Gotta thank jigger for bringing it up. But he didn’t take getting his head handed to him on the subject very well.
The idea of “if there were no guns, there would have been no mass killings” was a novel shuck and jive.
Let’s make the question simple for the LIB mentality.
Just what law ( now stay in relative reality) that is not on the books could stop any mass killings? Most of the recent killers had no criminal past that a background check would have caught.
Keep in mind that there is no way your going to get high capacity magazines out of circulation. It ain’t going to happen.
Kinda like the war on pot. None of you followed the law.

Anti-Trump Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, said House Democrats should impeach the president to curb his political donor list and stifle his campaign’s fundraising efforts ahead of 2020.
Green appeared on MSNBC’s “Weekends with Alex Witt” on Sunday and cited a poll claiming 51 percent of voters saw Trump as racist. He also said that even if Trump isn’t convicted in the Senate, the process would serve to hurt his campaign coffers.

I think the Bottomline here is that our Lefties are deathly afraid of guns. Just the sight of a gun makes most of them feel most uncomfortable. Apprehensive. They don’t want one in their homes, no way Jose. Very scary. Gives them bad juju feelings. Stirs up negative emotions. Just the image of a gun turns their heads turns their safe place between their ears into a bad neighborhood with no Neighborhood Watch.
So, if they don’t want a gun anywhere near them or their community, no one should have a gun…except government officials, movie stars, and first responders.
Black gun scary. Scary.
Remember when some of us (moi) mocked their ever lovin’ mass meltdown after Trump’s surprising victory? Hillary Hodge, Brad Croul, pundits, Fakenews in unison? They were saying I worry for my gay friends, I am scared for all the Latinx children and all my make believe friends who are worried and hurting across the fruited plain? Some suspended dating as Mother Bear was needed to kiss their boo-boos.
What they were saying is they were running on fear. Words could not console them. You can not argue with someone else’s feelings. Can’t argue with feelings. Waste of time. We are seeing the same thing with guns….once again. Their fears need to be addressed rather than dismissed. Their feelings must be validated. We must listen to their concerns and take them seriously in a serious manner.
A glance at the Union comments is quite telling. They are not spending time grieving over the victims in El Paso or Gilroy. They are not holding up in reverence or sorrow the slain and wounded. No, it’s all about them. It’s all about their feelings. They are scared. They are afraid what might happen if they go to Costco. They are running on fear. It’s ok to be afraid of the sight of a gun. Just don’t own one. But, noooo. Everybody must feel as they do.

Someone questioned why I sent my report to the Stanford President. My experience in life is you can either sit around and jawbone or you can jawbone and then turn that into action as well. I am a person that doesn’t just yap. If you want to solve something you must get your ass up and moving. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. The world is full of people that think they are much smarter than others but for some reason never progress. Others do something and move forward. They overcome inertia. So that is why I sent my post to the guy. He might just find out who the broad is and have a different view of her qualifications. Perhaps boot her sorry ass out of the place. Or maybe not. I take the chance he will.

Biden is the gift that keeps on giving. I can understand some gaffs, but confusing Parkland with Sandy Hook (2012) while he was VP is a bit concerning. Parkland was not that long ago. Seems like just last year the local Lefties had the big Townhall in Nevada City, broadcast live on three different mediums. Lunch bucket Joe’s mind is slipping. I hope he increases his lead in the polls over his rivals. 6-9 months from now he really will a scrambled mess.

Still, it’s hard to imagine the woman in question would get reprimanded for what is considered praiseworthy behavior among her colleagues. Especially considering she is on vacation and concerning what you witnessed is everyday normal behavior and speech on campus. Some folks go to campus and never leave. I just loved Walt’s little ditty of Jefferson quotes…it stands as kind of the perfect example of his disdain for history and scholarship.
The CNN article hit it perfectly with this quote, “I do not know if Jefferson actually ever made such a statement or not, (but) I find it odd that many people attribute it to him if it wasn’t true. It’s ridiculous in my opinion to propose that since nowhere in his writings there is trace of such a statement, then Jefferson has never said something like that. Jefferson could have come up with those words in any occasion of his public or private life and someone else recorded and then quoted him.”
Yep, Jefferson had a mouth and was known to speak, so prove to me he did NOT say this!

Sorry if my ‘complaint’ was not clear, allow me to clarify.
The ‘complaint’ is that Walt, as evidenced in the cited post, is amongst the large number of people who spread false quotes from Thomas Jefferson to support maintaining gun rights in the 21st century, and using a clear logical fallacy to support his premise.
When the falsity of those quotes is pointed out he resorts to the same types of argument that the individual quoted in the article does, “prove he didn’t say it.” This is the logical fallacy of negative proof, or the claim that because a premise cannot be proven false, the premise must be true.

Proving a negative is generally an impossible task. It’s what the Kavanaugh conspiracy theory was all about. One could add that ‘Trump colluded with the Russians to win an election’ conspiracy hoax is another example, albeit not the best example. Maybe the current “there’s a White Supremacist in the White House” is a better example. Nah, Kavanaugh putting quaaludes in party cups and running a serial gang rape operation is disproving a negative. Nah, strike that.
I will go back to the best example, Christine Blasey Ford. Said Bret jumped on top of her and covered her mouth. Can’t name a time or place, section of town, how she got to the party, who drove her, every witness she named could not collaborate her story or that she was even there, yet she said an assault happened. Can’t prove a thing, yet can’t prove it didn’t happen.
It would be like me saying Steve stole the wallet of a hitchhiker he picked up 1983.
Quotes are a bit different. Someone in a small town somewhere as quoted by a preacher or small town paper or letter to a loved one may be the first documentation attributed to a quote, but, as you pointed out, hundreds could have picked up on it and uttered it themselves. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.

re BillT 947am – Is such a requirement to prove a negative also working well in the ‘impeach Trump’ effort by the Left in which its basic argument is that while there is no evidence of the man’s collusion or obstruction, there remains the requirement to still prove that he did not collude or obstruct? And absent fulfilling that requirement is sufficient cause for the House to indict for not having proved his innocence of high crimes and misdemeanors.

I truly feel that monster is alive, already safely transported to a lovely spot where he can continue his “services” after he gets a high-end facial reconstruction-job so he can live happily ever after…. One thing I have not seen mentioned. Suppose you are now a woman who as a minor had sex with some of the most powerful men in the world at Epsteinville. Suppose it was a business tycoon, or international person of renown. Now that Epstein is out of the picture, what is there to protect those that came forward? Mr. Big of shady reputation now knows your name. He knows that you know. What is there to stop Mr. Big from ordering your murder before you can give a deposition? Or later in life? Or to keep that threat over your head to keep quiet. You know that he knows that you know. You can run, but you cannot hide. With Epstein out of the picture, you are out there on your own in a big world. Blame Epstein and point the fingers at him to your heart’s desire and sue the heck out of his estate and get closure….but it might be wise come down with a case of fuzzy memories when dealing with those who are not named Epstein or his socialite girlfriend.
The limelight of today will not last forever. What are you going to do when the press packs up and moves on to another story. Who is gonna watch out for you then?

Another setback for team lefty and comey –
Newly obtained documents confirm that James Comey’s FBI was running a secret and corrupt counterintelligence operation against the Trump campaign in the summer of 2016 and repeatedly deceiving the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) thereafter in order to wiretap a Trump campaign associate.
The disclosure was the result of a federal lawsuit and a year of litigation. Despite efforts by FBI Director Christopher Wray to obstruct, a federal court issued an order that forced the FBI and Department of Justice to produce the records known as “302 reports.” They are a summary of interviews FBI agents conducted with Bruce Ohr, a top DOJ official.
These 302s show that the FBI and DOJ were warned repeatedly by Ohr that ex-British spy Christopher Steele was virulently biased against the target of their investigation, Trump.
That bias tainted the credibility of the “dossier” Steele composed and upon which officials in the Obama administration relied when they officially launched their counterintelligence investigation on July 31, 2016. The “dossier” was also the basis for the surveillance warrant against former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page.
