    Scotto. 11:56–‘worker owned cooperatives’ means that the company stock is owned by the people who actually work at a facility, whether they’re the janitor or the CEO, they all have equity and one vote. Many companies already have stock sharing plans. This is no different except it cuts out investors, holding companies, hedge funds, and other stockholders who are not part of the day to day operations an are just in it for the money. These are the people largely responsible for such innovative money making schemes as downsizing, off-shoring, hostile takeovers, cannabalizing, and other actions that have resulted in most of the loss of American jobs. You ever notice that every time a company announces layoffs their stock goes up? Why? Because cost cuts means greater profits for investors and fuck the working folks who lost their jobs because of it.

    As Walt pointed out yesterday (and Scott the night before that), nothing is stopping any company or start up from going worker owned. As you have previously pointed out, there are many companies that have done exactly what which you advocate. So, I fail to see what your point is. Sure, Macy’s once went private and had to pay off the investors. The reason I know that is a friend who had stock in Macy’s received a check when they went private. So, there you go. Go for it.
    I suppose Briar Patch is worker owned. I looked at rather large company that claimed to be worker owned, but in actuality if was union owned and union controlled.lol. Close enough.
    Any worker owned company is still under existing labor law with the same insurance liabilities. Most need to raise capital from outside sources. But, I still don’t see why you are still talking about it. Like forming 3rd Parties, go for it. Unless, you demand we agree with your unspecified plan. Then, that is an unreasonable request.
    The old joke is what happens to a worker owned factory when the building is leased?
    A minor (yet important) side bar issue of CA requiring a certain percentage of women aon the Board of Directors of CA companies is that it may be unconstitutional. Since the law and penalties have yet to be enforced, the issue is yet to be determined. The other joke is having half the old men on the Board identify as women. :). Who would ever dare challenger gender fluidity? That would be blasphemy to the SJW’s.
    I suppose employee owned….er….worker owned factories, businesses, and service providers have to make a profit to meet payroll….just like every other business, save the government. In the old USSR, everybody had a job and no one got the ax. My favorite story (bored the readers here with it before) was the directive from the Soviet Committees concerning manufacturing underwear. The Soviet factories made an equal amount of men’s underwear as women’s underwear. Unfortunately, women buy 5x the amount of underwear as men, thus having warehouses of unsold men’s underwear filled to the rafters and chronic storages of women’s underwear. An unintended consequence of full employment. :). Yes, the Soviet plans are not what you are taking about, but before we jump head first into worker owned companies (excluding sole proprietors, of course), we best look at those unintended consequences….like what to do with slackers and bonuses for the high producers? Unfair.
    Lead on Robert. Gather a couple hundred people that agree with your plan and swamp us with testimonials. I have faith in you.
