Must be in tune. Been thinking the same thing for a couple of days. Judging by the Resistance’s comments lately, they just don’t see inspired or overly optimistic about 2020. They were much more confident a few months ago about stomping out Trump. Now they just nitpick and focus on Todd Derangement Syndrome.
Maybe it’s Sleepy Joe already taking a vacation and came back needing another one. Who knows. I caught about 3 minutes of Trump in New Hampshire going through his riff of accomplishments and laying out this vision for America. I just stood back and could not imagine any Dem standing up to him. The charisma, the gravitas, the star power, the command of the stage, his presence, his unwavering utter confidence. The clarity of purpose. I imagined Lizziy Warren trying to complete with that. Saw something in that 2-3 minutes as defining.
They had venders selling tee shirts and MAGA hats off the road 17 miles from the arena. It reminded me of what someone told me years ago. The guy lived in New York in one of the boroughs. He heard a commotion, felt something in the air. He saw people coming out of their apartments and into the streets. He could not see what was going on, but he went down to join the swelling crowd. People where coming from all the avenues. It was Jimmy Carter walking down the streets of New York with folks spontaneously following him like the Pied Piper.
Once was in a club and out of nowhere, I could feel a surge of excitement in the air. Didn’t know what it was, but it was semi-electrifying. What was it? Ali had walked in the place. It that “thing” I can’t describe. Nothing to do with looks or intelligence or knowledge. It an ingredient that you either have it or you don’t. AOC has that “thing quality”. Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan do not. Neither does Biden or Warren or the next Democrat nominee. As the HRC campaign said early on, they were prepared for the 17-19 R candidates, but there is nothing in their playbook for taking on a TV personality. They only knew how to destroy politicians, but this was new.
Anyway….I am waiting for the energy level of my friends on the dark side of the street to rise and up their game. They just don’t seem positive about anything. Like telling someone with a frown and withdrawn introspective look in their eyes to “smile”, only to have them shoot back, “What’s there to smile about?” They just don’t have that thing going on for them.
Life has lost its pleasures for them. A sad lot. They confuse anger with purpose. Maybe some shock therapy will help them snap out of it. It takes more muscles to frown than to smile.

I have good news. Leaving CA story. A couple I have known for many moons left CA. They both worked in a hospital, he ran a whole department and she was a receptionist or something. Down in Santa Cruz area. Two different hospitals. In fact, he was so good that UC Davis Medical Center and others wanted him to run their labs, but he declined.
Anyway, the wife was feeling bad and kept asking the doctors to check her out, run tests, and figure out what is going on. She kinda knew. They did not find anything, but she knew it was something bad. A gentle spirited woman, she kept asking for them to check.
So, they move out of state to fly over country and the local hospital there zeroed in and found the problem instantly. Tumor, Stage 3 cancer in the bowels area. Bingo. Oh, the couple called and raved and raved and raved over the care she is getting, how wonderful all the medical people are, and they have never seen such care ever, despite spending years working in hospitals. They are so happy they want to fly me out and visit their new place.. Her treatments are showing amazing process.
Leaving CA may have saved her life.

The other good news is a couple days ago I had to go down to Placer County. Picked up a Canadian quarter in the change. I hate that, and usually catch those worthless coins and don’t let it slip by me. Oh well. On the way back, I saw some roach coaches at a park and stopped to grab some grub. Good grub if you know what to look for and check them out first.
Anyway, there was this freaky old hippy sorrowful looking guy playing his guitar nearby. So, I walked over and threw some coin in his beggar’s open guitar case laying on the ground in front of him. I was most pleased to get rid of that Canadian quarter. Life is good indeed.

THE NEW YORK TIMES REWRITES AMERICAN HISTORY
What does it mean to be a liberal in today’s world? More than anything else, to be a liberal is to be anti-American.
In the Times’ view — which it hopes to make the view of millions of Americans — the country was actually founded in 1619, when the first Africans were brought to North America, to Virginia, to be sold as slaves.
This year marks the 400th anniversary of that event, and the Times has created something called The 1619 Project. This is what the paper hopes the project will accomplish: “It aims to reframe the country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding, and placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the story we tell ourselves about who we are.”
The coincidence of slaves arriving in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 has been seized on by liberals as an excuse to talk more about slavery–a subject that an objective observer might think had already been talked to death. The “400th anniversary” was to be celebrated by the City of Minneapolis in bizarrely racist fashion, with “white bodied” and “black bodied” city employees attending different consciousness-raising sessions. Those events were canceled after we brought them to light.
The basic thrust of The 1619 project is that everything in American history is explained by slavery and race. The message is woven throughout the first publication of the project, an entire edition of the Times magazine. It begins with an overview of race in America — “Our democracy’s founding ideals were false when they were written. Black Americans have fought to make the true.” — written by Times writer Nikole Hannah-Jones….
The idea that “everything in American history is explained by slavery and race” has become conventional wisdom on the Left. Basically, nothing good has ever happened here, at least not until recently. The Left now includes the public schools, so that one of my kids came home from second grade with the understanding that Martin Luther King had freed the slaves.
The essays go on to cover the economy (“If you want to understand the brutality of American capitalism, you have to start on the plantation.”)…

The fakenews is so wrong again. WINNING! –
Nearly half of the manufacturers, 47.9 percent, said tariffs had no effect on selling prices. Another 10 percent said there was a significant or slight downward effect.
Another 35.3 percent said the tariff had a slight upward effect on prices.
The results appear to confirm that the main effect of tariffs in the U.S. has been to squeeze corporate margins rather than to tax U.S. consumers. In the survey, 44.9 percent of manufacturers said there was a slight downward effect on their bottom lines, while 6.5 percent said there was a significant downward effect. On the other hand, 11.6 percent said there was a slight upward effect and 3.6 percent saw a significant upward effect.
This suggests that it is misleading to describe the Trump tariffs as a revival of “protectionism.” Older protectionist measures were typically the result of domestic manufacturers seeking to boost their bottom lines at the cost of higher prices to domestic consumers. Here it appears that domestic consumers are not paying higher prices.

“Illegal workers fled a number of Georgia food processing plants this past week after highly-publicized raids by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency at five Mississippi plants.
This month, ICE agents conducted the largest workplace raid in more than a decade across five food processing plants in Mississippi, netting the arrests of 680 illegal aliens. That same day, though, ICE officials said they released about 300 of the illegal workers back into the U.S. on “humanitarian grounds.” More than 200 of the illegal workers had prior criminal records and a federal criminal investigation is expected to result in convictions of the employers at the plants. The raids have already resulted in job fairs at some of the plants seeking to hire locals.”
“Though it is unclear which food processing plants in Hall County saw their illegal workers flee following the ICE raids in Mississippi, the region is home to plants such as Koch Foods of Gainsville, Victory Foods, Koch Meat Inc., and Cargill Inc.”

Intersectionality on the West Bank??? Riddle me this, Omar and Tliab
INTERSECTIONALITY ON THE WEST BANK
If Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar had made their visit to “Palestine,” their time would have been devoted exclusively to bashing Israel. Their attacks would have combined American-style leftism with Palestinian religious solidarity. And yet, as Scott has pointed out more than once, there are obvious tensions between Islam and the contemporary Left, as embodied by the Squad. What branch of Islam is it, exactly, that celebrates abortion, homosexuality and transgenderism?
It would be interesting to see a reporter ask Tlaib or Omar about this news story: “PA Bans LGBTQ Activities In West Bank.”
The Palestinian Authority has banned members of the Palestinian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community from carrying out any activities in the West Bank.
The ban came after the grassroots group Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society, (Arabic for the bow), which engages and supports Palestinians who identify as LGBT, was planning to hold a gathering for its members in Nablus at the end of this month. …
Explaining the decision to ban the LGBT group from operating in PA-controlled areas, Luay Zreikat, spokesperson for the PA Police, said that such activities are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.”
Zreikat said that the group’s activities were completely “unrelated to religions and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus.”
He accused unnamed “dubious parties” of working to “create discord and harm civic peace in Palestinian society.”
The PA police will chase those behind the LGBT group and see to it that they are brought to trial once they are arrested, Zreikat warned. He further appealed to Palestinians to report to the police about any person connected to the group.
Members of the Al-Qaws group report receiving death threats. (“[M]any are calling for our execution. We are afraid for our lives.”) Of course, it could be worse. They could be in Iran, where Omar says all problems are caused by the U.S. There, they would be hanged from cranes. We eagerly await comment from Rashida and Ilhan.

Virtual Signaling to make the blues go away. VDH
Note a recent inexplicable Zogby poll that indicated 51 percent of blacks and Hispanics might support Donald Trump. How would such a supposedly counterintuitive result even be possible?
I have a suggestion: minority communities live first-hand with the violence and dangers of the gang gun culture. More policing and incarceration of guilty felons improve their lives. Secure borders mean fewer drug dealers and cartel smugglers in local communities, fewer schools swamped with non-English speakers, and social services not overwhelmed with impoverished non-Americans.
These can all be real concerns for beleaguered minorities. Yet they are virtue-signaled away by progressive elites whose own power and money allow them to navigate around the consequences of their own liberal fantasies that fall on distant others.
Add in a booming economy, rising incomes, and low unemployment for minorities, and the world of shrill yelling on the debate stage about “white privilege” seems some sort of an irrelevant fixation of the elite and privileged, akin to showing off a Gucci bag or Porsche Cayenne—but otherwise nothing to do with dangerous streets, wrecked schools, whizzing bullets, and social services that are becoming inoperative.
The next time a legislator, mayor, or governor rails about plastic straws or the Paris Climate Accord, be assured that his state’s roads are clogged, his public schools failing—and he is clueless or indifferent about it.

Judicial Activism squashed…for the moment.
Fox News reports: “A federal appeals court sided with the Trump administration on Friday in the legal battle over its efforts to limit asylum claims from Central America — blocking, for now, a nationwide injunction that blocked the implementation of the rule. … The San Francisco federal appeals court for the 9th Circuit on Friday ruled that the injunction imposed by the California federal judge can only apply in states within the court’s jurisdiction in the western U.S.”
Bill sez: The 9th Circuit covers a lot of western states like Nevada, Montana, Washington, Hawaii, but the only two states under the 9th Circuit’s jurisdiction that abut our southern border are CA and Arizona.

More on individual Federal judges issuing nationwide injuctions..
“Columnist David Horowitz reveals just how partisan Gilliam really is. “In 1996, the Northern District of California, the very court over which Gilliam presides, ruled that the president has ‘inherent executive authority’ over denying entry to aliens,” he writes. “That is the purpose of this border wall.”…
“Justice Clarence Thomas believes SCOTUS must enter the fray. “These injunctions did not emerge until a century and a half after the founding,” he states. “And they appear to be inconsistent with longstanding limits on equitable relief and the power of Article III courts. If their popularity continues, this Court must address their legality.”

More on the Virtue Signaling by the Left to distract from the real issue and real problems where the rubber meets the road. Walter E. Williams
“Here are my questions to those who blame racial discrimination for the problems of black people: Is it necessary for us to await some kind of moral rejuvenation among white people before measures can be taken to end or at least reduce the kind of behavior that spells socioeconomic disaster in so many black communities? Is it a requirement that we await moral rejuvenation among white people before we stop permitting some black youngsters from making education impossible for other black youngsters? Blacks were not the only people discriminated against in America. While Jews and Asians were not enslaved, they encountered gross discrimination. Nonetheless, neither Jews nor Asians felt that they had to await the end of discrimination before they took measures to gain upward mobility.
“Intellectuals and political hustlers who blame the plight of so many blacks on poverty, racial discrimination and the “legacy of slavery” are complicit in the socioeconomic and moral decay. Black people must ignore the liberal agenda that suggests that we must await government money before measures can be taken to improve the tragic living conditions in so many of our urban communities. Black and white intellectuals and politicians suggesting that black people await government solutions wouldn’t begin to live in the same high-crime, dangerous communities and send their children to the dangerous schools that so many black children attend.“

Nature Magazine publishes it list of blacklisted Climate Deniers, catching even some of the 97% Agreeing Climate Change True Believers consensus fellows in its snare. Oh my. Let the games begin.
“With respect to climate, as on pretty much every other issue, the Left is losing the argument and responds by trying to silence those who point out the facts. The jury is still out on whether this will prove to be a winning strategy, but on this particular front, it appears that the bad guys are in retreat.”
“Roger’s unpardonable sin, going back over a decade now, was embarrassing Al Gore, by pointing out that some of his arguments in his climate horror flick “An Inconvenient Truth” were not supported by the UN science reports, and that some of his reasoning about weather-related disasters were so poor that Gore actually changed his slide show. The first commandment of the climate orthodoxy is Thou Shalt Not Deviate from the Talking Points, even if the “consensus” science contradicts them.”

Preamble to my 3:15 pm. Did you make the list?? Anthony Watts did. More reason to celebrate!
“I downloaded the list of “climate change contrarians,” and what do you know? John and I are both on it. And based on the numerical score they assign to everyone, I am ranked 40th among climate change contrarians! (Marc Morano is number one, with a raw score of 4171, compared to my raw score of 262. Morano is truly the Pete Rose and Hank Aaron of climate contrarians.) I feel good about my score since I more or less quit doing climate change issues seven years ago in preference to old fashioned law and political philosophy in my current post as a traditional academic. The whole subject has become such a tedious and repetitive bore that I’ve run out of new things to say about it, and I get easily bored repeating myself. I don’t think I’v e been quoted in a news story—or even called by a reporter—for more than seven years now, and yet my old record is still good enough for a #40 ranking. This only goes to show how weak the climate change cause is, if I can rank so high on their enemies list while doing virtually nothing. Besides, with the climatistas embarrassing themselves on a daily basis, I don’t really need to do much besides sit back and fire up my coal-powered popcorn machine.

Holy Smokes, another fool quotes Zogby the Arab! What in the tarnation is going on today?
“Last Thursday, a self-described “Feminist” dad and “Gun Sense Reform Advocate” who happens to be white posted an incendiary tweet in which he said he would say “#FTrump and f you” to anyone he saw wearing a MAGA hat in public, calling MAGA wearers “racist, xenophobic, homophobic, misogynistic, bigoted hate-mongers.”
Reply:
“Please, miss white lady, tell me what my interests are? Because I’m just some slow black guy and I don’t know any better, right?”
“The constant drumbeat of the Left for decades is that blacks have no business voting for the Republican Party, despite the fact that it was Republicans who ended slavery; that Democratic president Woodrow Wilson segregated the entire Federal civil service and threw civil-rights leader William Monroe Trotter out of the Oval Office; and that Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s very first Supreme Court Nominee, Hugo Black, had been a member of the KKK, as had been former Senate Majority leader Robert Byrd.
“As Mona Charen noted in National Review in 2015, 99 Democrats signed the “Southern Manifesto” in 1956; only two Republicans signed it. She stated, “The Southern Manifesto declared the signatories’ opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision in Brown v. Board of Education and their commitment to segregation forever.”
“Rasmussen Reports stated on August 2 that Trump’s support among blacks had risen to 32%. As recently as last Thursday, pollster Jonathan Zogby, noting Trump’s support rising in general, stated, “Race also played a factor in Trump’s job approval rating. Hispanics, this time around, were much more likely to approve of his job performance (49% approve/51% disapprove), while the president also saw his numbers jump with African Americans. This was his second straight poll with over a quarter support from African Americans (28% approve/70% disapprove). If Trump wins half of Hispanics and a quarter of African Americans in 2020, Democrats will be in trouble!”
The Democrats will be in trouble? Will be? Will be, the writer sez. Me thinks they are in trouble now. Have you seen the fools that are running for the Dem nomination and the even bigger fools that support them? Oh my. Mercy.

In the “yet another lie to cover up anal bluster”. trumpy and his goons have been claiming that the tariffs on Chinese goods aren’t costing American consumers anything.. well not so fast trumpites….according to JP Morgan analysts the current tariffs are costing Americans $600 a year and when the new tariffs scheduled to go into effect Sept. 1st and Dec. 15th, kick in the cost to American consumers for trumps bluster and threats will rise to $1,000 per year. Contrary to trumpian proclamations, the added costs of the tariffs are passed on to the consumer.

Does that make us winners? Yep, the left could not field breathing candidate who had better numbers than Trump. BoobieC just can’t accept his part in the fiasco of the left/.
Tariffs don’t exist if people buy American made so what this tells me is the manipulation by China to devalue their currency is so low they are still competitive. So BppboeC coddling the Chicoms has worked. Thanks BoobieC for keeping the Chicoms strong. Next you will blame us when they invade HK.
Steve King makes gaffs just like BoobiC’s hero Biden. But with Biden BoobisC still won’t condemn him. So BppbieC you are just another leftwingnut hypocrite.

The troll touts a guesstimate as proof yet the cost indexes do not reflect that at all, they are actually trailing inflation when you take out non-tariffed items.

CNN has turned into a caricature of a news network and is not even any good at it. You get caught lying your ass off for 2 years of rancid Russian dressing and you viewers will flee. They earned that spot in the basement and not even the trapped people in airports and gyms can save them now!
Neither CNN nor Chris Cuomo have offered “an apology to the black community” for repeated use of the mocking label “Fredo,” despite both describing the term as an “ethnic slur” and an equivalent to “the n-word,” noted Paris Dennard, former CNN contributor, on Monday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
Dennard examined CNN’s pretense as a non-partisan and politically objective news media outlet, highlighting CNN’s plethora of Never Trump personalities marketed as “Republicans.”
“It seems as if they masquerade as someone who wants to have Republicans on, right?” asked Dennard of CNN’s political veneer. “They say, ‘Let’s put on some Trump supporters,’ but the moment the Trump-supporting person on the network gets popular or gets really good, they find a reason to bench them or to take them off, but they’ll keep the Republican on that might be a Never Trumper or someone who is against the administration on into perpetuity.”

In the “I really won the popular vote, really really I did…. just ask me” category —
Trumpy, once again, claimed election fraud this time citing a study by Robert Epstein (no relation one hopes) who claims that Google’s search algorithms could have given Hillary Clinton up to 16 million votes from undecided voters. Google says the study is flawed because Epstein only interviewed 90 total people only 21 of whom were undecided voters. Trump’s bogus claim comes just days after Ellen Weintraub, the chair of the Federal Election Commission, wrote a letter to the president telling him to shut up about his vote-fraud claims or come up with evidence that there’s any truth to them. She said she was using words a “former casino operator” could understand: “You need to lay your cards on the table — or fold.” Just think of trump’s mighty investigative panel on voter fraud that came up with nothing and disbanded. Hillary Clinton responded to the latest round of bullcrap by saying, “The debunked study you’re referring to was based on 21 undecided voters. For context that’s about half the number of people associated with your campaign who have been indicted.”
and there you have it trump fans…more of the same ole same ole…from the trumpster. Have any of you considered mental illness is his problem? he keeps repeating the same lies over and over and over even though they have been debunked ….#SICK PUPPY
