[So, does a president's responsibility to keep the nation secure, in this case via increasing border security (aka reducing border porosity), constitute a sufficiently important issue to warrant standing firm on his request for a minimal amount of funding ($5B or less) to increase that security and plug our very porous border, which the assaulting migrants are now pouring through at historically high rates? gjr]

Wow, that xhale vape employee sounded just like those homophobe cake bakers, Hobby Lobby, ChickFillet, et al!!!
That’s an interesting notion dugsKKKi…..just more evidence that progressivism is just an ersatz religion with the screechy response of the clerk to one “not of the body” customer that he was in fear for his mortal soul!
At least the baker presented a calm, reasoned position based on his faith for not wanting to serve the gay couple while the dear, dear progressive lad screeched like a frightened howler monkey! #sad
PS: You’ve had plenty of time to think about it! How many dugsKKKi…..how many new brown gardener/housekeeper/geriatric Guatemalan dugsKKKi tenders are we in favor of letting in to satisfy your needs?

PaulE, constant reports come in from the new migrant camps in Mexico telling of how the central Americans are all convinced that they have a right to enter America any way they can. They are being told this by their ad hoc leadership cadres and their NGO lawyers advisers in attendance. Do you have any idea where these people get their ideas for such ‘rights’. Was it through a recently updated study of our Constitution, or some organization in the US, or did they just make it up? Or…?

Hated to leave but it was just getting worse and worse. I had the opportunity and that illegal ‘fire fee’ was the final straw. I could see that staying meant death by a thousand cuts. I do hope that somehow the poor state can survive – I just don’t see how. C’mon, CA – prove me wrong.

Oh, M is just tickled pink that an illegal killed a cop. That’s his special kind of woody.

Darn. Lost another buddy to punching out. Nice man, probably just under 50. Has a good day job, lovely wife and grown children. A community asset in Butte County. Besides his good paying day job, he owns a postcard perfect horse ranch and is heavily involved in horse rescue and many non-profits.
He also was a nice organic farm growing vegatbles to sell to the health conscious (he’s into that) and I particularly loved the way he took old barn wood to build his stables and barns. Great couple, would be a perfect fit in our area. Only problem is he is a conservative and LaMalfa supporter. Just got the e-mail. “Leaving Crazy California after the 1st of the year.” He grew tired of all the rules, regulations, endless taxes, and all the bums, homeless, and crime that has entered his area. Goodbye my friend. Our loss is another state’s gain.
——————————————
.”It will take years for the Republicans to rebuild and the Dems will have free reign.” Ok,fine. The Dems already had free reign in CA before Trump. Federal law says employers must verify the immigration/citizenship status of employees, CA state law says its illegal to check into a employee’s immigration status. We have the Brownstreak to nowhere and have barred LE from letting ICE into local jail cells to remove criminals ordered deported by a federal administrative judge. We have made it against the law to unilaterally offer someone a plastic straw and have exempted the water flowing from Yosemite from the Engandered Spicies Act so that none of the precious wateris diverted for the little smelt. All that water goes directly to Frisco Values Frisco. If that isn’t free reign, what is??
We have 10-11% of the nation’s population and 25% of all the homeless and a third of all those on welfare. We have one of the highest state income tax rates to go with the highest sales tax rates to go with one of the highest business tax rates.
The R’s are toast in CA and nothing can stop the free reign of the Leftinistas. It did not happen overnight. It took years in the making. When I was a kid, every boy wanted a Buck knife. It was coveted. Made in San Diego of all places. Just about the time Buck knives reached their 100th anniversary, the company up and left CA. Around 2005. I think. NestleUSA Left last year,1,800 companies of all sizes left in 2016.

It all gets down to Q of Life. Free reign? You already have free reign. I don’t go to the beaches anymore, anyway.
When I was in high school, the CA public school system was the envy of America. Not so anymore.
My niece still lives here…in the San Jose area. She got car jacked in Roseville visiting the Sierra Nevada recently. Getting closer. And Punchy freaks out about a non-violent sign hung on a post. He has not even felt the first bites of the wringer, living in the bubble and all.
It’s not Trump. It’s the Progressives. It takes two to tango, so do the tango without us. No more showing up on the Constitutional Day Parade. The parade will be toast soon enough as soon as more Leftinistas find out it’s the parade of Marching Slave Owners…White people slave owners. It’s who “we” are with our Frisco Values.

According to a new report out of Villanova University, sleep-texting is a growing issue among young men and women. Scientists surveyed 372 students and found that nearly a quarter of them reported texting in their sleep — and 72 percent of those sleep-texters didn’t remember their midnight missives in the light of day.
“I think it’s more common than we realize,” says lead study author Elizabeth Dowdell, who was inspired to research the phenomenon when she heard undergrads discussing it.

Good Lord Russ, you should get outside more I think.
My sum total of regular news:
Radio Sputnik
BBC World News (and sometimes BBC4)
now and again a couple of what are essentially aggregators (4chan.The_Donald,zerohedge) just to find the funniest deviltries coming out of the Blue Mob lately. The other ones, Pension Tsunami and CollegeFix, I just found depressing over time.
I figure if news is important, I’ll hear about it from someone. I can’t say that the minutia of an empire augering in is very educational.

Good list, Russ.
What the Robert Crosses and M’s of this world do not grasp is the debate that goes on in conservative/libertarian circles concerning a multiple of issues under the sun that they are blissfully unaware of. Some constitutionalists have filleted Mitch for (as they see it) going along with unconstitutional programs or budget items presented by the previous administration….before Trump. They feel Mitch should have at least protested on Constitutional grounds. Others do not like tariffs or voice disagreement with particular items in the Crime bill which fails to notify rape or assualt victims that the bad guys have been released back in the community, as an example. There is never 100% agreement on a wide range of issues, as there is seldom 100% agreement in any group, be it a sewing circle or how best address wildfires or fundraising for a non-profit.
What puzzles me is the fingernails on the blackboard reaction to the Drudge Report. Fake news!, The Drudge Report is just a bulletin board posting links from around the country. Like the bulletin board at The Briar Patch or a laundry mat.
I have yet to read one article written by Drudge or staff. Akin to Google News or Yahoo News, except Yahoo News or Google will take an article from Miami or Chicago or the wires and throw Yahoo Enterainment on the headings….while condensing a link from the Hollywood Reporter or some fashion magazine. Drudge just gives the reader links to read, covering everything under the sun from our horrid sickening repulsive gross obesity crises to Syria. Anyway, I remain puzzled why the “Fact Checker” attacks on Drudge Report is all about….since Drudge does not write articles but very seldom and that is on traffic flow.
Another thing the Control Freak Leftinistas who DEMAND we not read this or that publication fail to grasp is sites and organizations change overtime. Somtmes I feel that the Southern Poverty Law Center is itself a terrorist organization. I do give them credit for labeling The Nation of Islam as the hate group they are. At least a broken clock is correct twice a day, if only for a millisecond. And despite the ACLU pointing to defending the rights of Nazis to peacefully assemble in Stokie way back in the 70’s, after Charlottesville no way will they defend the rights free speech of such groups in the future. Fox is changing and the NYT has publically declared they have thrown journalistic standards out the window to Resist! Bad Orange Man. What, after Trump they will return to objective journalistic standards? Not likely. They like making the news more than reporting on the news.
The Lefties like M see something like an article I post from some site like the Patriot Post and immediately decry the source….not even bothering to see the article was linked and reprinted with permission from AP or even the WaPo, lol. Contempt prior to investigation. Or, they fail to grasp that I may like one writer from a sight but disagree with another writer from the same site.
Sometimes I refrain from posting a good link if it contains a paragraph or two that appears ‘too preachy’ or off topic, no matter how spot on the main point is. And often times, like Scenes, I grow bored with sites and some parrot’s mindless distractions due to TDS, BDS, or general hatred of anything Right. Strike that. Of anything contraire to their worldview. That MUST be silenced. They, like a fat man wallowing in self pity, try to prevent Righties from peacefully assembling.
How many times does Dr. Rebane have to ask someone from the Left to present (or list) their credo or core beliefs as it pertains to policy or issues? Too many to count. Bush lied, people died…Orange Man lied…or RINO or Fox contributor said this or that against bad Republicans and that’s all they are capable of presenting. Can’t talk about their own plans or ideas or policy because they have no plan. The Leftinistas believe in coercion, not persuasion, IMHO.
Oh yeah. To the uniformed popinjays dipshits Fox’s Judge Nappy is a libertarian, not a “lefty”.
Here is an interesting article. Can’t say I agree with it in its totality or even 80% of it, but agree with the overall premise…that Trump is for the little guy. Who else would work OT on Christmas for free? How else would say that our trading partners (and some allies) are screwing us royally? Who else would say he refuses to pay an outrageous price for the new Airforce One. “I want Boeing to make money, but not that much money.” We have been getting screwed, folks.

In the “some people retain their moral character” dept. — Retired Army 4 Star Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the former top commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, said he would. not take a job in the trump administration if offered because, “It’s important for me to work for people who I think are basically honest, who tell the truth as best they know it….I don’t think he (trump) tells the truth…. What I would ask every American to do is … stand in front of that mirror and say, ‘What are we about? Am I really willing to throw away or ignore some of the things that people do that are pretty unacceptable normally just because they accomplish certain other things that we might like?’”
George– this goes back to the post I made the other day about moral compass and political expediency, that you pushed aside because it was not under the proper blogpost category. This is the premier issue, not borders, not immigration, not so called fake news, climate change, or the witch hunt. This is at the heart of what America is or isn’t. Are we a country of moral character and values that does the right thing, what is best for humanity and the planet, or is winning, making money, and power, by hook or by crook, more important.

Those are words federal judges have used to describe President Donald Trump’s tweets while guarding the secrecy of ongoing investigations that have shadowed his presidency.
And in an unusual twist, these rulings mark victories for Trump’s own Justice Department, which has argued repeatedly that the president’s comments on the probes are not always to be taken literally

Professionally, Jack was head of the Department of Education at Eastern Michigan University as well as a prolific author of numerous books, most of which were on the topic of Education and the Government role therein. His interest in Conservative Politics was exceeded only by his intellectual ability.
This is the last of his works:
Civil War
How do civil wars happen?
Two or more sides disagree on who runs the country. And they can’t settle the question through elections because they don’t even agree that elections are how you decide who’s in charge. That’s the basic issue here. Who decides who runs the country? When you hate each other but accept the election results, you have a country. When you stop accepting election results, you have a countdown to a civil war.
The Mueller investigation is about removing President Trump from office and overturning the results of an election. We all know that. But it’s not the first time they’ve done this. The first time a Republican president was elected this century, they said he didn’t really win. The Supreme Court gave him the election. There’s a pattern here.
What do sure odds of the Democrats rejecting the next Republican president really mean? It means they don’t accept the results of any election that they don’t win. It means they don’t believe that transfers of power in this country are determined by elections.
That’s a civil war.
There’s no shooting. At least not unless you count the attempt to kill a bunch of Republicans at a charity baseball game practice. But the Democrats have rejected our system of government.
This isn’t dissent. It’s not disagreement. You can hate the other party. You can think they’re the worst thing that ever happened to the country. But then you work harder to win the next election. When you consistently reject the results of elections that you don’t win, what you want is a dictatorship.
Your very own dictatorship.
The only legitimate exercise of power in this country, according to Democrats, is its own. Whenever Republicans exercise power, it’s inherently illegitimate. The Democrats lost Congress. They lost the White House. So what did they do? They began trying to run the country through Federal judges and bureaucrats. Every time that a Federal judge issues an order saying that the President of the United States can’t scratch his own back without his say so, that’s the civil war.
Our system of government is based on the constitution, but that’s not the system that runs this country. The Democrat’s system is that any part of government that it runs gets total and unlimited power over the country.
If the Democrats are in the White House, then the president can do anything And I mean anything. He can have his own amnesty for illegal aliens. He can fine you for not having health insurance. His power is unlimited. He’s a dictator.
But when Republicans get into the White House, suddenly the President can’t do anything. He isn’t even allowed to undo the illegal alien amnesty that his predecessor illegally invented. A Democrat in the White House has ‘discretion’ to completely decide every aspect of immigration policy. A Republican doesn’t even have the ‘discretion’ to reverse him. That’s how the game is played That’s how our country is run. Sad but true, although the left hasn’t yet won that particular fight.
When a Democrat is in the White House, states aren’t even allowed to enforce immigration law. But when a Republican is in the White House, states can create their own immigration laws. Under Obama, a state wasn’t allowed to go to the bathroom without asking permission. But under Trump, Jerry Brown can go around saying that California is an independent republic and sign treaties with other countries.
The Constitution has something to say about that.
Whether it’s Federal or State, Executive, Legislative or Judiciary, the left moves power around to run the country. If it controls an institution, then that institution is suddenly the supreme power in the land. This is what I call a moving dictatorship.
Donald Trump has caused the Shadow Government to come out of hiding: Professional government is a guild. Like medieval guilds. You can’t serve in if you’re not a member. If you haven’t been indoctrinated into its arcane rituals. If you aren’t in the club. And Trump isn’t in the club. He brought in a bunch of people who aren’t in the club with him.
Now we’re seeing what the pros do when amateurs try to walk in on them. They spy on them, they investigate them and they send them to jail. They use the tools of power to bring them down.
That’s not a free country.
It’s not a free country when FBI agents who support Hillary take out an ‘insurance policy’ against Trump winning the election. It’s not a free country when Obama officials engage in massive unmasking of the opposition. It’s not a free country when the media responds to the other guy winning by trying to ban the conservative media that supported him from social media. It’s not a free country when all of the above collude together to overturn an election because the guy who wasn’t supposed to win did.
Have no doubt, we’re in a civil war between conservative volunteer government and a leftist Democrat professional government.

The draft of the state commission’s report on the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting is out. Blame laid at the feet of Coward County Sheriff Israel AND the school.
Sun Sentinel: Here’s Why We Now Agree With Republicans That Broward Sheriff Scott Israel Should Be Removed:
“Besides Peterson, seven other deputies also heard the gunfire and failed to pursue the shooter, as best practices would dictate. During interviews with investigators, several noted BSO policy says they could pursue a shooter, but don’t have to.
Israel should be mortified to know a team of Coral Springs police officers blew by his deputies and entered the building where Nikolas Cruz had unleashed hell. A Sunrise police officer who raced to the scene said a BSO deputy told him: “Don’t go in.”

RobertC 1155am – Thanks for coming back to your morality argument. Consider that the US has been and continues to be the most moral country this planet has ever seen. NO ONE, not ever, has given of itself so much, so often, to so many as has America. And yes, in the process we have had to do the best to look out for our interests in remaining a strong and effective bastion of liberty and poster child for the world so that they can see what is the art of the possible in governance. If we ever lose our pre-eminence as the world’s white hat hegemon, then millions more will die, and even more millions will live out their abbreviated lives in squalid and brutish conditions. Our work in the world has contributed the most for the increase in literally every salutary statistic that describes the QoL of the world’s people.
America is the shining beacon on the hill. And were it ever to be extinguished, there would be no one else to relight the torch for generations. I submit you don’t know of which you speak when you hold up America as an immoral nation.

If America stands up for its Constitution and the moral standards of the God that inspired it…we’ll be okay. I’m reminded of what my beloved husband did once. He’d been in a very bad mood at the beginning one week. At the end of the week he came home all smiles and remarked that he might lose his job, but he was happy about what he did. Evidently the log scaler at a local lumber mile was cheating all the truckers and loggers. Finally Mel was fed up and did something. The truck that pulled up after him noticed the scaler laying on the ramp and asked him what happened. His reply was “McGuire nailed me!” Later the boss told Mel to come to him first, but do you think things would have ever changed for better if someone hadn’t drawn attention to it?

Does your “shining beacon on the hill” American torch that you descrribe include our illegal invasion of Iraq that took the lives of hundreds of thousands o civilians ? How about our support of Saudi Arabia in Yemen and the starvation and death of thousands of innocent women and children? Is this the work of God or the devil Bonnie?

Our military did not target and kill ‘hundreds of thousands’ of civilians.
That is left wing BS. But Emery hates this country and wants to denigrate it every chance he gets while giving China and other countries a free pass.
The situation in Yemen is a mess – the US is not starving anyone.
Maybe Emery thinks we should start a war with the Saudis. But all he can do is throw rocks. Paul Emery has a rather peculiar moral compass. It seems to only find fault with people he doesn’t like. Strains at the gnat and ignores the elephant.
Must be nice to hide in Nevada County and cherry pick little bits of bad stuff here and there at his whim. Paul wouldn’t know evil if it came up to him and spit in his face,

PaulE 928pm – Unfortunately it does Paul, even though it was not we who killed the thousands of civilians in the war’s aftermath. And it also includes Dresden, Hamburg, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, … . We are not perfect, but we are the best that humanity has been able to cobble together on this planet.
Administrivia – I also call your kind attention to the 30dec18 addendum to the latest Scattershots.

The FUE thinks RR is similar to the bar scene in Star Wars. Could be. The RR posters are numerous and different and intelligent. The wasteland at the FUE blog makes me sad. He is so lonely to have anyone that he uses female sock puppets. What a hoot!
