[Well, does Mueller have anything on Trump and the Russians, or are he and his boys just continuing to manufacture crimes so that in the end they can point to some accomplishments, while hoping to distract all from the charter that gave rise to their commission?  Sure would like to see what he would have escrowed when I first suggested it.  gjr]

Freedom Caucus. Thanks. I mistakenly called them the Heritage Caucus the other day. They do remind me of some other group Nancy did not care for. Freedom Caucus, not Heritage Caucus. Ann Coulter fried Trump so hard that he unfollowed her, lol. That be our wild and crazy Ann. She sold Trump on the Wall after he read one of her books and talked to her long ago. And she was the first to say he would win. She sure is a firecracker, than Ann. Trump will take off the unfollow setting and follow her again…in time.

You sure ain’t with the times Paul. There are MANY ways MEX will pay for the wall. Who said payment has to be monetary?
The wall is worth 1000 bucks for every boarder jumper it stops. Just think of all the money that WON’T be getting sent back.
Illegals working here is one of MEX biggest revenue generators.

Exactly right. There never was a claim by Trump HOW Mexico would pay for the wall, so it was just hyperbole. However, there was the promise to actually build the wall, now just referred to as “border security”.
The “Resistance” have done much to screw with Presidential powers… I don’t think they’ve thought it through to when the DEMs again have a President in the office.
I see the “Russia Investigation” is said to be tying off loose ends with a report to be issued in mid February. This will be interesting to watch, no matter if Mueller has something juicy or not. Especially if not.

This is the worst day of Trumps Presidency and it will only get worse. Stock market crashing, Mattis resigning in protest, pulling out of Syria against ALL advise, and Trump taking responsibility for shutting down the government to appease the shrill right and that’s only a beginning.
Also Kelly, who would somewhat temper Trumps immaturity, is leaving and in less than two weeks the Dems will control the House by 40 votes.
Meanwhile he’s being attacked by at least 12 legal actions by Federal and State investigators and his family is facing legal scrutiny for questionable financial dealings.

On a lighter note…..rumors of the FUEs demise apparently were premature! It looks like he made landfall last night or early this morning when the Gravy Boat in which he travels was spotted temporarily moored while Baron Fatkonnen disembarked. This prior to another round of local fussbudgetry for the Baron!
No ongoing travelogue so perhaps just a brief rest before letting Nevada County how much that they disappoint him again!

Quotes and a meme for a Friday morning Sandbox. A smoke and a pancake. Last quote is the the best: clear, concise and complete.
The BIG Lie I: “The president is doing everything that he can to shut the government down.” —House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
The BIG Lie II: “The administration is now deciding they will make an assault on poor people in America. … Why at Christmas would you take food out of the mouths of the American people?” —Nancy Pelosi
Non Compos Mentis: “I firmly believe the [Constitution] permits indicting a sitting president, but if DOJ disagrees, indicting his children, the Trump Org & Foundation for their roles in wrongdoing is a great alternative — or addition.” —Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks
Dezinformatsiya I: “[Trump] has taken full credit for things that he doesn’t deserve full credit for because a lot of this stuff gets set in motion before, and a lot of it is about the end of the Obama presidency. He then has to take full blame for it when in the second two years of his presidency, after his policies have had more time to kick in, the economy is doing worse.” —New York Times columnist Frank Bruni
Dezinformatsiya II: “He rode the Obama economy for the first part of the presidency. He’s still riding it!” —CNN’s Don Lemon
Speak of the devil: “I’d say we’re in for contentious times and for too many rules, too many constricting mandates and probably too much spending.” —California Gov. Jerry Brown
Alpha Jackass: “It is repugnant to me and astonishing to me that during Christmas, I like to call it the holiday season to be inclusive, but during Christmas the majority always wants to just call it Christmas, a time in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a Jesus Christ who had to flee for his life with Mary and Joseph. Thank God there wasn’t a wall that stopped him from seeking refuge in Egypt. Thank God that wall wasn’t there, and thank God there wasn’t an administration like this or he would have too perished.” —Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) (Evidently, he’s never heard of King Herod.)
And last… “The reason a secure border wall has not been — and may not be — built is not apprehension that it would not work, but rather real fear that it would work only too well.” —Victor Davis Hanson

“So, if I understand your silence correctly, General Mattis, once the hard right darling, is now a treasonous turncoat. ”
It strikes me as a difference of opinion between the Prez and SecDef, which is an allowable thing. It’s tough to go to Washington and not bring a pre-vetted complete entourage with you. That’s the problem with electing a third party President.
There’s always the Nixon model of installing a sidekick who bypasses the cabinet, so you just never know.
In any case, ‘understanding silence’ just strikes me as a bit of that proto-Soviet phrasing that the Blue Mob tends towards. Next thing you know, you can cook up a ‘Doctor’s Plot’ to stir things up a bit.

In your opinion why have the Republicans in California suffered so greatly Paul?

    Like

  30. Paul Emery Avatar

    Good question fish
My guess is that the Democrats are better organized, have better voter registration drives, raise more money, field better candidates and took effective advantage running against an extremely (in California) unpopular President-Trump-who only gathered 31%-yes that’s correct-of the vote with Hillary nearly doubling him at 61%. So Republicans that pledge allegiance to Trump have a huge disadvantage. It will only get worse in ’20.
The best the Repub have fielded in recent years is Swartz and, well, we know what happened there.
The only hope Republicans can have in ’20 would include fielding candidates independent of Trump with a California first campaign.
When I chide Todd to get to work I am actually half serious because some kind of balance is healthy and even encouraged by our outgoing Governor Brown who says California “deserves a strong Republican Party”
So encouraging Todd types to get to work is in all of our best interests who support representative government and Democracy.

Another leading light of the fakenewsmedia craters –
For the left, facts and logic are dispensable if twisted in the pursuit of a higher cause: the woke narrative. To use the example of Claas Relotius’s smearing of Fergus Falls, Minnesota at the beginning, it really doesn’t matter much to a leftist journalist if you tell lies about people who vote for Donald Trump. That’s because, in leftist eyes at least, Trump voters are at best stupid and at worst sick or evil – therefore by misrepresenting them you are not actually lying, only rearranging reality in order to serve a more important, higher truth.
This is why it has always struck me as a huge mistake, the way the left keeps banging on about #fakenews. It’s like Quasimodo telling everyone how ugly and hunchbacked they are. Look in the mirror, freak!

It just keeps getting funnier and funnier; the complete BS boasting by the chief goombah. Talk about a sick puppy. If he wasn’t the prez he would probably be in a straight jacket or jail.
Breitbart “exhibits one or more of the following: extreme bias, overt propaganda, poor or no sourcing to credible information and/or is fake news.” As a source Breitbart is considered to be “Questionable based on extreme right wing bias and publication of numerous false claims.” source: Media Bias/Fact check

“why have the Republicans in California suffered so greatly…?” because, like in the rest of the country, their values and positions are at odds with the best interests of a majority of Americans. Don’t forget that both Bush 2 and trump LOST the vote. The only reasons republicans hold power anywhere is through massive donations from corporation and the wealthy that supported extreme right wing candidates at the state level, who then enacted legislation that instituted voter suppression and gerrymandering to cement their power. The midterms tend to indicate people aren’t buying it anymore. The only question is whether or not the stranglehold this creates can withstand the will of the people or not. Maybe people in CA just aren’t as gullible as those in Mississippi and Alabama and other red states.
