The long-awaited report from special counsel Robert Mueller has turned out to be a disappointment on all counts to all sides.  The following summarize my initial take on it.

  1. From a legal perspective, the report is an iconic nothing-burger. A 400-page embarrassment that documents the failure to conclude anything definite about the commissioned purpose for the drawn-out investigation.  It is a collection of legal pabulum as a CYA disguise for spending tens of millions over two years to no avail.
  2. From the gitgo the Mueller investigation was an obviously composed effort to nail the president and derail his administration. The composition of the investigative team and its flailing, off-the-mark, subsequent indictments gave evidence that it really was a desperate witch hunt which had to fire off a few legal pyrotechnics now and then to keep the effort looking credible to the light thinkers.
  3. From a political perspective, the report is a success. Since there was no credible prosecutorial evidence for either ‘collusion’ or ‘obstruction’, the investigation’s redoubt terminus was always to deliver a product that would dissemble its conclusions so as to invite and enable follow-on probes which the Democrats took every opportunity to specify during the 22-month fiasco.  Team Muller got its marching orders early and often from the Left and its lamestream.
  4. President Trump and his administration have been isolated, perhaps, like no other administration in our history. The Dems could never accept the election results, and the Repubs have carried on a feckless relationship with a president who obviously was not their first choice from their retinue of available candidates.  And Trump’s incurable foot-in-mouth disease did not endear him to anyone in the Washington political establishment.  Mueller’s investigation was drawn out for the obvious collateral damage it was inflicting by hobbling and diverting Team Trump from governing.
  5. Mueller’s work has also served 1) to firmly entrench the public’s longstanding opinion of the dodgy legal profession and our convoluted and corrupt justice system in which it operates, and 2) to highlight and further widen our country’s ideological divide. The report’s dearth of evidence and painfully wordsmithed syntax made sure that it would change no minds already secure in their beliefs about Trump’s guilt or innocence.  All sides can now put their own particular spin on it, and never look back.

WSJ Washington columnist Kim Strassel adds more meat to these points in her ‘Mueller’s Report Speaks Volumes’.

[20apr19 update]  Upon reflection on Volume 2 of the report dealing with obstruction, it strikes me as more than utter bullshit that would be below the standards of any other profession other than those populated mostly by sleazebag lawyers.  I add point #6.

  1. “… while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.” A little thought immediately causes one to ask, ‘is there ANY investigation that cannot have such a codicil appended to its conclusion, should the investigator desire to leave a cloud over the individual investigated without the finding of any illegality or indictable criminality??’ To conclude with such an unnecessary assertion is an act of desperation which confirms that the investigation was carried out with an agenda unfulfilled.  Such a dangling innuendo strongly implies that guilt could yet be uncovered with more effort, and forces the so accused into having to prove his own innocence – not exactly the way our system of jurisprudence was intended to operate.  (That is one of the many reasons I assess our judicial system to be invitingly corrupt.)

In Mueller’s case he was not able to indict someone for not obstructing an unobstructed investigation that terminated without finding any evidence of an indictable crime.  About that the Dems are pissed to the gills, and will now do everything to correct the situation.  Go figger.

With all the dancing around and questions about cooperation or not with the special counsel the salient point that no one is discussing is executive privilege.
The President at no point in the investigation or in regard to the report using privileged materials that met the legal guidelines was executive privilege invoked by the President as was his legal right. That’s more transparent than any president in modern history.
Now go eat your crow in rancid Russian dressing!

George 2:31 — there was also no denial that obstruction did not occur except from the trumpeters. There was no evidence that obstruction did not take place either.
“any investigation of your affairs within a corruptible justice system by a legal machine dedicated to your destruction.” that would be your personal assumption that the justice system is corrupt and dedicated to destroying trump… an assumption that is naive to begin with. Wasn’t it that same justice system that pilloried Hillary… you know “Lock her up”. Comey’s election week barb that probably cost Hillary the election..the emails etc etc. so what you imply is that Hillary, therefore, was also subject to that same “corrupt and dedicated” justice system that sought to destroy her.. right? I will go ahead and answer that for you …blah blah blah trump is totally innocent and Hillary was guilty and got away with it.

GeorgeR your updater is spot on. Americans should be outraged that Mueller spent 30 million bucks and went through a million documents and wrote a 400-page report and made such a bullshit statement about “crime”. If that act doesn’t show the intent of the Mueller and deep state than a person has to be brain dead. So my takeaway is FINE. Trump is exonerated and the detractors can stuff it.

Mueller’s report did not exonerate Trump of several million crimes all on the books in all 50 states (57 for Obamites). So, he MIGHT be guilty of all of them. I notice Mueller did not specifically say Trump was NOT guilty so we can dream that he might be!
Since Frisch and Emery and Ooooze haven’t been declared not guilty of any number of crimes in whatever jurisdiction they live in, shall we surmise they ‘probably’ or ‘might’ be or ‘are’ guilty of anything we can think of?

“After reading the redacted Mueller report, I don’t know how anyone cannot be for starting impeachment proceedings. The Mueller Report is crying out for it.
Read the report! It is the exact opposite what Barr has said. It lays out clearly that the reason an indictment wasn’t done against Trump is because the OLC guidelines says he cannot. The report clearly states that since an indictment cannot be done that it must instead lay out the elements of the crime of obstruction and then go point by point to show how the evidence that has been gathered against Trump meets every single one of those elements!
Basically, it says, “Here’s your evidence that proves all the elements of the crime, I cannot indict him, but here’s the ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ for impeaching him and by the way once he’s out of office he can be charged”.
It is clear as day. Barr lied his ass off. Congress must fulfill its constitutional duty of oversight of the executive and impeach this president. We are beyond party politics.”
    And what are the lies?
    And what is the evidence?
The article doesn’t even try to lay them out.
    It’s more of the same.
It’s so because we say it’s so – a lot.
And the more we say it’s true, the more it’s true.
    This is left wing stuff.
It’s the best they can do.
“I cannot indict him, but here’s the ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ for impeaching him and by the way once he’s out of office he can be charged”.
    And that would be?
Well, nothing, as it turns out.
    Absolutely nothing.
The article states there are ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ but can cite not a single one.
You want these idiots to be in charge of a criminal justice system?
This is all straight out of Alice In Wonderland.
This has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with our left wingers here that are nothing more than a crazed mob swinging a rope and looking for anyone to hang. A drunken mob from the saloon stumbling over their own words and their own feet clamoring for a victim.

BT 12:39 – Thanks for the link. Checking with Snopes (left wing as all get out) there were the usual straw man questions about the Clinton Foundation but at the bottom they had to admit there was a gift from Qatar. It seems that the foundation only had to report money given to it that were ‘increases’ over previous amounts. The money pouring in from other foreign entities while she was SOS could be buried.
And they did confirm another problem with the foundation that they solicited donations in states they had not registered in. New York, principally.
Not only was the amount of money given away a miserably small amount, there is a complete lack of proof that the money went to any sort of deserving party. There’s only one reason for the email server being moved to her home and that was to remove from proper oversight all of the email communication going on while she was SOS. The reason she gave was an obvious lie. Her house should have been raided and the server and all other data, electronic and hard copy, removed and examined by the proper authorities.

Perhaps Paul is looking over the Mueller report. Perhaps not.
Paul, there was no finding of anyone from Trump on down who coordinated anything with the Russians. Nothing. De nada.
There was a big opening left for Democrats in congress to exploit because he didn’t find there was nothing to support obstruction of justice… meaning the investigation into the possible coordinating with Russia that came up completely empty.
Didn’t find there was an obstruction of justice, nothing that suggested they might have charged Trump were it not for him being in office and would have to wait until he left office.
Now, a difference Schiff doesn’t grok with his Watergate comparison is that there, Nixon was obstructing justice… investigations of real crimes. The break in. The lying. The hiding of slush funds used.
Here and now, we have Trump acting on the surface of it like Nixon… not because he was guilty but apparently because he and his staff was innocent and Trump knew he was screwed with this hanging over him. So, in Trumpian fashion… me made it worse, but let’s remember it was Comey intentionally leaking government information (stolen from the gov’t) to the NY Times through a friend of his, with the intent being that a Special Persecutor would be put in place to hobble Trump.
    Get it now?

Whereas, the innocent Trump was persecuted for two years, and to this day the persecution continues with no let up. Both actions by our judicial system have proven to be corrupt, thereby exhibiting the breadth of its corruption in how it handles both the guilty and the innocent. The ne’er ending saga:
“And now we know it was all for naught. Well, glad that’s settled – except for the bitter enders who continue to insist they see the ghosts. And one can understand why: If you spent two years confident that Don Jr. was going to jail, it’s impossible to persist as a media commentator admitting your wrongness – better to double down and insist the conspiracy goes even deeper than you ever suspected.”……
“So this sets up an interesting phenomenon. The Democratic Leadership is wisely pumping the brakes on impeachment. The majority of the Democratic conference is with them. The majority of the American people are with them. But influential partisans are in favor of such a foolhardy escapade, despite all the facts we now know, driven by their hatred of this president and a refusal to acknowledge how wrong they were about how he got elected. Much as its authors tried, the report does not aid them in this effort. As David Harsanyi notes, “It went from ‘Russia stole the election with Trump’ to ‘Trump spoke about trying to undermine the investigation that was being used to smear him every day for two years.’” That’s just not going to fly. But influential elites in politics and media are now reduced to this conspiracy of dunces, imitating Homer Simpson chasing after that marvelous pig, insisting it’s still good.“

“And the best precedent for that is George H.W. Have no idea why you had to bring in Mueller’s sideshows that had nothing to do with Trump’s campaign or administration. So the question is really whether you can focus on the facts in those reports about Hillary and Trump, and conclude that our judicial system is not corrupt. You should be able to figure out by now that these things don’t come easily to you and yours. Try to stay focused on the original proposition.

You didn’t note that Bush was a one term President because he lost the confidence of the voters with his manipulations. Lost to Bubba who went on to two full terms.

Papa Bush lost because he renigged on his pledge about taxes. The democrats outsmarted him. And we R’s punished him. Democrats would have reward a scofflaw as they do all theirs. And Bubba never got a majority as Perot took a hefty percentage from Bush and some from Bubba.

Another good report from John Solomon……the political document and “discoverable influence operations.”. Who get the last laugh? He’s laughing right now.
