[‘Socialism is good for you.’  Now we have Crazy Bernie and Pocahontas claiming that the USSR, China, Cuba, … weren’t really real socialist countries; that they were ruled by tyrants instead of the finely fashioned fettle of fearless führers that they would become.  Someone should ask them to name a single socialist country that didn’t quickly descend into the tyrannical cesspools that recent history has shown us over and over again.  But the Dems are betting, after having screwed up America’s education system sufficiently, that today none of our younger generation have a clue about the various flavors and evolutions of collectivism, and of the hundreds of millions of their own people that what started out as socialism wound up killing over the last 100 years.  gjr]

History is chock full of stories like that. Closer to home, the Harvey Milk story comes to mind, despite the anti-gay homosexual murder narrative portrayed in the movie, “Milk”. Dan White originally had good relations with Harvey Milk. The media likes quick, easy juxtapositions, and so Harvey Milk and White hit the local talk shows together. Milk urged Diane Feinstein, president of the Board, to appoint White chair of the Streets and Transportation Committee, and Milk was one of three supervisors that White chose to invite to his newborn child’s baptism.
Turn the page and we have White, feeling betrayed, backstabbed, and in a bad state of mind shooting four rounds into Mayor Moscone. As White was leaving the scene, he saw Milk’s aide and had a score to settle with Milk for urging Moscone to not accept White’s reinstatement to the BOS. (White had submitted his resignation from the BOS to Moscone, then changed his mind.). Moscone said he was ready to accept White back…until Milk changed Mascone’s mind by pleading with the mayor and not to allow White back on the Board. Bang, bang, you’re dead.
If you toss out the narrative, it was work place violence. BTW, White’s top aide was gay.
Interesting that historians consider newspaper accounts of events the least accurate. Ain’t gay bashing, I am media bashing. We all need our heros and villians, with the truth somewhere between the two. The lamestream unfortunately are the orginal SJWs.
And people quoted Michael Wolfe’s book “Fire and Fury” just this past week. Michael Wolfe, the man who will keep throwing anything and everything (no matter how absurd) against the wall until it sticks.

    Walt, lol.
Yep, with the twirly bird blowing around the dog blankets on the back deck, I did think of you. I wondered how you were hanging in there in the wind. I figured your bar-b-que would not blow over, but maybe your chef’s hat would be gone in the wind and your Kiss the Chef apron would be flapping in your face. Oh boy. Bad day for paper or plastic plates…and salads. Later on, I wondered if someone saw smoke arising from the meat, call the fire department, and they drove up to extinguish the blaze….with fire extinguishers! :). Nah, if they did show up, it was abuse they caught a whiff of irresistible good eats in the wind. “Best go check it out. Let’s roll.”
Fakenews? Well, it depends on the journalist. I am rather fond of Dan lately. From May 14.

RobertC 846am – Thanks for continuing this as a civil dialogue, and providing a link to what you consider as a corroborating reference on evaluating the adjectival ratings of media outlets. Two things I’d like to bring to your attention – 1) MediaBias is a subdivision of The Atlantic, an acknowledged leftwing publication, and 2) nowhere do they describe their methodology or criteria for their published ascriptions.
Now I don’t claim that FN does not have a conservative bias, but I and millions of Americans do accept it as having the most balanced, accurate, AND comprehensive coverage of the nation’s doings. In short, you hear and see important stuff that the so-called MSM don’t touch or cover briefly on page 17. That this is true can be verified in the years of RR comment streams here where I (and sometimes other readers) are accused by you and yours for commentaries on ideas and happenings about which our leftwing readers were totally unaware given their self-imposed limits to obtaining news and information. So they ascribe such ideas as having originated from some ascribed extreme and out of touch rightwing source right here in the foothills, when it is they who are woefully blindered.
And when subsequently shown the links to nationwide/worldwide disseminations of said topics, the unabashed response from our progressive Left is a massive chorus of crickets (until, of course, the next time). All of which is another salient factor for the absence of common ground in the ongoing polarized national dialogue.

The IG Report is nothing….nothing but a legitimate reason to open the floodgates. Margot Cleveland writes some good stuff….and rarely if ever has to retract.
“Rather, as Barr explained to Crawford, “Huber had originally been asked to take a look at the FISA applications and the electronic surveillance but then he stood back and put that on hold while the Office of Inspector General was conducting its review.” This stand-back approach “would’ve been normal for the department,” Barr added.
“Barr’s explanation to Crawford about Huber’s role finally answers the question that has stymieing conservatives for more than a year: What has Huber been doing? Nothing! Huber “was essentially on standby in case Mr. Horowitz referred a matter to him to be handled criminally. So he has not been active on this front in recent months,” Barr acknowledged…………
“He explained: “Well the inspector general at the department, Mike Horowitz, who you know is a superb government official, he has limited powers. He doesn’t have the power to compel testimony, he doesn’t have the power really to investigate beyond the current cast of characters at the Department of Justice. His ability to get information from former officials or from other agencies outside the department is very limited.”
“Further, while Sessions purported to sidestep that concern by appointing Huber to assist in the investigation as necessary, as we know now, the mere existence of the IG investigation “handicapped” the DOJ. By refusing to expand Horowitz’s probe, Barr has ensured that is no longer the case.
“So, while the upcoming release of Horowitz’s report on the FISA targeting of Carter Page is significant in its own right, the closing of the final IG investigation into the Russia collusion investigation promises to open the flood gates for previously undisclosed information and indictments. And President Trump’s decision to authorize Barr to declassify documents, and Barr’s selection of U.S. Attorney John Durham to lead the investigation, suggests it will only be a matter of time before the deluge.“

Lisa Page’s testimony from Jan. I am more sympathetic to her now than before. If interested, scroll down to the section John P. Carlin and continue through Brennan’s role.
(Representative asks) “Why would Director Brennan be aware of things that the FBI was not aware of at this particular point, when it actually would potentially involve, according to Peter Strzok’s word on January 10th of 2017, an unverified salacious set of memos?”
    And then the big reveal:
Unidentified Representative: “We have documents that would suggest that in that briefing the dossier was mentioned to Harry Reid and then, obviously, we’re going to have to have conversations. Does that surprise you that Director Brennan would be aware [of the dossier]?”
Page: “Yes, sir. Because with all due honesty, if Director Brennan—so we got that information from our source, right? The FBI got this information from our source. If the CIA had another source of that information, I am neither aware of that nor did the CIA provide it to us if they did, because the first time we—”
Rep.: “We do know there are multiple sources.”
Page: “I do know that. I do know that the information ultimately found its way lots of different places, certainly in October of 2016. But if the CIA as early as August, in fact, had those same reports, I am not aware of—I’m not aware of that and nor do I believe they provided them to us, and that would be unusual.”……..
The congressional representative then asked the following question:
“What you’re saying is when the director briefed the White House 2 days prior to that, on August the 8th, or prepared for it, actually briefed him on the 10th, that it had nothing to do with any campaign. Even though George Toscas and Stu Evans knew about it.”
Normally, when a member of the FBI uses the word “director,” they would be referring to the FBI director. In this case, while not made absolutely clear in the transcript, it appears “director” refers to CIA Director John Brennan, who had been discussed in the preceding comments relating to Brennan’s briefing of Reid.
From Brennan’s congressional testimony, we know that he had briefed the White House at some point in early August 2016, prior to Aug. 11:
“In consultation with the White House, I personally briefed the full details of our understanding of Russian attempts to interfere in election to congressional leadership, specifically Senators Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, Dianne Feinstein and Richard Burr; and to Representatives Paul Ryan, Nancy Pelosi, Devon Nunes and Adam Schiff between 11 August and 6 September.”
Page responded to the question: “Sir, I would be shocked. I would truly be stunned to discover that the director had briefed the president on the substance of our investigation or even the existence of our investigation. I would be—I can’t say it didn’t happen, I wasn’t there, but I would be stunned to discover that.”

Keep reading what you are reading, Robert. I love it when you declared unequivocally Trump will be gone this Spring, among a sea of other bold statements that end up in the circular file. Spring ends June 21. Best get busy. Clock is ticking. Anymore predictions from your sources?? Oh yeah, loved how you called Barr “Trump’s goon.” You rock.
Love you sources. Oh, NYT and WaCompost do have good travel sections. Let’s hear it for Trump’s 10,000 lies. And I love it most when you tell others what they can read and what they cannot read…or should not read. Must no read. With your track record, I wil make sure to follow your recommendations, roflmao.
Repost quote of the day (last week). “Lefties do not want to ban hate speech. They want to ban speech they hate.”
Well, maybe Bobbie is on to something after all.
“CNN: Overall, we rate CNN left biased based on story selection that often favors the left. We rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to misinformation and failed fact checks from guests and pundits. However, CNN’s straight news reporting would earn a High rating for factual reporting.”
Yep, toss out CNN’s guests, pundits, and the dumbest hosts on TV and you have nothing to watch….but at least it won’t be ignorant and wrong. Silence is golden. Now their straight news reporting is ok….specifically the CNN on-line stuff. The printed word articles are the only real news they cover…and not mess up too horribly bad.
Heck, I know several very fine conservative commentators who started off writing articles for CNN on-line back in the day. First job offers. CNN straight news left the harbor when Bernard Shaw sailed off into the sunset. Does CNN even have one straight news program anymore? I know PMSNBC (MSLSD) doesn’t. Trump was right. Don Lemon is dumb, but not as dumb as Mario Cuomo’s son, Chris. I think he is the dumbest person on television.
CNN only gets the big stories….the important stories wrong. At least they are consistent…like you.

Aha, more verification of good journalism. They will probably start attacking John Solomon soon.
From Lisa Page’s closed down testimony.
“Page quickly noted that she couldn’t discuss the matter in an unclassified setting—but would be able to discuss the matter with congressional investigators in a classified setting.
“The Dragon FISA was referenced in an article by John Solomon in The Hill:
“In one email exchange with the subject line ‘Crossfire FISA,’ Strzok and Lisa Page discussed talking points to get then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to persuade a high-ranking DOJ official to sign off on the warrant.”
“Crossfire Hurricane” was one of the code names for four separate investigations the FBI conducted related to Russia matters in the 2016 election.
“At a minimum, that keeps the hurry the F up pressure on him,” Strzok emailed Page on Oct. 14, 2016, less than four weeks before Election Day.
“Four days later, the same team was emailing about rushing to get approval for another FISA warrant for another Russia-related investigation code-named “Dragon.”
At this point, the potential subject of the Dragon FISA remains unknown.

Also the pathetic representation of your views supporting a total ban in the Community Advisory Group (CAG) demonstrated that there was no intelligent opposition to legal growing in Nevada County. RobertC 1126am – Thanks for correcting my error Mr Cross, and for the link. My problems with MediaBias remain in that they are still a subsidiary of The Atlantic, and that their methodology nowhere defines what hard numerical data (i.e. ratios or frequencies) from their evaluated outlets qualify for categorical descriptions such as “always”, “rarely”, “about never”, “almost always”, …, that are then assigned their rating numbers. They must have some specific standards and the resulting records archive of where different outlets rate. Also, such specifications are required to keep their people turning in apples-to-apples results, else we run into the infamous Kennedy-Pentagon conundrum about the Pentagon’s “good chance” of success for the Bay of Pigs given to the President.
But the bottom line is that people with a liberal ideological bent would give results markedly different from people with a conservative bent, even as they used the identical methodology as MediaBias outlines – I would bet the ranch on it. A better way to do it would involve, say, the WSJ or Federalist, sponsoring a media bias rating, publishing it side-by-side with the one from The Atlantic. The reader could then have his own takeaway. As is beauty, so is bias in the eye of the beholder. Anyone stating that he has an unbiased view of anything is making a specious statement. Most certainly I have never claimed such a pedestal. I am an ideologue with a reasoned belief system and a glossary of semantics that my readers can access any time to evaluate my jaundiced view of the world when I write a commentary.

Not any doubt now that the fix was in and now the rats are chewing on each other –
Two months before Clinton’s FBI interview, Comey circulated the draft statement testing language to be used for not recommending charges against Clinton.
Former Rep. Bob Goodlatte, who served as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee at the time of McCabe’s December 21, 2017 testimony, read aloud Comey’s email. A transcript of the testimony was released three weeks ago by House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Doug Collins, R-Ga, although the portion in question did not receive media attention.
Goodlatte read Comey’s email as follows:
The penultimate paragraph of the May 2 draft reads as follows: Accordingly, although the Department of Justice makes final decisions on matters such as this, I am completing the investigation by expressing to Justice my view that no charges are appropriate in this case.
Goodlatte noted that “this paragraph is virtually identical to what Director Comey eventually said more than 2 months later on July 25, 2016, in recommending no charges against Secretary Clinton. It seems to confirm that the FBI, including the Director, had made up its mind not to charge Secretary Clinton before interviewing her.”

Sorry folks, putting the lines underground is just not an option. WAY WAY too expensive and time consuming. ( I know.. I have put in plenty of underground utilities )

We forked out the money for a backup gen. Big enough for the well, freezer, fridge, a few lights,,, and the all important coffee pot.
So for the newcomers I say Welcome. But your not in the city anymore.
This is what happens out here where the banjos can be heard in the distance.”
Yup,, some could not fathom the idea of power lines above the ground.
    City slickers no doubt.

Now you know its all falling apart before the first debate which should be hilarious! –
Biden took to Twitter on “Best Friends Day” Saturday and posted a tweet memorializing their bond. He posted an interlocking friendship bracelet with both their names to mark the occasion. The caption was simple: “Happy #BestFriendsDay to my friend, @BarackObama.”
The post did not sit well with some on social media. Many said the tweet was clearly self-serving and an effort to remind supporters of his Obama connection.
David Axelrod, Obama’s former senior adviser, responded to the tweet, saying, “This is a joke, right?” Bill Kristol responded to Axelrod, “’Fraid not.”

The littlest commiecongress critter runs and hides from the truth –
Valdes’ account was echoed by Guardian Angels founder and radio host Curtis Sliwa, who said the incident unfolded when Valdes approached the progressive firebrand about 12:30 p.m.
“As soon as she saw him she did a pirouette — a spin — and she ran north on Fifth Avenue, ahead of her delegation, just to get away from Rich,” he said.
“I heard Rich yelling after her, ‘OK, AOC. You can run — but you can’t hide!’”

Sliwa’s wife, lawyer Nancy Sliwa, also snapped photos that show Valdes walking several steps behind Ocasio-Cortez, then facing the camera with a look of exasperation
