BillT 122pm – In addition to your remarks on worker owned businesses, this socio-economic structure was debated thoroughly on RR a few years back when it was introduced by reader and commenter PaulE. The concept had specific name such as ‘xx economics’ and a internationally published champion who enjoyed a brief interval of fame. I wish I could recall that label in order to provide a definite link to that discussion. Bottom line is as you again point our, the reasons worker-owned companies don’t work are legion. And they all revolve around one of the seminal errors of collectivism – its only hope of working is when everyone practices altruism, else the Tragedy of the Commons takes over.
This commentary may contribute to the discussion, but it doesn’t identify the referenced mystery economics.

This is what will lose the election for Trump-full repeal of Obamacare with no replacement in place-Whoops I forgot, he’s announcing a plan tomorrow.
“Republicans have no real plan to establish a new health care system if the courts strike down the Affordable Care Act before the 2020 election. But plenty of them are rooting for its demise anyway — even if it means plunging the GOP into a debate that splits the party and leaves them politically vulnerable.
After a decade of trying to gut Obamacare, Republicans may finally get their wish thanks to a Trump administration-backed lawsuit. Its success would cause chaos not only in the insurance markets but on Capitol Hill. And Republican senators largely welcome it — even if they don’t know what comes next.”

Here’s a quote from Fox News’s Bret Hume on Trumps recent screed:
“Trump’s ‘go back’ comments were nativist, xenophobic, counterfactul and politically stupid,”
    Here’s more:
Washington (CNN)Texas Republican Rep. Will Hurd said Monday that President Donald Trump’s tweets attacking progressive Democratic congresswomen were “racist and xenophobic,” making him one of the few elected Republicans to speak out against Trump’s remarks.
He told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour the President’s tweets reflect “behavior that’s unbecoming of the leader of the free world.” He said Trump should be “talking about things that unite us, not divides us.”
“I think those tweets are racist and xenophobic. They’re also inaccurate,” he said.
“Look, I’m the only black Republican in the House of Representatives. I go into communities that most Republicans don’t show up in order to take a conservative message,” he also said, adding, “This makes it harder in order to take our ideas, and our platform, to communities that don’t necessarily identify with the Republican Party.”
Hurd said it is “concerning to me that there are people that think that’s OK, that kind of behavior’s OK” when asked if he was surprised why so many Republicans have not spoken out about Trump’s tweets.
Asked why the President “keeps doing this kind of stuff” and if he thinks Trump is racist, Hurd said, “Well, you’d have to ask him those questions. But the comments were indeed racist.”

Jig 128pm – You are now giving a good impersonation of an idiot. It’s clear that most, if not all, of the discussion here is not accessible to you. For those similarly afflicted, my assertion that ‘no special definitions are required here’ made the point that the usual definitions of ‘collectivist’ and ‘communist’ suffice.
For all others, it’s interesting to again note that the Left does not want to define anything, but only use terms that have their own hubristic meanings in ad hoc settings – ‘it meant what I now say it meant’. That policy prevents anyone from holding them to account as to who said what. The RR glossary is here to avoid that kind of obfuscation. Light thinkers don’t understand that when a writer offers a glossary, he does it to clarify his commentary and not necessarily impose his semantics on the reader.
And yes, I come from a specific culture in our society that has always had to maintain a glossary, as in our work we have invented/discovered/developed new things not yet familiar to the mind of Man. Without that communication becomes the cacophony that the Left continues to demonstrate today in the public media with their Alice in Wonderland language.

Are you referring to the book I cited by Riane Eisler, The Real Wealth of Nations? I can loan it to you if you like.
“In The Real Wealth of Nations, pioneering social scientist, Riane Eisler powerfully shows that the great problems of our time – from poverty and inequality to environmental degradation, war, and terrorism – are due largely to flawed economic systems that set the wrong priorities, mis-allocate resources, and fail to value the most important human work.
“This brilliant book shows how we can build economic systems that meet both our material and spiritual needs.”

@2:05 pm. This does not address your query to Punchy, but….
I remember during the big push for Buy Local was going on and someone (the wacky N.C. mayor?) pushed for the barter system and non-money money. Of course the person who addressed the council and prompted the no-cash and in-kind credits for Nevada City wanted a big fat fee for his services…in real money, roflmao. Nothing wrong with kicking around ideas. Heck, even the Lincoln cabinet kicked around the idea of sending the slaves back to Africa after the Emancipation Proclamation. Just kicking ideas around. No harm in that. I think of it as guys in a dorm sucking on bongs and coming up with new ways to reinvent the wheel.
I did my personal research after the Buy Local guy came to town and addressed the locals. His examples where Boulder, Colorado and Grey Harbor(?) Washington. Both his examples where college towns. The demographics of those places where nothing like Nevada County. The mean and average age of those those place were way lower, the non-married and without children were way higher. The amount of bicycle riders were much higher, to put it kindly. Besides the universities, both had large private employers in town (besides government), which made the population closer to their jobs.
Last summer when I saw two of my nieces (one works at Cornell, the other for VIT) neither owned a car. They took public transit everywhere or rode their bikes. They fit the profile of the Buy Local demographics of Boulder or W. Washington perfectly. Young, unmarried, childless, and they buy everything Local, lol. Just saying. Ok, perhaps they buy stuff on-line.
Bottom lines: one size does not fit all….unless you work for the employer of last resort and issue mandates from on high to the unwashed masses. When reading the GND, my first knee jerk reaction was “this is written by people who live in East Coast cities…or like my nieces.” Just take the train, lol. Cows? Where do they come from and why do we need them? Guaranteed government jobs for everybody…good paying jobs and nice affordable homes. No more living in old miners cabins with walls so thin you can throw a cat through them. And good floors. No more dirty floors for anybody!
Guess that eliminates the need for volunteers to pick up cigarette butts at the river. Just take the train to get there. :). And Buy Local. And do away with money.
Nothing wrong with kicking around ideas.
In conclusion, here are a couple of my great brainstorming ideas:
    1) As we erase from our society any and all reminders of our sinful past of racism, White Superiority, and slavery, would it not also mean that we, piece by piece, erase our history of slavery as well….thus slavery did not exist? Hmmm? Gone with the wind. Like it never happened. Think about that.
2). Climate Change. If these weather events that happen every year and month somewhere are caused by Climate Change and since weather is normally thought of as daily events (say, like the nice weather today) and since hundreds of days, nay thousands of daily weather that are put together in a row is considered Climate Change….does it not stand to reason that stopping Climate Change means that they are promising to change my daily weather?

” he does it to clarify his commentary and not necessarily impose his semantics on the reader.”
that may be true George 2:01, but the interpretation of a message lies with the receiver not the sender. So regardless of what the intended meaning was, people will insert their own connotative meaning into the mix. Political pundits and PR people use this extensively knowing that their audience will react to certain words in a certain way no matter what.

RobertC 252pm – That indeed is true, and that is why I stated many years ago that my aim was not to change the minds of those who don’t even understand my worldview, logic, history, … (i.e. my ontology). And I do not write for simple minds, life is too short. If my words have any draw, then do a little work and understand how I use them (there I help you by meticulous definitions, my glossary, and my credo). And if they don’t, then have a good day. I have little profit in pursuing people who live in other universes.
BTW, here’s something from the past that may bear on the matter.

    More fakenews undone –
After Democrat lawmakers and commentators spent months hammering the Trump administration for supposedly delaying the release of a $20 bill featuring abolitionist Harriet Tubman, several officials appointed by President Barack Obama have reportedly admitted that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has followed the Obama timeline for producing the new currency.
The Obama administration said 2016 that it wanted to remove Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill and replace him with Tubman, who helped free slaves through the Underground Railroad, and that the bills would be ready in 2020. But a current “high-ranking government official” appointed by Obama, as well as a former official, confirmed to The Washington Post that the Tubman bill had “had “always been scheduled for release toward the end of the next decade.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s support in the latest Hill-HarrisX poll of Democratic voters has fallen below 30 percent, his lowest mark in the survey so far.
The poll, released on Monday, found that 29 percent of likely Democratic primary voters support Biden as their first choice for president, while 16 percent back Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
This marks a 4-point drop for Biden from an identical poll conducted two weeks ago and immediately following the first 2020 Democratic debates. It also represents a 17-point drop from when same
poll was first conducted in May, a month after Biden formally launched his campaign bid.

The swamp creatures counter attack –
A high-ranking Guatemalan government official told Breitbart News that the U.S. Department of State in that country is working with leftist organizations to allow President Donald Trump’s proposed “safe country” asylum agreement to die. President Trump is seeking agreements with Mexico and Central American countries to help slow the surge of migrants attempting to exploit loopholes in the U.S. asylum system.
A high-ranking Guatemalan government official spoke with Breitbart News under the condition of anonymity about the plans being negotiated between Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and U.S. President Donald Trump to house so-called asylum seekers who have illegally crossed the U.S. border from Mexico. The proposed agreement would allow asylum seekers from any country to be sent to Guatemala for asylum. The proposal and a meeting scheduled for Monday between the two presidents has been postponed, Breitbart News reported.
“We hope the meeting will happen,” the Guatemalan official told Breitbart News in a phone interview, “but it won’t happen now.” A constitutional court in Guatemala placed an injunction against President Morales’ government from entering into the agreement, Sara Carter reported. “The court has acted against the constitution,” the Guatemalan official continued. He explained the Guatemalan courts are packed with leftist activists.
The official also blamed the U.S. State Department in Guatemala for “not doing anything to salvage the agreement.” He said State Department officials will frequently push to get agreements approved but have not done so in this case.

DonB 438pm – I was kinda taken aback by PaulE’s intentional misquote when watching the news tonight and seeing the entirety of Hume’s commentary. Senile flashbacks? –
“If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.”
That familiar pledge, made repeatedly over several years by former President Barack Obama, was named the 2013 “Lie of the Year” by fact-checking website Politifact, as millions of individuals lost their private insurance — and had to switch to costlier options — due to changes mandated by the Affordable Care Act.
On Monday, Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden unveiled his own health care plan, and issued a similar-sounding promise while speaking at a presidential forum sponsored by AARP in Des Moines, Iowa.
“I give people the option,” Biden said, after dismissing his opponents’ “Medicare-for-all” proposals, which would eliminate private health insurance entirely. “If you like your health care plan, your employer-based plan, you can keep it.”

Aha! I found the ultimate example of self pity: I wasn’t asked to be born. Where is the complaint department?? Do they ever stop belly aching? No fun to be around, fa sure.
“He finds it “so sad” that his children are apparently happy to follow our culture’s social expressions of the biological reality of the male/female divide. Yet these “silly gender norms” are expressions of the reality of our embodiment as sexually dimorphic primates. His children are not being imprisoned by an abstraction, but developing as the embodied, social beings that we humans are.
“His problem is with the universe. He is saddened, not by any suffering of his children, but by their voluntary, natural absorption of cultural norms. It is he who wants to limit them to satisfy an abstraction. He may be imprisoned by the abstractions of ideology, but they are at home in the world…..
“His perspective was parodied by one of my favorite lines from the philosopher Soren Kierkegaard: “Who am I? How did I come into the world; why was I not asked…Am I not free to decide? Am I to be forced to be part of it? Where is the manager, I would like to make a complaint!” We necessarily are thrown into existence without our consent, and into circumstances we do not choose.”
“Instead of viewing our being as a gift, Manjoo sees it as a prison sentence. It would be easy to dismiss him as one more silly ideologue whose campaign to control language will likely flounder in the face of human reality. But he represents what has become the dominant ideology of our culture, and it is inflicting real harms, especially on women. For example, female athletes are being supplanted by males who identify as women, and lesbians are being harassed and shamed for not wanting to have sex with lesbian transwomen (i.e., men).”

Speaking of Palestinians, were they defendants of European colonialists as well?
“Science has made a huge leap forward in dispelling the mystery that surrounds the Philistines, the biblical archenemies of the Israelites who suddenly appeared on the coasts of the Levant more than 3,000 years ago.
The origins of this ancient population have eluded scholars for centuries. Now, an analysis of DNA extracted from skeletons unearthed at Ashkelon, on Israel’s southern coast, confirms the theory that the earliest Philistines had at least some European ancestry, most likely from the south of the continent. This supports the long-held theory by some scholars, based on clues from ancient texts and similarities in archaeological finds from the two regions, that the Philistines hailed from the Aegean.
“This is pretty critical evidence that we are on the right track in understanding the Philistines as a people who came out of the Aegean and reached places like Ashkelon as immigrants,” says Daniel Master, a professor of archaeology at Wheaton College and co-director of the dig at Ashkelon.”…
“The Philistines used to be understood as a monolithic culture that invaded from somewhere the coastal plain and took over,” says Maeir. “Today many people argue that when you look at the early Philistines you don’t see a single culture but what we call an ‘entangled’ culture, one formed by contributions from many peoples, with influences from Cyprus, Anatolia, Greece and other places that are all mixed in with local elements to form this Mediterranean salad: and this is what we see in the material culture and in the ancient DNA.”
“The relatively rapid pace at which the Philistine genome – and culture – went native also tells us something about those early European settlers who started it all. Archaeologically, it has been difficult to determine whether their takeover of Ashkelon and other sites on the coastal plain was a violent or peaceful affair – it may have varied from place to place..

    Xenophobia
Well, it is a refreshing change to throw around the word xenophobia. As a youngin’ in our public education system (non-union), we had to learn a big word everyday for a month and tested it on at the end of the year… starting with A and going to Z. Think it was in the 4th grade. Xenophobia was the word of the day for the letter X. Fear of the unknown, fear of the foreign. Now days it probably means fear of the foreign(er).
Go job, media to come up with a new word or beat into the ground with. Heck, they have been tossing around the word racist at ALL of us righties everyday for years until the word has lost its meaning. I guess the chose the word “xenophobia” is preferred after AOC called Speaker Peloski the Botox Queen a racist on Friday. Or was that Thursday? Things can change on a dime.
Xenophobia has been around for centuries. I am heartened that AG Barr today has decided to crack down on it. I have a sneaky feeling that the Squad of 4 Squid will call Barr a racist (how wonderfully overused), especially by Ilhan Omar and that other Jew hater Tliab and that other Jew Hater who nobody can remember her name.
    ———
Words of the day are pluralistic (as in pluralistic society) and metastasize. Two words to memorize.
“A healthy body with a strong immune system can have success in preventing cancer from emerging or spreading, but if the immune system weakens, cancer can emerge,” Barr told the crowd while speaking at the Department of Justice’s summit on anti-Semitism. “Some might be localized, but others can rapidly metastasize and become systemic. Just like the physical body, a body politic must have an immune system that resists anti-Semitism and other forms of racial hatred.”
“What is the state of our immune system within American society?” he continued. “In a pluralistic society like ours, I think the ability to resist hate comes from cultivating a civil society that on the one hand nurtures the freedom of each group to pursue their faith and distinctive way of life, while at the same time fostering the ties that bind us together into a genuine broader community.”
“The Justice Department revealed in early July that it will be hosting the summit, bringing together Trump administration officials and Jewish leaders to discuss combating anti-Semitism on colleges campuses and throughout America, reported the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
“Referring to hatred against the Jewish people as “the most ancient and stubborn form of racism throughout western history,” Barr stated that combating anti-Semitism is a “critical priority” of his department.
“The causes have been varied; at times it has been driven by religious intolerance, cultural differences, economic envy and ideological dogma,” Barr said. “Sometimes those disappointed with their own rotten life seize on conspiracy theories to blame the Jewish people for their own discontent, and some times political factions competing for power find in the Jewish people a convenient scapegoat to unify and inflame their political base.”

Hmmm. “and some times political factions competing for power find in the Jewish people a convenient scapegoat to unify and inflame their political base.”

BT 8:22 – Love that fellow, er guy, ah – person, whatever – Manjoo.
“Farhad Manjoo argues that “language should not default to the gender binary.” Specifically, he wants to eliminate gendered pronouns such as he and she.”
Kinda F’s up a lot of ‘progressive’ laws, don’t it?
Not that progressives have the ability to see that they are their own worst enemies.
The fact is that ‘language’ does not default to anything. It is in society’s use of language that there are certain formalities and customs. Perhaps Manjoo could explain why approximately half the babies born have one certain set of genetic traits and one half another. Lets start with anthropology – that’ll be fun!
Can’t say any more what the hell the skeleton is – might have identified as a woolly mammouth or maybe a fruit fly or maybe a T Rex undergoing a change in lifestyle.
Once you start off down the road to crazy-ville, don’t be surprised if some one you hate demands that you obey their rules. You did ask for it!
