[A little while back I asked for feedback on the notion of moderating RR comments in the effort to cut out a lot of the naked ad hominem interpersonal crappola comments that contribute nothing to the discussion of ideas, issues, or events.  The plan would be to quit moderating again as soon as the ad hominems were promoted to at least high school, if not churchillian, levels.  The response from all you worthies was a massive yawn.  Silence is also feedback, so I take that as apparently no one cares.  Thank you. gjr]

Oh no! Don’t touch the electric scooters! How very un-green. Attacking the symbols is soooo Leftinista. Tear it down.
In Paris, the street marches began peacefully but degenerated when some protesters threw punches at baton-wielding officers, torched electric scooters and garbage bins along the Left Bank’s upscale Boulevard Saint Germain and set cars ablaze near the Champs Elysees. Clashes erupted in other cities too.
Both yellow vests and “casseurs”, hooded youths from anti-capitalist or anarchist groups, appeared to be involved.
On Sunday evening, Macron wrote on Twitter: “Once again, the Republic was attacked with extreme violence – its guardians, its representatives, its symbols.”

“The anti-government protesters on Saturday used a forklift truck to force their way into a government ministry compound, torched cars near the Champs Elysees and in one violent skirmish on a bridge over the Seine punched and kicked riot police officers to the ground.

More on the Townhall report on school safety in the aftermath of the Parkland Shooting
“Concerning the commission’s proposal to arm some teachers, the commission chair, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, blasted those who pushed back on it for ideological reasons. “So what are we saying to people — we’re not going to allow you to defend yourself, we’re not going to allow you to defend the kids — why? Because of some ideology that we don’t like guns?” he said, the Sun Sentinel reports. “Anyone who thinks they’re going to get rid of guns is crazy. It isn’t going to happen. We’ve got to do something differently and people should be able to protect themselves.”

And we give top-notch medical care, even “addadicktomes” for the convicts. The infrastructure is crap and his policies allowed the state to burn up and lots of folks to burn to death. Religious test for appointments?
Two Democratic senators, Mazie Hirono of Hawaii and Kamala Harris of California, recently raised questions about Omaha-based attorney Brian Beuscher, who has been nominated for a judgeship on the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska. Their main concern: Beuscher is a member of the Catholic service organization Knights of Columbus, which these Democrats insist has taken a number of extreme positions.
Since I have deep ties to Omaha, I was concerned that such an extremist organization could exist right under my nose. I decided to use my contacts and do an investigation into this mysterious, problematic group.
The first thing I learned: this group is an intersectionalist nightmare. It is made up of 100 percent Catholic men. I was not able to find any members who were Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, or Sikh. Unfortunately, I learned that this lack of diversity affected every aspect of what they do.
This group likes to say that they are devoted to service. What I found, though, is that they often prey on some of our most vulnerable. One member I talked to commits to drive some elderly community members to Catholic Mass every week. Obviously, he viewed this as a way to brainwash some of our most vulnerable.
On the other side of the spectrum, the Knights participate in a number of outreach programs focused on high school students. I was not able to learn the content of these attempts at indoctrination, but one can only guess.
I tried, but failed, to find evidence of their attempts to round up LGBTQ citizens or bar women from seeking abortions. But I was able to learn about some of their more public efforts. Every year, they have a basketball free-throw competition. A minimal fee ($1-$2) is charged for admission, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to local schools.

In my usual search for what others are thinking or writing, I stumbled onto this little essay in Daily Kos:
    https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/1/6/1823576/-What-We-re-Up-Against-The-Right-Wing-Mindset?utm_campaign=trending
When conservatives complain about lefties, we use actual leftie quotes and articles.
When lefties want to complain about conservatives, they are in a bind since there are no actual quotes or articles they can use.
    So – what to do?
They make up an olio of some conservative bits and pieces heavily laced with fabricated BS that is contrary to conservative reality.
    As the author admits:
“These themes are not always consciously perceived or stated (or even universally accepted) but they are believed, to varying degrees of intensity, ranging from casual to fanatical, by most hardcore conservatives:”
Yeah – no actual conservative has ever thought or stated such a thing, but this is what you need to believe. Because it’s not like you should ever actually listen to conservatives or read anything they write.
Another difference found along the great divide.
And these folks are blaming Trump for dividing America?
I can hardly wait to see what the left will concoct as the great boogie man after Trump.

So Walt, Todd and George the reason for the failure of Trumps promise for a balanced budget is because of the Republican party.

Also George why did the tax cuts not pay for themselves as Trump promised. I just accept the simple math that the decline in income was not matched by an increase in revenue. Am I correct in that look?
“WASHINGTON — The federal budget deficit swelled to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018, the Treasury Department said on Monday, driven in large part by a sharp decline in corporate tax revenues after the Trump tax cuts took effect.
“The deficit rose nearly 17 percent year over year, from $666 billion in 2017. It is now on pace to top $1 trillion a year before the next presidential election, according to forecasts from the Trump administration and outside analysts. The deficit for the 2018 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, was the largest since 2012, when the economy and federal revenues were still recovering from the depths of the recession.

You and the Left continue to believe that a simple majority in either house will let the so favored party do anything they want. Simple majorities are better suited to stop legislation (as envisioned by the Founders) than to promote new legislation. BTW, the Left is trying to change that.
It looks like Pelosi’s “sugar high” of tax and regs cuts has produced real GDP growth, record job growth (historic for minorities), and real wage growth. Revenues to the Treasury are up 9%. That’s the facts jack. Tax cuts don’t work, lol.
Now, I can understand some federal workers taking offense to be called non-essential employees. Truth hurts. Come Sept, we can save a few more pennies by axing NPR funds. Another non-essential waste of taxpayers dollars.
Illegals cost us 150 billion a year. Another place to cut, bigley.
I remember when Newt found out that ice was delivered to each congressional representative’s office. He cut that and made everybody walk down to get their own ice. The point he was making was not the ice, but it saved $70 k a year for the service. A drop in the bucket, but the point was a change of mindset. Change the mindset and you can find places to cut. The US Embassy in Jersusalem was built for $400,000, not the 200 million others said it would cost. And Trump told Boeing to go pound sand when they wanted 3 billion for Air Force One. Ridiculous.
As Rand Paul said, “When Republicans are in office, they spend like Democrats.”
Yep, Congress needs to go their job and write a budget. Separation of powers. And fix immigration laws. Congress has absconded their Constitutional duties for far too long.
“The dirty little secret is that, by and large, both parties don’t care about the debt.”
