[Now that President Trump has revealed that he does incorporate reasoned decision processes and make prudent decisions about engaging US forces in response to abundant provocations by murderous dictatorships, I wonder if the Dems will allow their minions to hear any of this on the media. One can niggle about whether he should have revealed how the latest all came about. gjr]

Paul, are you saying that Iran can sink ships and blow aircraft out of the sky, and a sitting President, lawfully elected, can’t do a damn thing about it until the Congress passes a declaration of War that enables the President to bomb them all into the stone age?
(see what I did there?)

Then Gregory should we have a Constitutional Amendment to make it “up to date”??

What does that have to do with my 8:54?
“Would it be constitutional…..probably not. Not smart either as we are really over extended militarily. I wouldn’t worry…..I don’t think the president is going to pursue this course of action”.
“Do you believe this should apply to Trump in when he claims he doesn’t need Congressional approval to invade Iran?”
I don’t recall anything being said about invading Iran (I could be wrong but I heard “go to war” a couple of times but nothing about “invade”)
I appreciate that you are so desperate to indict Trump that you barely read the answers to the questions you ask!

Here’s Rand Paul’s view on the matter.
“Republican Sen. Rand Paul told reporters last week efforts by the Trump administration to use the 2001 authorization against Iran would be “inappropriate.”
“I think every president tries to make the case that Congress can’t tell them what to do on foreign policy or war,” Paul said. “They’re wrong.”

I’m suggesting that there needs to be a Constitutional Amendment. Apparently according to you the Constitution is obsolete in this day and age. the intent of the Constitutional was to make waging war a Congressional decision not Presidential.

PaulE 721am – Every use of military force by the Executive is NOT automatically an act of war in the sense of the Constitution, it never has been. Please review our country’s history. Your gratuitous charge here reflects your established leftwing narrative, and is not a citation relevant to the limited actions in the Persian Gulf region. Please also revisit Korea (1950-53) and Vietnam (1964-73) for a little tune-up.

War vs Act of War.
“If we attack Iran that is an act of war….”. Punchy.
Ok, back to hypotheticals. The big IF. If we attack Iran. Hmmm. I seem to recall that Russia hacking Podesta’s e-mails (not proven) and meddling in our election was declared by the Dems as an Act of War. Think it was McCain that said it was equivalent to the Pearl Harbor Attack on the Senate floor. Iran doing multiple cyber attacks on us, we respond by attempts to hack them…. all acts of war. Not war, acts of war.
Technically, Iran shooting down our drone over international waters is an act of war.
Oh, the Dems would love to see us involved in another war in the Middle East going into 2020.
The Dems are praying that Trump takes the bait. Loved it when Roberta cried out that “Trump is doing this with Iran to distract from….blah, blah, blah…2020! Wag the dog!” Yeah, and he said Trump manufactured a border crisis to distract for 2018. What a literal shit for brains.
John Kerry has been busy for months doing his rouge foreign policy with the Mullahs. It seems to me that Iran is itching for a response. They are waiting for an excuse. Hope for an overreaction to play the victim for domestic and international consumption. Bullies and Leftinistas do that everytime. The Democrats are the new Neo-Cons.
Iran hit some oil tankers (not ours), check out our response. We sent 1,000:more soldiers to the region. Hit some oil tankers again, down a US drone, wait for a response. Trump’s response? He asked why we are stuck protecting the oil passing through the straits, lol.

When is bombing a soverign country not an act of war George? Are you saying Japan did not commit an act of war bombing Pearl Harbor? By the way we did not retaliate against Japan till there was a Declaration of War by Congress. It only took a day.
That’s a clumsy dodge to the question of the intent of the Constitution to have the Congress decide we should go to war and not the President. Once war is declared then the President is Commander in Chief. That’s very clear as is the statement
” the U.S. Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war. The President, meanwhile, derives the power to direct the military after a Congressional declaration of war from Article II, Section 2, which names the President Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. “

Yep, that’s the Bottomline. Punchy came up with a solution.
Punchy, get the statehouses (3/4 of them) to call for a Convention of the States. You can do it! And how are you doing with forming a third party? Go ahead, call for a Constitutional Amendment. Nobody is stopping ya. Get off your ass and do it. Do it, Punchy. That is the solution you seek. Call for Town hall meetings. Organize them. Make it happen. Lead on. It’s been awhile since we have had a Constitutional Amendment. Third longest stretch in our history without one.
Punchy, you have laid out the solution you desire. A Constitutional Amendment. You have fingered the problem and solution. Good job. Now, go get them, tiger. Nothing more to say, is there? Just do it. Like the ERA, it takes time.
Geeze, I need to remind myself that Punchy is the person who spent hours railing about the First Lady’s footwear. Hours. Hours! And the need for a viable 3rd Party, which he has yet to lift a finger to accomplish, and ……..all hat and no cattle.

Readers of these comment streams should pay particular attention to how raised points and questions receive responses from the other side of the ideological playing field. In an exchange when a commenter’s cogent and detailed point is totally ignored, that should count as a clear victory against the opposition – crickets don’t score in this game of wits. Apropos to this, I personally take great pleasure in being able to have my tete-a-tetes with the leftists end with their sound of silence. I hope you all enjoy a similar feeling of accomplishment when your considered response is met with a cricket chorus. And, of course, anyone who ends a thread with a cheap ad hominem loses.

Looks like sanctions on Iran is the way to go. Iran is acting panicky.
Iran Pressured Onto a Precipice.
“Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi bellowed in rebuttal, “Imposing useless sanctions … is the permanent closure of the path of diplomacy.” He added, “Trump’s desperate administration is destroying the established international mechanisms for maintaining world peace and security.”
“Some hardcore interventionists disagree, but the leveling of additional sanctions is a balanced countermeasure. National Review’s David French explains one critical reason why that’s the case: “A small attack on three targets is a pinprick strike. The mullahs don’t care about [150] casualties, and a small attack does not materially impair Iranian striking power. Pinprick strikes are often seen as displays of weakness, not strength. A small attack would, however, grant the pretext for yet another Iranian escalation — perhaps one that would claim American lives, thus generating a much larger American response.”
“Iran is no Libya or even Syria — its technology and military capabilities are far more sophisticated. So airstrikes should be reserved for extreme cases. Sanctions, on the other hand, are demonstrably effective. CNBC reports that the pressure placed on Iran’s oil exports from previous sanctions has pushed that nation’s economy onto a precipice. Any further reduction in this revenue source would likely result in a complete economic meltdown.”

Hey kids! Carl Cameron is starting a new, new website!!
Yep, another web site. Oh boy.
Now, he needs lots of free publicity because you know how only rich evil Rs and Trumpers have ALL the money.
So –
“This is a state of emergency. Our next elections and democracy are at potential risk. My job, what I do, is inform. That’s it. Make your own decisions.”
A ‘state of emergency’!!!!!
Our ‘democracy’ is at risk!!!
Well, ‘potentially’ at risk. (depends on how many millions I make on my new website – did I mention I have a new website?)
But of course, you can make your own decision.
Mighty fine of you, Carl – to LET us make our own decision about the ‘state of emergency’ and all.
Carl now claims that Fox news is just the most evilest bunch ever. Since he worked there for over 2 decades, he would know, huh? But of course, HE never did anything bad – only the rest of them.
Best quote – “Trump’s a con man. He did collude and coordinate with Russia to get elected. He encouraged them to intervene in the 2016 campaign on live television. We all saw it.”
But Carl thought it would be best to wait until now to let us know, because – well you know – new website and all. Been a little busy, heh heh.
I’d love to see a link to any of this BS, but who needs facts when you have killer narrative?
Carl would love to return all the money he made working for Satan for 2 decades, but he needs to get the truth out and he kinda spent all the dough Fox paid him.
He’s all yours, lefties.
But most importantly – Carl’s got a new website!

CBS News’ 60 Minutes did a report on the AR-15 rifle Sunday night and discovered that the rifle is more powerful than a handgun.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/06/25/cbs-news-scoop-ar-15-rifles-more-powerful-handguns/
“They specifically contrasted an AR-15 rifle with a 9mm handgun, and spent time talking about the different levels of penetration and tissue damage caused by a round from each.
Host Scott Pelley interviewed University of Southern California researcher Cynthia Bir who explained videoing a “9 millimeter bullet from a handgun…in slow motion.” She talked of shooting ballistic gel with the 9mm, saying, “The handgun bullet traveled about 800 miles an hour…[and] sliced nearly straight all the way through the gel.”
She then described the round fired from an AR-15 rifle, saying, “[It traveled] three times faster and struck with more than twice the force. The shockwave of the AR-15 bullet blasted a large cavity in the gel unlike the bullet from the handgun.” “

Little Piglet is full of pig snot. If he had just one assassin attempt, it would be front page news. This is the perfect example of the lying Leftinistas and old school Democrats. Perfect. They limited the number of beds ICE could be allowed to have to house the flood of illegal immigrants caught at the border in the last spending package. Now, they scream to the high heavens that the conditions at the border are intolerable for those they detain, all the while fighting any money to build better and new facilities to hold the illegals and families. They won’t even fund Trump”s request for HUMANITARIAN aide at the border, yet turn around and blame Trump for the overcrowded conditions.
Truly, they are lying sacks of shit. The immigrants are just pawns to the Leftinistas. A most heartless bunch.
“I think he should apologize for the conditions that he’s supporting on the border,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Capitol Hill. “He should apologize for his support for widespread human rights abuses — that’s what he should apologize for, and until he stops supporting the absolute dehumanizing conditions on our border, I will not apologize for holding him to account for it.”

Don. At some bar in Nevada City, Emery is crying. All that weed. Never to hit the streets.
But Gavin Nuisance is throwing a party.

So why should the socialist dems start following the law now, nothing new about this? –
Quite frankly, can you imagine any other context, such as parking tickets or speeding tickets would you see a politician say ‘What’s the point of enforcing the law? It is almost incomprehensible … What other laws should they ignore? Should we stop giving parking tickets in handicapped zones? Or blocking hydrants? Should we not enforce wage-and-hour law, or health-and-safety rules?

This move was very fishy at the time and did not go unnoticed, at the time the question was why and now we know. –
The ACLJ, where I serve as chief counsel, has obtained records that show the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, under Director James Clapper, eagerly pushed to get new procedures as part of an anti-Trump effort. The procedures increased access to raw signals intelligence before the conclusion of the Obama administration, just days before President Trump was inaugurated.
By greatly expanding access to classified information by unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats, the Obama administration paved the way for a shadow government to leak classified information – endangering our national security and severely jeopardizing the integrity and reputation of our critical national security apparatus – in an attempt to undermine President Trump.

Looks like the California Repubs are going to lose another Rep seat. They are headed for extinction on the West Coast
“Prosecutors: Rep. Duncan Hunter used campaign funds to pursue affairs
The Justice Department alleged that Hunter (R-Calif.) and his wife Margaret Hunter illegally diverted $250,000 in campaign funds for personal use, including to fund lavish vacations and their children’s school tuition. Monday’s court filings also spell out allegations that Hunter routinely used campaign funds to pay for Ubers, bar tabs, hotel rooms and other expenses to fund at least five extramarital relationship”

PaulE 507pm – That’s all very interesting Paul (and yesterday’s news). However, there are a number of points brought up by readers in this comment stream that are of national importance which counter the Democrat talking points (or lies if you wish). Would you not care to take a stab at one of those instead?

The trial is today’s news George. With the Repubs being an endangered species in California this takes on added importance. What’s your speculation as to why the Republican Party is nearly dead in the Sunshine State?

Yeah I miss the Tea Party Bill especially the lively but friendly discussions we’d have at the County Fair. They got sucked up by the Trump thing and lost their independence never to return. Sad.
