'If you nominate Loony Liz, you won't get any money from us.', say heavy Dem donors to the DNC.

Dem Rep Schiff's characterization of the Ukraine telecon transcript is historically one of the most audacious stream of lies fabricated out of whole cloth and bearing no relationship to what was in the released document.  Does anyone know of a lamestream outlet that has called him out on that?  (and more Dems' lies here)

[27sep19 update] Socialist "France said it would cut taxes on individuals and businesses by €10.2B as Macron seeks to revive his economic overhaul."  Whouda thought, as our lefties have been telling us for years that tax rates don't affect economic behavior? (more here)

[28sep19 update] The recent spate of spontaneous worldwide demonstrations against AGW are really not that spontaneous nor even locally sponsored.  Turns out they're the handiwork of a bunch of progressive rich people contributing money through something called Climate Emergency Fund, that then sends the cash to the worldwide chapters of Extinction Rebellion which actually collects and organizes the know-nothings into newsworthy protests primarily picked up by lamestream outlets. (more here)  H/T to reader.

It is blatantly obvious that if billionaires can save millions in their taxes from going to the under class, they can invest that money in something else. Jets, hot tubs, young boys . . . it’s famously known as trickle up economics. Show us the proof that ain’t so. Reagan would not approve.

In more tempered and reasonable societies the one making an assertion is required to substantiate it with some supportive evidence. In insane societies it’s the asserter who demands that his audience prove his assertion to be false, else it must be taken to be true.

What is insane is for someone to demand “proof” that when people pay less in taxes that they keep more money to spend. Just as insane is to demand “proof” that when WIC, food stamps, and school meals are denied because supportive taxes are cut, that some people are denied the ability to eat well.

Seriously, there is proof that what Barron stated is true coming out your ears…including data coming from official analysis coming out of the Trump Departments of Commerce and Treasury.
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/annemarieknott/2019/02/21/why-the-tax-cuts-and-jobs-act-tcja-led-to-buybacks-rather-than-investment/#70cc962f37fb

But then again…we needed to boost the stock market so Trump could look good, and buybacks did that….but what is next?
    https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/22/investing/stock-buybacks-drop-tax-cuts/index.html
And of course businesses spent some of that money on capital projects and R&D too…
    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tax-cuts-fuel-stock-buyback-spike-130545937.html
Finally, in the strongest economy in several decades during the Obama/Trump recovery wages have been relatively stagnant…according to Just Capital and Americans for Tax Fairness….in the first year of the tax cuts almost $1 Trillion went to stick buy-backs to inflate the value of the stocks and $7.1 billion went to increased wages.
    https://americansfortaxfairness.org/key-facts-american-corporations-really-trump-tax-cuts/
    https://justcapital.com/reports/the-just-capital-rankings-on-corporate-tax-reform/
So in short, Barron is correct, the rich got richer, the workers did not.
Finally, in the strongest economy in several decades during the Obama/Trump recovery wages have been relatively stagnant…

JB and SF – I would suggest you go back and review the chain of comments and notice that JB started with one idiot premise and then pivoted to something completely different.
It is certainly true that in a static situation if a billionaire is presented with two different tax amounts to pay, then obviously in the example of him paying the lesser amount, he will have a greater amount to invest, (more jobs) purchase more real estate, (more taxes) buy an airplane (more jobs) or simply shovel into his money bin (ala Scrooge McDuck) that left wing folk think exist. None of that has anything to do with childrens’ breakfasts.
The amount of money spent by the fed or any state govt on food for the poor has nothing to do with the actual amount of money incoming to that particular govt.
No child (includes the plural for light thinkers) in this country has gone hungry in order that a billionaire might then purchase a jet aircraft.

You want the stock market to go down?

Of course that has something to do with chillin getting breakfast. If your theory is that rich people getting tax cuts leads to increased jobs, increased tax revenue, and increased investment…then wouldn’t giving tax cuts to poor people to use as discretionary spending do the same thing WHILE reducing tax revenues having to be used for social program spending?
Why not do a $1 Trillion per year tax cut and target it to the lower 50%? They are certainly going to spend all the money. The illogic of the trickle down versus the trickle up theory here is pretty clear.

Once again, WTF are you talking about? I have been at SBC since 2000 and I do not remember any time we have ever asked for free rent….ever…and I would have been involved in any such agreement.
To be clear, we had a landlord who donated a small portion of our rent once…which is their right as a private citizen. Just like you can donate to your church if you want to or George can donate to Music in the Mountains (or buy a little good will with KVMR by donating for building construction.)
I know you hate the point that the organization I work for provides a service and gets paid for it, and that at times it might be worth more than heavy equipment operating or Todd’s ‘retired builder’ income, but envy is an ugly emotion. I really can’t help it that you are not worth more in the open market, but you made those choices and will have to live with them.

Nope, I don’t want the stick market to go down, but then again I think you need to think about how stick buy-backs actually work.
    https://www.investopedia.com/articles/02/041702.asp
The bottom line no matter how one cuts it is that dividends from stock buy backs are taxed at a lower rate than capital gains or income, thus tax revenue to local, state and federal treasuries are lower than distributing the benefit of taxes cuts to employees, who are taxed on income PLUS sales tax through spending discretionary income.
In short, return the benefit of tax cuts to workers is better for the economy because it has a greater stimulus effect.

“In more tempered and reasonable societies the one making an assertion is required to substantiate it with some supportive evidence.”
George has been going off on the lack of “supportive evidence” given by leftwing posters with regard to statements they make and how the righties always support their statements with ‘proof.’ ‘Proof’ on this blog means posting link, and in the case of the right wing posters, usually a link from sources proven to be extremely biased and even purveyors of falsehood. Does trump calling a story fake news make it so? Does calling the publishers of stories that don’t fit the trump narrative “enemies of the people” make it so?
My point, George, is that there is no point to providing a link. In a “tempered and reasonable” society the primary standard is what would a ‘reasonable’ person think or do. In the age of trump a reasonable assessment of information has been replaced by partisan hysteria. . Most links in support of the extreme right wing dialogue presented here are bogus and any link provided by the left wing is readily dismissed as fake news or some outlandish conspiracy theory as stated by such outstanding journalists (just kidding) as Sean Hannity or Geraldo Rivera. So, in reality, there is no purpose to providing links as evidence because one can always find a link to support any theory or conspiracy. Someone once said in the presence of a polished con man the only thing a person can use as a guide to judge the truth is their gut feeling. If one were to discard that partisan hysteria, what does your gut tell you about Donald trump? All of his high crimes, misdemeanors and lies can’t all be false. All of the investigations can’t all be witch hunts..unless that is simply what you want to believe. The con is on.

But when he responds it will be to say, “what, you trust CNN, or Bloomberg, or actual government statistics, let me show you what Breitbart, the Competitive Enterprise Institute or Heritage have to say about it… what a rube you are.”
And the game of discounting the other sides facts, and never actually being able to agree on what a “fact” actually is will go on…to be leveraged to sow division and demonize the opponent… in order to soften the ground for authoritarian leadership.

Ah yes – the Scrooge McDuck money bin.
Of course that money is injected back into the system.
    It’s not a ‘theory’.
If you wish to increase your income, I would suggest something other than lusting after the money the wealthy have. It belongs to them, fair and square. They pay far far higher rates than you. If you would like to reduce poverty, I would suggest having the poor emulate the ones previously poor. The ones that were poor, but changed their location, lifestyle, work habits, whatever was needed to get themselves out of poverty.
Otherwise, you are left with the sorry fact that the govt can not ‘buy’ people out of poverty. The results of the ‘war’ on poverty speak to that.

Frisch – “really simple equation, food for children or jets for fat cats.”
Sorry Frisch – you’ve gone off the rails. There is no direct link.
It just doesn’t work that way. We are feeding our kids. There are no bodies lying around piling up. The biggest health problem with the poor is obesity. The ‘workers’ will feed their children no matter what, if they care about them.
As far as ‘answering’ your question –
It would be very hard to figure out which scenario would provide more actual dollars to the govt in the form of taxes as you would have to lay out a very specific and detailed example of each side of the question and then go through a pretty complex model of each choice.
Also the idea that ‘workers’ don’t own or are affected by stock valuations and dividends is false. There is no ‘either or’ there. A lot of workers own stock and certainly thousands more have their pensions heavily dependent on stocks.
If a ‘worker’ wants to increase his or her income, I would suggest changing jobs, or making their labor more valuable to society.
