PaulE 1119am – campaign claims of hopeful fulfillment, or advertising copy if you will. For you they are no doubt “outright lies”, which, of course, have hundreds of analogs having come from the mouths of Dems. However, vigorous economic growth is the ONLY means by which deficits can be eliminated and the debt starting to be reduced. As I’ve shown in these pages, the rate of sustained GDP growth required for such a happy time is >5%, very hard to achieve for an economy as large as ours that needs to concurrently fund massive entitlements and military. One mo’ time – the dollar must be destroyed.

At what point are you going to concede that Trump is full of poop and you can’t believe a word he says because he makes it up with no research or verification of the facts. And yet you still rail on about Obama and his Obamacare misstatements. what is the difference? Oh yeah. Mexico is going to pay for the wall-right George!

Doesn’t matter what I believe….Trump is already president. Unless something catastrophic happens to the country economically (a possibility growing more likely daily I grant you) Trump will almost certainly be president after the 2020 election.

Interesting reading of this discussion of inflation. Nothing to add, save…..
It’s been awhile since I sat in a freshman classroom learning bonehead macro economics 101 (taught by a top VP of Geneal Motors back in the day), but I do remember that one component of inflation was the velocity of the dollar.
All my freshman. professors back then (most with Fortune 100 experience and doctorates) repeatedly warned us youngins to be wary of those who taught subjects for 30 years at prestigious institutions of higher learning The esteemed ones who write text books and haven’t a clue what they are talking about as applied to the real world where real money and real dollars and real production and real consumption is on the line. Monopoly board game money does not cut it….well, maybe for Government.
Carry on. Read this article last night. Not on inflation, but eerily familiar….kicking the can down the road is not just about continuing resolutions.
“Correa thought he was a genius and he has escaped accountability by giving the problem to someone else,” Albornoz said. “Moreno knew he was inheriting a country in bad shape but wasn’t fully aware of the things he has to do to correct the problem.”
“Jaime Carrera, director of the watchdog Fiscal Policy Observatory, said the IMF is sure to set conditions for any bailout, including a likely demand that Moreno cut at least 10 percent of the 450,000-strong central government workforce and end all or most of $4 billion in annual fuel subsidies for consumers. Meeting those preconditions will carry a political cost, he said.
Although Correa has been made the scapegoat for Ecuador’s problems, economics dean Albornoz also blamed Moreno for not doing enough to reduce state budgets since he took office in May 2017. Government spending, which Correa nearly tripled over his decade in office, is still too high, he said.
“Has Moreno learned anything? I’m afraid not. I don’t see any austerity in the government and there should be a lot of it,” Albornoz said. “The IMF is a bank and it expects to be paid. But with no austerity plan, a huge deficit and public expenditures rising, it’s going to be difficult for Moreno to get a loan.”

Trump is losing support from what was once his core support.
“Estranged Trump supporter Ann Coulter on Tuesday lashed out at President Donald Trump for blatantly lying about having built large sections of his proposed border wall.
On Twitter, Coulter posted a link to a fact-check article from the Washington Post that took the president to task for falsely claiming that much of the wall had already been built.
““Even a Washington Post reporter knows that not one inch of Trump’s wall has been built,” she wrote. “Does Trump think his supporters are dumber than a WaPo reporter?”
Trump tweet:
….People do not yet realize how much of the Wall, including really effective renovation, has already been built. If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall. They know how important it is!
I mean his guy is seriously mentally ill.

Ann Coulter! I love that woman.
Dumber than a WaPo journalist? That’s pretty dumb. That’s real dumb. And that’s my Ann. Last time she said something exactly like that happened to be when she (and I ) thought Trump was wavering on Border Security. The Left does not want Border Security, no way, no how. Now that that lying corrupt War Monger McCain kicked the bucket and Flake and Corker and Paul Ryan are gone or leaving, things are looking up. Besides, Brain Dead John was only polling at 20% so at least he did not have to face a stunning boot from the voters and see his political flag at half mast when he was still sucking air.
Hold his feet to the fire, Ann! Shut down the gov’t, like do it now! No more continuing resolutions. The American people want border security and the Leftinistas are on the wrong side on this one. Every poll shows it for quite awhile. Congress has to get off their duffs and write a budget. They have absconded their constitutional duties for too long. Come on Mitch, do your job.
Besides, it won’t be a shut down. 70% of the government is already funded through 2019 ROFLMAO. 1/6 of government we can live without anyway. Non essential. The welfare checks will keep coming, that’s all that matters. Who cares about NPR, anyway.
I can see the media finding that guy concessionaire who gives sleigh rides in Jellystone Park, whining about the shut down affecting the money lining his pockets again. He is their go-to guy. Fakenews will just roll old footage. And who cares if somebody who has never stepped foot in the USA can’t get a Visa from some foreign embassy to come to Disneyland and shout Allah is Great. They can go to France.
Shut down the government and nobody notices anyway. It’s the only tool Trump has right now.
Dumber than a Wa Compost reporter? That is too funny. You go girl.

TRUMP: “But it’s not bad, Nancy. It’s called transparency.”
PELOSI: “I know. It’s not transparency when we are not stipulating to a set of facts and we want to have a debate about you, confront some of these facts.”
TRUMP: “You know what? We need border security. That’s what we will be talking about. Border security. If we don’t have border security, we will shut down the government. This country needs border security. The wall is a part of border security. Let’s have a talk. We will get the wall built and we have done a lot of wall already. It’s a big part of it.”

PaulE 124pm – That question is beyond irrelevance in this discussion thread. Those Trump supporters, who believe that ‘building the wall’ means that only a high and deep physical barrier will secure the southern border, probably are dumber than WaPo readers.
The overwhelming share of people (mostly Republicans) believe/know that ‘securing our border’ means lowering its porosity to a tolerable level (mine is 15K illegals per year) which, if achieved, will be with a mix of technologies that are appropriate to the terrain, nearby populations, and expected rates of assault. ‘The Wall’ will most likely be a flexible system that can be rapidly reconfigured to bring assets to bear near the greatest threats of penetration. (I can’t believe that I just went through all this again. It’s like talking to 2x4s with faces painted on them.)

“In one striking detail, footnotes in the Flynn memo say the 302 report cited was dated Aug. 22, 2017 — nearly seven months after the Flynn interview. It is not clear why the report would be written so long after the interview itself.
The brief excerpts from the 302 used in the Flynn defense memo will likely spur more requests from Congress to see the original FBI documents. Both House and Senate investigating committees have demanded that the Justice Department allow them to see the Flynn 302, but have so far been refused.”

RR’s favorite Judge and a commentator on Fox news is saying Trump committed a felony. Read this carefully:
“On Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney pleaded guilty to crimes involving a scheme to pay off two women Trump had affairs with.
Fox News host Shep Smith discussed the developments with the network’s legal analyst Andrew Napolitano, who said Trump appears to be in deep trouble.
Fox News host Shep Smith discussed the developments with the network’s legal analyst Andrew Napolitano, who said Trump appears to be in deep trouble.
“We learned that the federal prosecutors here in New York City, not Bob Mueller and his team in Washington D.C., career prosecutors have evidence that the president of the United States committed a felony by ordering and paying Michael Cohen to break the law,” he said. “How do we know that? They told that to a federal judge and under the rules, they can’t tell that to a federal judge unless they have the evidence.”
Napolitano said the prosecutors who handled this are pros—and that this increases his confidence they got it right.
“The U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, a Donald Trump appointee taking a page from Jeff Sessions book, recused himself, leaving this case in the hands of the full-time career professional prosecutors,” he said. “They’re the ones that prosecuted Michael Cohen, told the federal judge that Donald Trump orchestrated these unlawful payments.”
Trump appears to be guilty of a felony, said Napolitano.
“The felony is paying Michael Cohen to commit a felony. It’s pretty basic,” he said, explaining how hiring someone to commit a crime makes you guilty of that crime. “You’re liable, criminally liable for the commission of that crime. That’s what the prosecutors told the federal judge.”

The restriction is one of many included in an ordinance passed unanimously Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors. Also prohibited are discharging a gun in single- and multi-family zones, or on agricultural residential land under 5 acres; firing a gun within 150 yards of any dwelling; and firing a gun within 1,000 feet of a school or park.
People also are banned from continuously firing a gun for more than two hours without at least a two-hour break.
Supervisors first discussed the ordinance in November, approving it on Tuesday. It becomes effective Jan. 10.
The 150-yard prohibition won’t apply to people firing a gun on their property, to members of his or her family and invited guests.

I confess to not knowing who “Sheb” Smith is! Again I don’t remember any overly effusive praise for Napolitano from anyone but you! I certainly don’t remember any “good” news from Napolitano about the Trump administration since it’s been a full court press (Russia, Russia, Russia….!) since the inauguration!
If you can show me posts that gushing over Napolitano and his opinions I’ll retract my previous statement.

Trump is now suggestion there will be a revolt in this country if the House fulfilled it’s Constitutional responsibility and Impeached the President (him) because they felt it was necessary. Is this inciting violence?
“the president told Reuters reporters about his potential impeachment during an interview in the Oval Office. “I think that the people would revolt if that happened.”
