Perhaps this interpretation seems alarmist; Yang certainly does not mean to design an authoritarian America. But his basic premise is that a revolution is coming, and the solution seems to be the expansion of government power to keep the “normal people” from rising up against their entrepreneurial overlords.
Technological unemployment is a real problem, and likely only to grow in the next ten years. It is heartening to know that there is a candidate for president who is taking it seriously. But Yang’s solutions suggest that the only possible way out is a growth in the number of government vassals.

When President Trump took office, there were nearly 2 million more people unemployed than there were job openings. There are now nearly 900,000 more job openings that people unemployed.
According to a recent poll released by CNN, more than 70 percent of Americans believe the economy is in “good shape,” the highest number to say so in over 18 years.

“Renewable”. This word has been co=opted by the eco’s to mean what they want it to mean. I thought it meant you wear something out and then “renew” it to use. But they have changed it to mean a form of energy. Anyway, Walt has it right. The manufacture of the solar panels, windmills and other forms of items is never placed in the discussion by the eco-freaks. I once saw an analysis of a Hummer versus a Prius. Turns out the overall issues on “green” were in the favor of the Hummer. Why? Batteries and then their disposal. But the truth does not get told by the greens.

Immigration law at 8 U.S.C. § 1225(b)(2) authorizes the secretary of DHS to return aliens who crossed the Mexican border back to Mexico while their asylum claims are processed. DHS is using that statutory authority.
