Justice for Palestine protestors interrupt Spartacluz’s rally.
“We can’t allow them to divide us and we must also resist the urge to divide ourselves because the people on my block … and folks all across the country can’t wait,” Booker said, adding, “They can’t afford a politics of division that sacrifices progress for purity.”
Oh bother, Corey. You sound exactly like Obama a couple of days ago. It’s not the right out there dividing you or “us”. It’s your own party going cannibalistic. That is what you and yours have created. Can’t say “All lives matter” anymore and now you can’t say “Justice for All”, roflmao. This is getting good. Just tell them that there is no such place as Palestine. It does not exist. That will get you some cred and some much needed publicity.

Cher said she failed to understand how the city of Los Angeles in the sanctuary state of California could afford to admit and take care of any more immigrants when city officials have failed to care for homeless, veterans, and poverty-stricken Americans.

Instagram… LOL!!! Yup,, there is the story teller.
I say your full of CRAP!! You have been posting all day. NOT out driving the back roads.
Yes, over 2000 people a day, every day will have to be there, 365 days. Not happening. First off, there is nowhere near enough parking. That’s a fact. People work for a living. So no 2000 people on a Tues., let alone a WED.
So only the likes of you will still try and sell that load of crap.
Just like your AGW BS. Hawaii should be devoid of ANY snow… The globe has been warming… Remember? And down near the equator it should be getting a hell of a lot hotter, faster.
Even D.C. ….. Remember? “Snow is to be a thing of the past real soon.” That was stated 20 damned years ago. How’s that work’n for ya’?
But hey,, believe what you like. Your entitled to your opinion,, no matter how wrong you are.
DAMN… Good thing you hide behind a sock puppet. All credibility would be lost if you said who you really are.
So pictures of overflowing parking lots from the tourist masses will be forthcoming tomorrow night? And time and date stamps will do.

What makes you think I might have been “driving the back roads”? I’m sorry the official visitor record doesn’t reconcile with your advanced statistical analysis. For someone who so vehemently believes the record is wrong, you are desperately lacking for an alternative set of figures beyond the back of a match book.
And what’s this about the weather in Hawaii? What does that have to do with climate or the price of tea in China for that matter? Last year you were all agog with news about a Hawaiian volcano. Was that “climate” related too?

I don’t have much of a dog in this fight (and it’s a ridiculous argument to have on a regular basis, but anything to disrupt a blog, right?), but I did like this quote:
“Community Advocacy Continues for Bridgeport Bridge Project
Nevada County’s historic Bridgeport Covered Bridge welcomes approximately 700,000 California State Parks visitors annually, attracting a healthy tourism economy to Nevada County. ”
https://mynevadacounty.com/CivicSend/ViewMessage/message/60303
That’s a lot of visitors to a bridge.
No doubt there are real economic reasons, fight for budgets if nothing else, for overestimates. I guess if everyone overestimates it all comes out in the wash.
The real message here is that everyone’s ‘facts’ are really just a game of Telephone played on the internet. A requoted (over and over and over) ‘700,000’ number. No publication of raw data or gathering methodology so far as I can tell. You can see how something that is patently false gets loose and becomes a ‘fact’ over time. If it suits your purposes, it’s true.

I was not on the BOS I was running CABPRO. If one looks at the transcripts of those hearings one can see the fictitious way the numbers were put forward. And they are made from whole cloth. Just a practical side. Since there are no toilets to speak of, 700,000 people generate 35 TONS of human waste. Where is it? Also they would drop quite a few tons of garbage which when picked up every year is not indicative of the huge turnout alleged. And what about the costs? Sheriff, rescuers of idiots and even the helicopter. Who pays? Oh the taxpayers. And where are those benefits to local business? Doesn’t happen. They buy their stuff and bring it in. So the SYRCL jerks use the number they created to try and tell us all how important the Wild and Scenic designation is to us. But the truth is it is not.

“there are no toilets to speak of”
There are year ’round flush and well maintained Porta Potties at every improved river access point. There are also trash bins. Open your eyes Magoo.
Why no garbage? SYRCL volunteers pick up trash at trailheads each week, river monitors pick up trash at over 50 sites monthly, and SYRCL organizes a community trash pickup event annually (with nearly 700 volunteers). What does Todd Juvinall do: Whine about about the lack of trash.
You spout your nonsense vinegar enough times and hope somebody believes you. You will continue until you die and be remembered as a very sour man.

The “reams of data” Ozz/Jeff promises at the link I originally provided isn’t reams… “Yuba River” appears just once, associated with the following data:
200,921 (paid attendance, probably derived from parking revenue)
495,205 (unpaid attendance)
0 (the number camping)
696,126 (total)
That isn’t data, that’s the final results. How many people in each car that paid for parking… an estimate… times the number of cars that paid. How were the half million people estimated… does it include cars driving by on the 49? Does it include suicides of folks jumping off the Yuba River bridge in the night?
Those are the numbers that were to be shown. Seven hundred thousand was an early handwaved estimate and this is its backup. Yep, 700k. Yessiree Bob!
LikeLike
Dividing the money collected by the number of people claimed as paid attendance, leads to 53 cents per person.
Wow! What a bargain!
Since the fees for parking at Bridgeport are $5 a day to $10 a day for the summer months, the range of people per car might be between 9 and 19. Either really big cars or small people who don’t mind being really close to others.
Or Clowns!

Now, if my wife and I decide to get into the car and drive down to Bridgeport on a pleasant June day, we’d be paying $5 apiece for the couple of hours at the “park”… ten times the average rate for paid visits.

Hah. Beat me to it. And the final number is? 700,000. For just about anything. Douglas Adams had it wrong.
It’s a great thought experiment to think about how to estimate visitor usage short of constant satellite surveillance. I think Todd has something there with the human waste deal.
Instrument the bejeepers out of one park, measure the human waste resulting. From then on, you just have to weigh shit. Brilliant.

Spot on Scenes. Ozz is just a stalker obsessed with Todd. Wherever Todd goes, Ozzz follows. Obsessed, I tell ya. Creepy. Ozz spends his days following Todd trying to bait him, goad him.
I suppose the 700,000….now 800,000 number is necessary to inflate the numbers to get some State monies coming in, considering all the competitor for dollars. Lying…er…exaggeration….is ok if for a good purpose? Trust us, lol.
Think it is more like the annual bird survey. Go out one day a year and count birds at various spots and extrapolate from that day the entire bird population for hundreds of thousands of acreage. The honor system. I suppose it you went out in pairs, there might be some double counting.
Which brings me to Walt’s question. How many people will drown in the river this year? One has already drowned. If it is one per every 100,000, I would say 7-8. If it is one out of every 10,000, I would say 70-80. Now, if we get a big heat wave in early June, maybe
7 this year. Hopefully they will be from Frisco or Santa Cruz or government contractors. My guess will be the usual four.

Trump filed campaign finance paperwork to run for reelection earlier than any other president, and he has been raising and spending money through his campaign committee since soon after he took office in 2017.

“It does appear to the court that Ms. Zhang was up to something nefarious,” Magistrate Judge William Matthewman said at the federal courthouse in West Palm Beach, adding that he considered Zhang, 33, a flight risk and believed she would return to China if released before trial.
Matthewman said the weight of the evidence against Zhang — who pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of making false statements to federal officers and entering restricted property — is “quite strong.” Prosecutors had asked to keep her locked up.

The crowded field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates is showing early signs of money trouble as donors sit on the sidelines to see how the contest unfolds, signaling a drawn-out primary battle lies ahead.
The Democratic campaign comes into greater focus on Monday as declared White House hopefuls report their first quarter fundraising totals. Early glimpses provided by some of the more than one dozen declared candidates show that Democrats are raising less money than they have in previous cycles and are coming up short against the campaign bank account President Donald Trump is building.
Democrats collectively raised about $70 million since January, according to the candidates who have already released their fundraising totals. That’s less than the $81 million Democrats raised during the same period in 2007, the last time the party had an open primary, according to data from the Federal Election Commission. And it pales in comparison with the $30 million Trump raised during the first quarter.

Now did they plant guns hoping kids would find them?
“The study is titled, “Every Incident of Mishandled Guns in Schools.” It opens with 31 incidents in which guns were allegedly left in places in campus where they were discoverable by students by students or others. No shots were fired in 30 of the 31 incidents and, in the incident where the shot was fired, it was the result of an elementary school student pulling the trigger on a holstered gun carried by a police officer.”

The head of the Norwegian Armed Forces’ operational headquarters (FOH) has admitted that as a result of failing to upgrade the country’s military, Norway would not be able to defend itself in an attack.
Speaking to Norway’s state broadcaster NRK, Lieutenant-General Rune Jakobsen said, “If there is an attack in the classical sense, then we do not have the robustness that is necessary [to defend ourselves].”
“The most serious issue is the size of the land,” Lt Gen Jakobsen said. “Reactivity, robustness, and endurance in all branches of defence are too low, and to be concrete: The army is too small in relation to the tasks it has and what is expected of Norway and in NATO.”

Author Yin Gang, identified as a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, predicts in his column that President Donald Trump will not stop pressuring Iran and its economy if it does not withdraw from the international stage. Yin goes on to argue that America is not the only problem Iran has to face, saying, “Iran is isolated in the Middle East,” and its neighbors agree that it is a regional threat.
“IRGC’s Quds Force’s support to the Houthis, an anti-government force in Yemen, and the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon could not be tolerated by the US and its allies in the Middle East,” Yin writes. “Arab nations and Israel have lauded the US’ move on IRGC.”
Yin goes on to accept what the Iranian government denied for some time: that sanctions on its oil industry in response to its alleged illegal nuclear weapons development, which were lifted in the aftermath of the 2015 nuclear deal and restored last year, will have a devastating effect on the Iranian economy.
“Tehran’s strategy is to outlast Trump’s presidency until 2020 and then hope that he loses the elections, but the US president will not give Iran so much time,” Yin writes. Acknowledging that President Donald Trump is seeking to limit Iran’s military influence and arguing that conceding to Washington will soothe some of the pressure, Yin suggests yielding to America.
“In recent years, Iran’s strong presence in Yemen and Syria has triggered panic in the Arab world and Israel. If Iran adopts a prudent policy of strategic retreat, war and severe internal turmoil could be avoided,” the article reads. “But if it continues to be intransigent, the denouement would be hard to imagine.”
“With little prospect of a thaw between Washington and Tehran in the future, tensions are likely to rise. A better choice for Iran to deal with the situation is a strategic retreat in Yemen and Syria,” the piece recommends.

I detect a bit of latent hostility towards those of us who used our brains and turned houses to efficiently make some bank instead of being a butt monkey dealing with subs, permits, weather, time lines, bids, port-a-potties . . .
As they say, work smarter, not harder. But for some people that isn’t possible.
