Duke liking Trump. Oh, connect the dots. Proof! So, Tulsi is in Putin’s pocket and David Duke likes her!!!! All coming from the Clinton camp. Excuse me if I don’t fall for the latest Clinton Smear Machine coordinated attack….without a bunch of reasonable evidence. I’m sorry, but I have seen that song and dance before. Personally, I would love to see the young, quick, tough Tulsi debating the old bag one on one on any stage, anytime. The Throwin’ Samoan with the beautiful face and presence versus the old sea hag. The comic relief of Hillary falling down the stage steps would be fodder for memes, for sure.
If everybody is a Russian asset, then nobody is. But, then again, Hillary does have her machine intact.
Funniest Headline of the week:

‘That was the one thing that was missing from her response.’

biguns 157pm – This sackhead just keeps letting us know how liberals view the world. I saw no Mulvaney meltdown, no matter how hard Chris Wallace (FN’s main liberal anchor) tried. This once more illustrates my ‘no common ground’ assertion – we can both be looking at the same thing and each of us sees it 180-differently. Given that, what possibility is there to open up any kind of productive dialogue?

For the record: “The United States and Mexico have a confluence of interests in stopping the flow of third-country ‘asylum-seekers’ heading for the American border. Mexicans love their country, as they should, and they’re tired of foreigners using it as a doormat.” —Mark Krikorian
Race bait: “It is no longer sufficient not to be racist — each one of us must commit to being anti-racist going forward.” —Beto O’Rourke
Non compos mentis I: “[The Russians] are going to do third party again. I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on [Tulsi Gabbard] and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s a favorite of the Russians and they have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.” —Hillary Clinton
Non compos mentis II: “Donald Trump is Vladimir Putin’s dream. He said that the biggest catastrophe in history was the collapse of the former Soviet Union. As a former KGB guy, he is intent upon undermining democracies and trying to lay the groundwork for a resurgence of Russian greatness as he posits. And Donald Trump is delivering that to him on a daily basis.” —Hillary Clinton
Non compos mentis III: “[Trump] has no democratic instincts, really. And I saw that when I was secretary of state and traveled to 112 countries. One of our big problems were people who got themselves elected and then became authoritarian and then did everything they could to rig elections, everything they could to make sure that they were never forced out of power. That is his game plan. That is what he’s trying to achieve.” —Hillary Clinton
And last… “Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. … It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.” —Rep. Tulsi Gabbard

The Manhattan district attorney and attorneys for President Donald Trump have come to an agreement to pause the enforcement of a grand jury subpoena for Trump’s tax returns until after an appeals court issues their opinion and perhaps until after the Supreme Court is asked to hear the case.
In a letter filed Monday with the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, lawyers from D.A. Cyrus Vance’s office said they’ll hold off on trying to enforce the subpoena against Trump’s accounting firm until after the court of appeals publishes their opinion and after either one of the sides asks the Supreme Court to examine the case.

“Under former President Obama, the FBI began its probe into alleged Russian election interference on behalf of Trump in July 2016. The Trump administration appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel in May 2017.
Connecticut U.S. Attorney John] Durham has also requested to talk to CIA analysts involved in the intelligence assessment of Russia’s activities, prompting some of them to hire lawyers, according to three former CIA officials familiar with the matter. And there is tension between the CIA and the Justice Department over what classified documents Durham can examine, two people familiar with the matter said.”

Here you go Lefties!! Seattle has just out LIBed Frisco!

“Seattle is set to tax residents for using home heating oil in an effort to move the city away from a dependency on fossil fuels.
The city’s Democratic Mayor Jenny Durkan in late September signed into law a bill that could prove costly to those unable to keep up with emerging home technology. A tax on heating oil for homes will go into effect starting next summer, giving residents of Seattle less than a year to make costly adjustments or risk paying even more in taxes.
The tax, which some critics deem a “sin tax,” will be to the amount of $0.24 per gallon. The genesis behind the law is to continue the city’s push to be carbon-neutral by 2050.”

“The science is there and it says that it is unfair,” Hood said.
Additionally, Jen Wagner-Assali, who placed third behind McKinnon at last year’s World Championships, called McKinnon’s first place finish “unfair.”
Responding to Hood, McKinnon posted a lengthy statement on Twitter Sunday, which deemed Hood transphobic and argued that “fairness in sports” means transgender “inclusion.”
“Ms. Hood has expressed an irrational fear of trans women. An irrational fear of trans women in the dictionary definition of transphobia. Transphobia has no place in sport,” McKinnon wrote.
“Dr. McKinnon supports trans people’s right to compete in their legally recognized gender,” the now two-time Masters Track Cycling World Champion added. “Fairness in sports means inclusion and respect of every athlete’s right an identity. #SportsIsAHumanRight.”

Trudeau appeared to overcome a challenge in Monday’s national elections from the rival Conservatives four years after he channeled his father’s star power to become prime minister.
CBC projects Trudeau’s Liberals won’t win the majority of seats in Parliament and will have to rely on another party to pass legislation.
Handsome and charismatic, Trudeau reasserted liberalism in 2015 after almost 10 years of Conservative Party government in Canada, but a series of scandals combined with high expectations have damaged his prospects.

“Police Groups Slam Beto’s Plan to Send Cops to Collect Americans’ Guns
Police say confiscation plan is ‘ridiculous,’ unconstitutional, call O’Rourke a hypocrite”
“In interviews with the Washington Free Beacon, leaders from groups representing hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers described Beto’s gun confiscation plan as “ridiculous,” “asinine,” and likely unconstitutional.
“Their comments come after Beto told MSNBC on Wednesday that he would send “law enforcement to recover” firearms from those who would not comply with his buy-back plan. O’Rourke vividly described the plan at September’s Democratic primary debate, declaring that “hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”
A leader of the National Fraternal Order of Police—the nation’s largest police union, representing more than 330,000 sworn law-enforcement officers—said that not only was Beto’s plan unlikely to be constitutional but that Beto himself was unlikely to ever be elected.
“Mr. O’Rourke may not be aware that state and local police officers (who comprise more than 90% of all police in the U.S.) receive their orders from their local jurisdictions – not from the Federal government,” Jim Pasco, executive director of the FOP, wrote in an email to the Free Beacon. “Further, any such legislation, if it passed, would no doubt be vigorously litigated with a view to its apparent inconsistency with the Second Amendment.”
“In view of the foregoing, and in view of Mr. O’Rourke’s current standing in the polls, we do not view this as an issue we will have to grapple within the foreseeable future,” he added.

“It’s just asinine,” the source said. “I get why they’re doing it, but it’s fantasy land. We can’t even get the guys on the hill to to talk about level one and he’s at Defcon twelve. It’s like, ‘good luck with all that.’”

Man oh man do the wokesters in the fakenews business know how to destroy a once profitable public service that is now just an echo chamber for the socialist dem clown car. –
The former “CBS This Morning” host — who is getting paid at least $7 million a year by CBS News boss Susan Zirinsky to revive the perennially third-ranked newscast — is getting hammered in the ratings worse than her predecessors did.
In the last week alone, O’Donnell’s total viewers plunged 17 percent to 5.1 million, according to Nielsen. Among viewers in the crucial demographic ages 25 to 54 that’s coveted by advertisers, the drop was a heart-stopping 25 percent.
The slide has steadily accelerated during the past month, with weekly ratings in the key age group falling between 20 and 29 percent versus a year ago. That’s far steeper than the single-digit drops during the year-and-a-half tenure of her predecessor Jeff Glor, who was pulling down $2 million a year, according to a source.
