[A little while back I asked for feedback on the notion of moderating RR comments in the effort to cut out a lot of the naked ad hominem interpersonal crappola comments that contribute nothing to the discussion of ideas, issues, or events.  The plan would be to quit moderating again as soon as the ad hominems were promoted to at least high school, if not churchillian, levels.  The response from all you worthies was a massive yawn.  Silence is also feedback, so I take that as apparently no one cares.  Thank you. gjr]

Jeffie has been harassing Barry P for nine (count ’em), nine years.
    When will it stop?
Why did it even start? Does it have anything to do with their kids being the same age, in the same school?
It is indicative of a severe character flaw of Mr. Pellini.

HOW DARE YOU FACT CHECK ME!!!!!
    https://dailycaller.com/2019/01/07/ocasio-cortez-fact-check-twitter/
“Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a meltdown in a series of tweets Monday over getting fact-checked by organizations like The Washington Post and PolitiFact.
“Facts are facts, America,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Monday. “We should care about getting things right. Yet standards of who gets fact-checked, how often + why are unclear. This is where false equivalency+bias creeps in, allowing climate deniers to be put on par w/scientists, for example.”
“I say true things all the time – I’d hope most do,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “When does Politifact choose to rate true statements?”
Another tweet called out WaPo for giving her four “Pinocchios” — the same number President Donald Trump received over the number of people who died in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria — for her “confusing tweet” about how the Pentagon’s alleged $21 trillion in accounting discrepancies could pay for two-thirds of Medicare for All.”
D.C. will only take so much of her crap.

Am I wrong that the For the People Act applies to all parties and not solely to Trump???
If it is something else please use this link and point out where you think I am wrong.

Nothing like setting yourself up! TOO GOOD not to spread around.
12:38 p.m. — A caller from Glen Meadow Drive reported he was being extorted on social media. A woman asked to see a photo of the caller’s genitals. He sent the photo and then she was demanding money or she would send it to the caller’s friends and family. The woman claimed to be from Italy but wanted the caller to send the money to Ivory Coast, Africa. The caller was told he may consider deactivating his social media account.
Sounds like something Dougy would fall for.

Well “m”,,, You seem to have missed what Queen Nan said.
This “law” is all about getting Trump’s taxes.
If Proggys cared one damn bit about “ethics” they would be putting muzzles on their stray cats, and keep them in line.
There have been ethics violations by the Left for years, yet nothing has been done. And somehow this phony legislation is going to fix all that?
    You are one gullible fool.

Singling out Mr. Trump and his administration, Democrats said that they were making good on promises to voters across the country who vaulted them into the majority with demands to clean up corruption and influence-peddling in Republican-controlled Washington.
I see ” corruption and influence-peddling ” from and by LIBS gets left out… Can you say,, Clintons?
How did Harry Reid become so rich?
Your “O”and Co. administration was more lawless and corrupt than anyone.

Ask the public what they think and we can understand what we need to do to stop the every weekend riots –
A national consultation in France, launched in response to protesters’ calls for more direct democracy, was denounced as having been “sabotaged” after citizens backed conservative policies.
Mainstream media networks over the weekend claimed the consultation had been “hijacked” by “militant conservative networks” after the initial results revealed a distinct lack of enthusiasm in France for progressive, globalist politics.
Journalist Vincent Glad, from the liberal-left newspaper Libération, highlighted that a proposal to repeal same-sex marriage had garnered the most approval, blasting the consultation as “a joke”.

A good overview on what happened when our new “Dear Leader”
    got swarn in today.
    https://californiaglobe.com/governor/two-reporters-ejected-from-newsom-inauguration/
Seems it’s fine to give Trump grief where the press is concerned, but stick it to a LIB? The double standard is alive and well.
It was nice to see the heckling even came from the street.
    The hight here.
“After the ceremony, the second fellow was standing on the Capital grounds when someone who had seen the ruckus came up to him and scolded him: “Build bridges not walls.” The aggravated blogger let loose a string of invective against the unsolicited advice giver and said “Where were you when they were throwing me out and depriving me of my First Amendment rights for no reason?” He has a point.
A few minutes later a panhandler—a white guy in his 30s—approached the crowd that was gathering near N Street. He loudly berated everyone, “You fucking liberals won’t help me out.” A well-dressed black man told the pan-handler to “get a job and stop criticizing liberals.” The pan-handler yelled “How do you know this isn’t my day off, asshole? Were you an affirmative action hire?” “

Phillips is also challenging a provision of Colorado law forbidding business owners from posting notices indicating certain patrons will not be served. The state argued that Phillips does not have standing to challenge that law. Daniel disagreed, explaining that provision chills Phillips’ speech and prevents him from engaging in an activity the First Amendment protects.
This disparate treatment reveals Director Elenis’ and the defendant commissioners’ hostility towards Phillips, which is sufficient to establish they are pursuing the discrimination charges against Phillips in bad faith, motivated by Phillips’ suspect class (his religion),” Daniel wrote.

Education or whatever misnomer they call it nowadays.
“Their ultimate goal? Fundamental transformation. “Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity,” stated the late Harvard University Professor and psychiatrist Dr. Chester Pierce at the International Education Seminar — held in 1973. “It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well by creating the international child of the future.”
Educational Establishment icon — and avowed socialist — Thomas Dewey was even clearer. “You can’t make socialists out of individualists,” he declared. “Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society, which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”
International, interdependent, children of the future who can’t think for themselves, lest they spoil societal harmony? Children who must eschew American exceptionalism and faith in a higher power, lest they be deemed mentally ill? Most Americans are still inclined to see the failure of our Education Establishment, or more accurately, our Democrat Education Complex, as some combination of incompetence and ineptitude.
When six in 10 school kids remain well on their way toward functional illiteracy — and the dumbing-down of curriculums that accommodate it — nothing could be further from the truth.

Building walls, dams, skyscrapers, etc.. all have one thing in common, humans absolute disregard for all other living and non living things on Earth.
In the very misconceived notion human beings are the end of Evolution or sit atop of the Evolutionary Ladder has lead us to endless wars that have been going on around the world for thousands and thousands of years. Most wars are conducted for the need of one natural resource or another.
Indigenous people/ cultures all over the world went through the same growing pains as our fairly young “civilized” culture has been going through since its inception.
We must never forget Native “American” cultures go back tens of thousands of years as does the aboriginal cultures in Australia.
Civilization is only around 5,000 years old.
The difference between “civilized”/ organized religious cultures and first peoples cultures is the first people cultures learned from the mistake of dominance. Out of adaptation and necessity these cultures created new myths and stories to live within the natural cycles of the Earth and Universe.
Civilization has not yet learned this lesson and we continue to set up policies of dominance, resource depletion, over consumption, abundance, and most of all an absolute disregard for all other living and non living things on Earth.
As human culture we have to learn our natural place on Earth and the Universe.
Until we do so our lives from this point forward will ever be declining in quality and in happiness.

Still yapping about how bad things are I see. We humans may not last on the planet and though you count yourself as one you won’t probably see your own demise. Rather than crying about “indigenous” people, maybe understanding all humans are that very thing. Afterall none of us are from a distant planet are we? We have tried as humans to do better, a place to live in a full belly of food, a little fun and yes we fail time and again. But if I had your attitude I too would wish my early demise as to not have to face another terrible day.

Apple iPhones are taking a hit in sales with people being unwilling to pay $1k for a larger phone with more whizz-bang features, trading up every two years to stay with the in crowd.
I’d last purchased a new phone about five years ago, an unlocked phone direct from Google, a Nexus 5, about a 5″ display, for $350. A perfectly adequate phone, even now, but it’s missing a band or two that I think are commonly part of the GSM network I’m using, and it doesn’t support wifi calling or VoLTE, which requires lower level SIM card handling to insure SIM card security over 3rd party data networks.
Wandering through a Costco last week, I noticed… they are selling unlocked Android phones… $239. Came home, looked up the specs on the phone, a Moto G6 (not American made, the Motorola ‘Moto’ brand is owned by Lenovo, the Chinese maker of things electronic that got their start making IBM Thinkpads). It’s got plenty of cpu horsepower, more pixels, better cameras and dual SIM card capability and dual band (GSM and CDMA) support. It also has an FM receiver built in. Online price for now is $200… and for the first time since I started using mobile phones in 1996, because it will work over wifi… it will be usable at my home in the boonies of Nevada County.
Hallelujah. If I keep it for 5 years, it will be costing me $40 a year for the phone hardware, less than a tenth of the Apple revenue model.
Suck on that, Apple. My wife, unlike me, a committed Apple user, is thinking of replacing her iPhone 6s+ purchased for $800 less than 3 years ago, with the Moto g6 to use Google Fi as a provider… selling the phone for $199 with a $100 credit for Fi service.

Well and good……the end of the Apple road for me was the elimination of the “Home Button” My wife has a 10 series phone through work and for the life of me I can’t get the swipe function to work worth a damn!
Apple should probably stop trying to out “cutesy” everyone with their features!

“The key to the Grail is compassion, ‘suffering with,’ feeling another’s sorrow as if it were your own. The one who finds the dynamo of compassion is the one who’s found the Grail.” – Joseph Campbell, Reflections on the Art of Living
How fulfilling life would be if we knew we were leaving a more inhabitable Earth for our children’s grandchildren.
Another quote that I know through Emerson but has been accredited to others as well. None the less it is a good one.
” We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.”
