[The Union tells us that there will be demonstrations 'Striking for the Earth' at the NC and GV city halls this Friday.  These deluded citizens have no idea that their anthropomorphized Earth doesn't give a big rat's ass about ongoing climate change.  And what still eludes these sincere but factually deficient folks is that consensus science is NOT science – discovering ground truths about our universe is NOT a democratic process.  gjr]

    A group of Arizona Democrats are demonstrating why President Donald Trump will more than likely be a two-term president.
    The party’s liberal wing simply cannot resist the temptation to shoot itself in its Birkenstocks.
    Witness the liberals riding in on their unicorn, hoping to censure the first Arizona Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate in 30 years.
    It seems Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is just not Democratic enough. So the party’s progressive caucus is asked the Arizona Democratic Party to censure her on Saturday. The party has decided to push the vote to its annual meeting in January.
    “We really support Kyrsten Sinema, we want her to succeed, we want her to be the best senator in the country,” Dan O’Neal, state coordinator for Progressive Democrats of America, told The Republic’s Yvonne Wingett Sanchez. “But the way she is voting is really disappointing.     Moreover, numerous other causes of death outnumber those from mass shootings, even when shooting death figures are reported higher than they actually are.
    For example, Forbes reports there were nearly 5,000 motorcycle deaths in America in 2017. If we divide 5,000 by 12, for the 12 months of the year, we see roughly 416 deaths by motorcycle each month, versus the report of 53 deaths via mass shootings in August 2019.
    The National Safety Council reports that 5,051 people died from choking in 2015. Which means eight times as many people died from choking, on average, each month–420 people–than did from mass shootings in August 2019.
    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports approximately 3,536 drowning deaths in the U.S. annually, which works out to about 294 a month.
    FEMA reported 3,645 deaths by fire in 2017, which is roughly 304 deaths by fire a month on average. Monthly levels of death by drowning and death by fire are much higher than the report of 53 deaths in a month from mass shootings.

    “It began with the Times’ report of a new sexual allegation against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Before the paper belatedly confessed the “victim” had no memory of any such incident, the charge provoked a gaggle of Democratic presidential candidates to call for Kavanaugh’s impeachment.
    Then, just as the mob started to realize there was no there there, a new media storm appeared, this one saying the president had made an alarming promise to a foreign leader.
    In an instant, the frenzy was back and some of the same jackals again lurched for the I-word. Sen. Elizabeth Warren even denounced fellow Dems, saying those opposed to impeachment were “complicit.”

    China already lost in the trade war with the U.S. Although you will never hear Chinese authorities, especially President Xi Jinping, admit it as such, the evidence is everywhere and only becoming more compelling by the day.
    Researchers at the Brookings Institute estimated that China had inflated its GDP growth rate by close to 2 percent every year between 2008-2016. So in reality, China hasn’t seen a 6 percent growth rate for nearly a decade (someone should send a copy of this to Premier Li). Moreover, the actual size of the Chinese economy was an estimated $10.9 trillion, 18 percent lower than the officially stated $13.4 trillion, as of 2018.
    Beijing can’t count on Chinese consumers to stimulate economic growth either because of rising pork prices. Pork is a staple food for Chinese households. Since the trade war began, China had imposed higher tariffs on agricultural products from the U.S., with the tariff on pork rising from 12 to 62 percent. China hoped that causing pain to U.S. farmers would pressure Trump to back off his trade war. That strategy failed spectacularly in two ways. First, while U.S. farmers are suffering and are critical of the trade war, their support for the president is growing. Bloomberg reports that, “about 67 percent of farmers are saying that they’d back Trump for reelection in 2020.”
    China exempted U.S. farm products, including soybean and pork, from additional tariffs, effective Sept. 17. This announcement was seen widely as a goodwill gesture ahead of the October trade talks between U.S. and China. But this seems to be a desperate, self-serving measure, because all the other pork exporting countries combined couldn’t fill China’s supply shortage. Simply put, China has a need of pork from the U.S., and its suspension from additional tariffs is, in essence, a tactical and indirect acknowledgment that it won’t be able to sustain this trade fight for much longer.
    It also doesn’t help that, after Iran attacked Saudi oil facilities this month, oil prices spiked and may stay elevated. Nathaniel Taplin of the Wall Street Journal called China “the biggest loser of rising oil prices,” because it is the world’s largest crude oil importer.
