[Was going to intro this sandbox with a comment on the current Trump/Cummings imbroglio, but reader Todd Juvinall's comment in the last Scattershots covers it pretty well.  "Elijah Cummings district is truly a shithole district. Most of the urban blight is contained in the areas represented by the Con Black Caucus. With over 40 members I have watched them most of my political years and they are as impotent (as) Steve Frisch. Their districts are shitholes. We see the same thing now in LA with the Hispanic Caucus. If they would cast off their leftist robes of failure and embrace Republican values and ideas they could revitalize their shitholes. But they won't. The press is siding with these failed politicians against Trump. He sure says what is true."  gjr]

The reason that Dem managed cities for the last couple of generations have turned into shithole communities is evident on how their grassroots constituency views the causes of such derelict governance. Observe how AVMan 452pm blithely sheds his party’s responsibility for creating uniform misery in dozens of America’s urban areas. Socialists in every country where they hold the reins want the power and shed the responsibility for the inevitable misery they create.
Please note all the national voices defending Baltimore as a fine upstanding community don’t mention a word that every one of its metrics is in the toilet, and its population is decreasing

Culture. Culture. Culture. We are, as has been clearly demonstrated on these very pages, in the midst of a culture war. In an effort to win the culture war, progressives must claim that Trump is a racist in order to hide the complete deficiency of their ideology. If you want to see what socialism looks like, go to inner-city Baltimore, Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, and you will see it with your own eyes. Our inner city African-American brothers and sisters are in an almost impossible situation created by politicians who care about votes and not real Americans. It’s disgusting. I am glad that Trump is calling attention to the plight of our inner-city Americans. It’s about time someone will call out those individuals who care more about power in their own constituents

Good to see the legend Michael Savage and moi are on the same page. We come from such different backgrounds.
“Where has all the Federal and State highway funding gone? The streets are worse than some African nations! Even the roadway going on to the iconic Golden gate bridge is a disgrace! The streets are littered, bums rule the sidewalks. Junkies shoot up in front of children. People are afraid to go out at night. Assaults by bums are swept under the radar by the non-newspaper. Over 30,000 cars are broken into each year! Police do nothing because the psycho-lib ‘judges’ dismiss those few cases that are prosecuted. Need I mention the well-known epidemic of human feces on the sidewalks? Have you ever eaten dinner and seen a filthy human being drop his pants and crap outside the restaurant as you are attempting to eat? Where are Pelosi, Feinstein and the other oh-so compassionate rulers?”
30,000 cars broken into each year in Skin Popper City. Most of those are smashed windows so the bums can rifle through the cars looking for anything to steal. 30,000 a year and the cops don’t bother to even roll out. Make a report over the phone or e-mail it in. Why bother? Good thing the millennials are tech savvy and have their poop app to know where to step. The old saying “when walking through a mine field, it is highly recommended to follow in the exact footsteps of those who made it through” applies. Unless, of course, you have your face buried in the I-phone looking at the poop app and inadvertently step right into something squishy.
Was it Roberta who told me I mustn’t read Michael Savage? I get them confused.
There has been so many pocket rocket sock puppets that have come over here to burn my books and tell be what I can and cannot read that I don’t rightly recall if it was Roberta or some other member of the Leftinista Police State. I do not believe they meant well.
I do like the nickname Savage gave Adam Shiffylips (D-CA). Calls him “The Inchworm.” And calling the FUE’s former employer before his last former employer as the city’s non-newspaper is right on the money. Like Porky’s non-blog in my neck of the woods.

SteveF 844am – You did indeed kill Prop 23 (and others) and added that to the pile of hurt the Left has put on CA over the years. And now with your insane super-majority one-party state (guaranteed by the state’s growing population of gimmes), none will deny your ability to continue the rapacious extraction of tribute from CA’s wage earners. But what I defy you to demonstrate is that anything you leftists have done or promise to do will result in ANY measurable “mitigation” of “the impacts of climate change”. And what you will avoid at all cost is the application of any science or engineering to define a causal chain and a metric to assess the resulting ‘benefits’ of your continuing power grab and money pissing exercises. But I can guarantee that during all this the sidewalk turd count in the state’s Dem-controlled cities will go up, and our kids will graduate dumber from union dominated public schools.
Re PaulE 947am – this comment reflects the Left’s understanding of the structure and dynamics of municipal governance. For problems that took decades to bake into our metropolises under Dem city governments, these worthies now think that a president at the federal level can assuage such ongoing social disasters in two years, while they are still writhing under dysfunctional leftwing governments and a party that opposes the current president in every way imaginable. What also continues to astound about their depth(!) of understanding is that none of the Dems in the governance chain of shithole cities has lifted a finger to identify and fix the cultural fundamentals without which pouring in endless buckets of money is useless (save for guaranteeing the re-election of the political leeches). It took President Trump, through his direct albeit clumsy communications, to finally point the finger at the crooks who are the benefactors of it all – the more misery, the better.
RockH 1032am – This leftwinger is completely off the wall. No one here pretends that the Right is in charge of anything other than continuing to maintain the country’s wealth generating capacity the best they can.

What will the socialist dems do about the chi coms election interference, thwart it or cheer it on and parrot the propaganda? –
China has been protesting western powers trying to interfere in the domestic politics of China but in fact China is not only trying interfere in the domestic politics of the United States, they are interfering publicly with U.S. elections,” Guo told the Washington Free Beacon.
According to Guo, who has known current Chinese President Xi Jinping for more than 10 years, the anti-Trump influence operation is being directed by Xi and Wang through the Communist Party of China (CCP) National Security Commission, a high-level body created in 2013 that since then has tightened control over all other security organs.
“For the 2020 U.S. presidential election, the security committee has given very clear instructions that it is not permissible for Trump to win the 2020 election,” Guo said speaking through an interpreter.
By deploying its intelligence and influence resources in the United States, the CCP is working to exploit the harsh political divisions between Democrats and Republicans in seeking to unseat the Trump administration.
“President Trump has already caused a lot of damage to the CCP, so they have declared he will not be allowed to have another four years in power,” the dissident said.
Chinese interference into American politics was first disclosed by Trump in September and a month later in a speech by Vice President Mike Pence.

You need to clarify how long shithole cities have been controlled by Democrats. Baltimore has had a Democrat Mayor at the helm since 1967. When a shithole city has been controlled by Democrats for two generations, it’s kinda hard not to be fair minded about where the problem lies. Sure, you might find a shot hole city that had a one term R Mayor in the last 25 years. Detroit goes way back Chicago the same. And not just the mayor, but the city councils as well, as many city councils are more Commie-Lite than the mayors.
Despite all the attention focused on Baltimore over the last 3 days, not one city crew or garbage truck has been dispatched to the places recently highlighted in videos as of this morning. How hard is it to pick up the phone? I reckon the storm will blow over and only the carnage of the past will remain the same. In other words, back to normal.
Interesting to see that Baltimore’s poverty level at 24% is twice the national average, but the good news is Baltimore is below Mayor Pete’s South Bend, which sits at 25%, lol.

What happening with the DCCC? Chaos! Turmoil! Tension! Upheaval!
“The top echelon of staffers at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee left their jobs Monday, a shakeup following a pair of POLITICO stories detailing deep unease with the party’s campaign apparatus over a lack of diversity.
“A staff turnover of this magnitude seven months into the Democrats’ majority is jarring, and will present Bustos with a set of new challenges. She will be forced to rebuild the committee’s top leadership from scratch in the middle of a presidential campaign that has much of the party’s best talent tied up.”
The staff shakeup follows a tumultuous weekend for Bustos and her senior team, in which they struggled to respond to demands from Democratic lawmakers and committee aides that actions immediately be taken to address the diversity issues.
“Jaslow convened an emergency all-staff meeting Friday that was described as “very emotional” by a committee aide present. Jaslow cried as she took responsibility for not doing enough to diversify the upper ranks as some staffers complained that neither she or her deputies were people of color.

Interesting you mentioned burn it down. The neglected and forgotten American citizens in the shithole blackeye parts of Baltimore say they think the city is simply waiting for everyone to leave. Could be. Property values are so low that maybe the liberals in charge are waiting for the last person to leave so they can bulldoze the whole place. The City and Elijah definitely appear to act like that is their plan.
With the billions dumped into the city by Trump’s HUD so far, this is reminding me more and more of the billions of HUD dollars siphoned away (stolen) by corrupt politicians and dollars repurposed to pay civil servants in Puerto Rico. Got to grease the skids. More government programs is the answer.
The Police Union Rep just said that there are not enough police officers in Baltimore to even respond to all the 911 calls. Just like Detroit, where you can buy a house for $500 and pay 10k/year in property taxes. Burn it down! Strike that. That would put too much carbon in the air. Bulldoze it down!
Mr. Cummings, tear down those walls.

Kinda of odd that Baltimore was a nothingburger in the news for years until Trump’s tweets. A yawner, nothing to see here until one little man and his Twitter machine shook the place to its foundations. The forgotten person “will be forgotten no more.” A promise kept.
One little man with a little handheld pocket devise against the Greatest Army of Resistance ever assembled on the face of the Earth. Like the little shepherd boy with nothing but a small stone and a slingshot against the biggest most fiercest warrior, the giant Goliath. Goliath’s bellowing voice made armies tremble. Just took one boy and a slingshot to take him down. One little man and a twitter pocket device is all it takes. Amazing.
What is more amazing is Trump got the entire Democrat Party to rally around and embrace the anti-Semitic Jew Hating America Hating ‘Squad’. What is even more amazing is that Trump got the whole Democrat Party to now defend rats.

Democrats must defend each other’ on Baltimore because they’re destroying America’s cities
“The fact of the matter is the Democrats must defend each other in their handling of these various metropolitan areas, because these various metropolitan areas have been in control of the Democrat Party for half a century or more,” Levin explained. “In the case of Baltimore, since the 1940s.”
“And they are unraveling, the civil societies are collapsing,” Levin continued of Democrat-run major cities. “They attack their own police forces. They appoint liberal activist judges. They keep raising taxes. They keep pushing out individuals who pay taxes. And so you have the decline — severe decline — of living standards in these communities. Not because of race, not because of the federal government, not because of rich people: Because of the Democrat Party and those who run these cities.”
Levin went on to point out that “Baltimore’s not alone” and mentioned the problems of Democrat-run cities Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. “Who runs these cities? Republicans don’t run these cities. Democrats run these cities.”
“And so it is,” the host concluded. “The president of the United States talks about a rat-infested city like Baltimore, that it’s disgusting what’s happening in these cities, we know exactly what he meant. The nation knows exactly what he means; in fact, the Democrats know exactly what he means.”
Hmm. Sounds like the Rat Shitholes are crawling with Democrats. Change my mind. What is getting lost in the conversation is the mention of roaches. We need to be more inclusive.

Bottomline: lower them expectations, there are fundamental reasons why things won’t change much. Personally, I think this is all about Cummings going after his daughter’s personal e-mails after the transition. “We don’t need probable cause” is something Elijah wishes he could take back. And the yelling at the ICE guy. Anyway, Fair & Balanced.
“What does Baltimore tell us about Democratic governance? President Trump thinks he knows. (Kind of weird to hear a New Yorker complaining about the rats in some other city, though.) But we might also ask: What does Owsley County tell us about Republican governance?
“This is not an entirely unfair question in either case, but you have to be particular about it.
“Increasingly southern and rural Republicans are good at sneering at Baltimore. The tony Democrats in San Francisco are damned well-practiced at sneering at the rural south. As for doing something about the problems in those communities — moderate your expectations. Donald Trump is a famous son of New York City who has offered himself as tribune for the struggling communities of the heartland, and Nancy Pelosi is a celebrated daughter of Baltimore, where her father once was mayor. And if the two of them decided to really take on the most fundamental problems of any of those communities and put their heads together, it would sound like a minor mishap in a coconut-processing plant.
“And the poor — in the cities or in Appalachia? What about them? Oh, dear: There are funds to raise and tweets to tweet and elections to be won and cheap allegations of racism to be bandied about. Maybe we’ll get to them next time around.”

White Privileged. 3 strikes against you and you are still not up even up to the plate. Heck, they used to shoot the Chinese workers on payday up in your neck of the woods. Some old habits are hard to break, eh mate?
Not very progressive and definitely not up with the times in post #Me Too 2019. Come on, man…Look at the friggin calendar. Hello. Anybody home?
How long to do think your place of work can get away with it? Gotta boot a couple out (sob) and make room for the feelings over substance stuff….or, add a couple more to payroll. Can you afford it? Can you afford not doing it? Jacobins are coming. :). They are never satisfied. They, like your area’s forefathers, literally eat their own…and a couple Truckee Indians. Yummie in the tummy, nothing personal. Hire a Truckee Indian, Bro.

“. . . your insane super-majority one-party state . . . none will deny your ability to continue the rapacious extraction of tribute from CA’s wage earners.”
Are you somehow implying that California’s wage earners are right wingers getting sucked dry by left wingers? Just got back from Jig’s lakefront house at Tahoe. It would be a solid bet that he has produced more revenue for the state of California that any three people on this blog. Right winger he is most certainly not.

Bookends? Have no idea what that means.
Frisch has made himself an easy target for ridicule. He is a total hypocrite as Gregory has pointed out. What is so funny to me is he thinks he is not an old white fart metrosexual. All his postings, especially on anything about sex, are suspect for gender preference. He really is a hoot!

If they are attacking him and his policies like Elijah has, Trump should expose those failed politicians. Thanks for the idea Paul Emery, I’ll pass it on up the chain.
