[The Secure Act going through Congress will do a significant modification of how you can and must dispose your retirement accounts, and it will also open the door for the gummint to come in and tax a portion of it.  And we know what will happen to the size of that 'portion' as time passes.  All in favor, say Aye.  gjr]

Senate veto Don. You’re so smart.
Now how come someone as smart as you can support a President who tells teenagers that “ I have an Article 2, where I have the right to do whatever I want as president,”

The tariff alarmists were shown to be wrong with chi com devaluation and absorbstion there has been no rise in prices to US shoppers. Then with the money collected they solidify the base. WIN WIN!
The USDA has redesigned last year’s aid program based on feedback. The new package will have a single payment rate per county, calculated by the damages in that area, instead of a rate for every commodity across the nation.
Perdue said the minimal payment would be $15 an acre. “We’re anticipating right now three tranches; probably 50 percent … or minimum there of $15 an acre initially,” he said, adding the second and third tranches would be dependant on market conditions.
Craig Ratajczyk, chief executive of the Illinois Soybean Association, said the $15-per-acre minimum would make agricultural lenders more comfortable.

Are you saying that the President does not have to follow the directions of each chamber of Congress if they override a Presidential veto? Do you agree with Trump when he says ““ I have an Article 2, where I have the right to do whatever I want as president,”

PaulE 825am – You all should include in this thread the clear precedent most recently reset by Obama when his favored legislation was vetoed or ignored by Congress – “I have a phone and a pen …”. A president, as the executor of laws, has the final say on how the departments of the Executive Branch implement any given law passed by Congress, or bypassed through the issuance of bureaucratic regulations. Given, this is a mischievous way of doing the people’s business, but that is what our Constitution allows when it comes to a pissing match between two co-equal branches of government, both claiming their elections represent the will of the people as they individually interpret that will.

What about the Supreme Court……that’s hardly fair……that they don’t get one I mean!
    Why is that?
I think we need Oprah Winfreys input on this Punch……”You get a veto!”, ……”You get a veto!”, ……”You get a veto!”

Daily Quotes (minus the Carnival Barkers on Capitol Hill)
Observations: “Congress’s budget process under both parties is broken. It makes no tradeoffs, lies to the public, and enforces no accountability.” —The Wall Street Journal
For the record: “Securing the border is the first principle that we all have when we talk about the immigration issue. While we need to address the issue of immigration and the challenge we have of undocumented people in our country, we certainly don’t want any more coming in.” —Nancy Pelosi, 2008
Friendly fire: “For any presidential candidate to raise their hand and say that they want to be for eliminating private health insurance, that is a losing message in 2020, and I would encourage them to rethink their positions.” —Democrat Rep. Anthony Brindisi
Friendly fire II: “If the Democrats don’t silence the Squad, the shrieking socialist snowflake sisters will send Trump back to the White House for another four years.” —Piers Morgan
**Friendly fire III: “Kamala Harris is not qualified to serve as commander-in-chief, and I can say this from a personal perspective as a soldier. She’s got no background or experience in foreign policy, and she lacks the temperament that is necessary for a commander-in-chief.” —Rep. and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard
Non Compos Mentis: “No one should fear receiving medical care because they are undocumented. We must ensure that all people in our country have access to reproductive health care.” —Rep. Ilhan Omar
Spread the wealth! “That’s what we do with our public dollars. We give it back to the people — the people that earned it.” —Rep. Rashida Tlaib
[What the hay, Thelma??? We give it to people who have NOT earned it….sez Bill]
Alpha Jackass: “Yes, President Trump is a racist. It’s not that hard to use a link George if you are referring to a specific instance.
Do you mean like Trump saying he’ll find another way to ask the census question the Supreme Court tossed or a work around to “build the wall” that he bragged was in progress. Of course that was a lie as is his promise that Mexico would pay for it or that he’d have a health care plan in a month and on and on and on……

Weissmann and the Oligarch. John Solomon, 2 weeks ago.
“Weissmann quietly reached out to the American lawyers for Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash with a tempting offer: Give us some dirt on Donald Trump in the Russia case, and Team Mueller might make his 2014 U.S. criminal charges go away.”
At the time, pressure was building inside the DOJ and the FBI to find smoking-gun evidence against Trump in the Russia case because the Steele dossier — upon which the early surveillance warrants were based — was turning out to be an uncorroborated mess. (“There’s no big there there,” lead FBI agent Pete Strzok texted a few days before Weissmann’s overture.)
“Likewise, key evidence that the DOJ used to indict Firtash on corruption charges in 2014 was falling apart. Two central witnesses were in the process of recanting testimony, and a document the FBI portrayed as bribery evidence inside Firtash’s company was exposed as a hypothetical slide from an American consultant’s PowerPoint presentation, according to court records I reviewed.
“In other words, the DOJ faced potential embarrassment in two high-profile cases when Weissmann made an unsolicited approach on June 4, 2017, that surprised even Firtash’s U.S. legal team.”

Too much truth is getting out –
“So when the Democrats began holding hearings and Heartland Institute scholars began showing up and an actual debate began to unfold, our friends on the left seemed to have lost a lot of their interest in those hearings,” McClintock said, adding that he sees that as a positive development.
“They gave us a critical opportunity to engage them on the actual science behind their apocalyptic predictions and they didn’t like where it leads,” McClintock said.
McClintock said despite the humor to be found in the “hysteria” on the left, it calls for serious pushback
This would be amusing except that it continues to drive public policy despite the failure of every one of their predictions and forecasts to coincide with the actual data we’ve accumulated since this nonsense began. We’ve allowed ourselves once again to be thrown into panic from forces that have been at work shaping our planet since it formed.
McClintock said climate change fear-mongering dates back to the 1970s when both Newsweek and the Washington Post reported on the dangers of an impending new Ice Age.
And that even today the left is ignoring the science that contradicts their apocalyptic predictions.

Here is a little good night snack, the elbows in the socialist clown car are getting sharp and the knives are out –
The New Yorker’s lengthy profile of Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) spends far more time discussing the influence of Willie Brown than her relationship with her husband, which is portrayed as impersonal and even politically motivated.
The profile, by Dana Goodyear, tells a positive story of Harris professionally—highlighting her well-received prosecutorial style as a senator and her rise in the polls after her use of it on the debate stage. But it’s far more focused on the things Harris hates to talk about, like her relationship with Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco, and how it shaped her as a politician.
Goodyear, after noting how “stories that mention Brown have always infuriated Harris,” goes on to mention Brown about two dozen times. She attempted, unsuccessfully, to both interview Brown and get a comment on him from Harris’s campaign.
“When I asked her campaign about him, a spokesperson testily referred me to statements that she made sixteen years ago,” Goodyear writes.
