[A reader alerted me to another gem of the FUE's logic. He takes to task those who criticize the People's Republic of Kalifornia, and still (gasp!) take their leisure at the state's awesomely scenic locales. The man's brain cannot separate terribly gone wrong social policies from the state's natural beauty, as if eschewing one requires rejecting everything that is still good about the state, and that mainly because the progressives have yet to eliminate the last vestiges of such enjoyments (e.g. denying/limiting public access to TBD 'wildlands'). This thinking by local lefties is replicated in Sacramento, because those are the idiots that the gimmes all over the state have now voted into power. And that California now has achieved the nation's highest poverty rate gives additional depth to the ignorance of these leftwing loonies. gjr]

I posted a comment to a letter at The Union, copying here:
By her linkedin page Ms. Denney does not “teach” Agriculture at Chico State. She has a Bachelors and a Masters in “Agriculture Education” from Chico (which apparently has as much to do with Agriculture as Math Education has with Mathematics… not much), and was a lecturer as a grad student, ending in 2014 when she was awarded the masters. Since then, she’s been mostly a self employed Instructional Design Consultant/Learning Designer.
Being a Congresscritter would be the best job ever for young Ms. Denney.
She also has been associated with a central American human rights organization, Cristosal, since 2007, and as their Vice President Board of Directors for the past two years, a volunteer post. Cristosal is an Open Society Foundation organization… George Soros’ group… heroes to some, devils to others.
Folks, there is practically no chance for Denney to win the seat; she’s a designated loser, there in case LaMalfa makes a fatal mistake in his campaign. Vote for her if you want Nancy Pelosi to be speaker again and vote for LaMalfa if you don’t want Pelosi as speaker again. If hell freezes over in a Blue Wave in November, she won’t have much of a voice as a freshman representative and would pretty much have to vote as she’s told.

How low will they go?? Oh, we ain’t seen nothing yet. They will go real low.
There area lot of single Moms out there with sons from both sides of the aisle that are afraid if their boys sneak off to a party somewhere and have a beer, their lives could be ruined way down the road. Those Moms pray there isn’t a girl within a mile of place her son hangs our. And then there is college and keggers in caves or at the beach, not to mention house parties, oat parties lake parties.
Moms. Moms intuitively and nstantly know the implications of this on their husbands, sons, brothers, loved ones. Their family. It could happen to anyone of her men. Makes Moms and wives protective. Guilty til proven innocent ain’t sitting too well. Of course they, like us all, want Dr. Ford to be heard. But Dems will way overplay their hand as they always do. They actually believe they speak for all women.
Megan Kelly on Avenatti:
“But Avenatti’s been out there trying to tease people that he’s got some third accuser with the most incendiary claims of all. If you’ve got it, have her come forward. You don’t tease allegations of rape. You don’t tease. You either make them or you don’t. He’s out of line. He’s out of line.
Moments later, PBS In Principle host Amy Holmes noted: “And I think it’s important to note that Senate Democrats have come out and said that Mr. Avenatti’s claims are not helpful. That if he has information, he needs to do it the right way, submit it to the Judiciary Committee to have it properly investigated.”

Here’s an idea …
Confirm Kavanaugh. Should be Easy-peasy if Dr. Ford is a no-show on Thursday as some are forecasting.
Then Dr. Ford can make a criminal complaint in her old home town and it can be handled as it should be… as a state criminal investigation. If Kavanaugh is found guilty fair and square I’ll support his impeachment and separation from the SCOTUS.

The survey covers manufacturing in the Fed’s Fifth District, which includes Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
“The composite index rose from 24 in August to 29 in September, buoyed by increases in shipments and new orders, while the index of the third component, employment, dropped. Survey respondents were optimistic, expecting growth to continue in the next six months,” the Richmond Fed said.

They are already talking about impeaching Clarance Thomas, ROFLMAO. You think that bunch would do anything Easy-peasy? They are in a perpetual state of pandemonium, upheaval, and maelstrom. All this constant chaos, tension, turmoil. All rules are out the window. Boy, they don’t like being kicked out of the Candy Store. Me thinks they have gotten worse. Some folks hit bottom, pause a moment, then floor gives out and they just keep falling.

Let’s see. We have gone from someone trying to pull a bathsuit top down, to assault, to rape survivor. What comes after gang rape? Murder! Murder!
Breaking News: Dead stripper found in trunk of car with plastic penis in her mouth pulled from lake behind Yale!!

Not mr perfect after all –
Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who is leading an insurgent challenge against incumbent Ted Cruz, claimed during a debate on Friday that he never left the scene of a DWI crash near El Paso in 1998, but a leading Washington Post fact-checker challenged the claim, giving it “four Pinocchios.”
On the evening of his 26th birthday, O’Rourke crashed into a truck traveling in “the same direction” at high speed in a 75 MPH zone before crossing the median into opposite lanes of traffic and coming to a stop, a witness told a police officer at the time.
O’Rourke had a blood alcohol content of 0.136, well above the legal limit of 0.10 at the time, as well the current limit of 0.08.
“The defendant/driver then attempted to leave the scene,” the police officer, Richard Carrera, said in a police report. The witness “then turned on his overhead lights to warn oncoming traffic and try to get the defendant to stop.”
According to the officer, O’Rourke had “glossy” eyes and was “unable to be understood due to slurred speech.”

Oh, Dr. Rebane, you are being too charitable. 🙂
Some noticed. It’s this constant epurting volcano syndrome that keeps churning and spitting out hot lava that has to wear everybody down. “Unsettled” is me being charitable. . Rules for Radicals: keep up the pressure. Ok, but keeping up the pressure doesn’t mean blowing your top every 7 seconds, does it? Thar she blows off starboard….again and again and again. It was cool the first 200 times, but is wearing a bit thin. Lost its novelty a few dozen freak outs ago. Addicted to Chaos. Addicted to outrage!
Now they are floating the idea that Trump should nominate Merrick Garland….someone who will get confirmed without all this tension, turmoil, and chaos. Fact is stranger than fiction.
It’s been two weeks since the Senate hearings were done with the Committee vote imminent. Two weeks now and everything in the nation has to stop while the Dems show the entire world how completely out of their ever lovin’ minds they have become. Man, they lost it. Well beyond the point of no return.

Tried and true –
In enlisting Mitchell to join their staff, Republican senators are taking an unusual step. They are turning to her to ask what are expected to be personal and potentially painful questions about the woman’s youth on live television, sparing the all-male panel of 11 Republican senators on the committee some uncomfortable exchanges that could sway the public’s opinion about the session.
“The majority members have followed the bipartisan recommendation to hire as staff counsel for the committee an experienced career sex-crimes prosecutor to question the witnesses at Thursday’s hearing,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said in a statement. “The goal is to de-politicize the process and get to the truth, instead of grandstanding and giving senators an opportunity to launch their presidential campaigns.”

“Escobar was first ordered removed from the country in 1988 and was deported to his native El Salvador six times between 1997 and 2011, ICE said in a statement Tuesday night.
Two homeless men sleeping on the beach were bludgeoned in the head early on Sept. 8 and Sept. 10, leaving one in critical condition, officials said.
Another man who apparently was sleeping on the beach was found dead under the Santa Monica Pier on Sept. 20. Steven Ray Cruze Jr., 39, of San Gabriel, had been beaten to death.
Texas authorities also want to talk to Escobar about the disappearances late last month of 60-year-old Dina Escobar and her brother, 65-year-old Rogelio Escobar, Houston police said in a statement.

Trump the “laughing stock of the whole world”? Upon closer inspection, the UN General Assembly is filled with the most corrupt people from the most corrupt countries on earth – governmental leaders who regularly steal billions from their own people while begging money from developed countries, continuing to suppress enterprise and freedoms, destroying their lands’ environments, and siphoning their stolen funds out-of-country instead of investing in their own people. Given what all America gives to such bastards, I would consider it a badge of honor to be on the other side of ‘world opinion’ with the likes of those – so should President Trump.

GeorgeR: “UN General Assembly is filled with the most corrupt people”
I think it’s probably more fair to just view them as another country with it’s own self interest. Your average UN representative from the Congo is going to spend 99% of his time in New York or in resort hotels listening to a few speeches. His self interest is tied into the organization itself rather than his home country….so he’ll be relatively loyal to the UN.
I don’t doubt that you could substitute ‘EU’ for ‘UN’ in any discussion of that type.

A conservatives opinion of Ted Cruz:
New York Times conservative columnist Bret Stephens in a dialogue with fellow op-ed writer Gail Collins.
“I like Beto O’Rourke, the Democratic challenger, and I like the idea that Texas can turn a bit purple if you have a candidate with energy, wit and a human touch,” Stephens wrote Tuesday. “The big reason is that I despise Ted Cruz. That is ‘D-e-s-p-i-s-e,’ in case I haven’t spelled out my loathing clearly enough. Would you like to know why?”
“Oh, gosh, please go on,” said Collins.
“Because he’s like a serpent covered in Vaseline. Because he treats the American people like two-bit suckers in 10-gallon hats. Because he sucks up to the guy who insulted his wife — by retweet, no less. Because of his phony piety and even phonier principles. Because I see him as the spiritual love child of the 1980s televangelist Jimmy Swaggart and Jack Nicholson’s character in “The Shining.” Because his ethics are purely situational. Because he makes Donald Trump look like a human being by comparison. Because “New York values.” Because his fellow politicians detest him, and that’s just among Republicans. Because he never got over being the smartest kid in eighth grade. Because he’s conniving enough to try to put one over you, but not perceptive enough to realize that you see right through him. Because he’s the type of man who would sell his family into slavery if that’s what it took to get elected. And that he would use said slavery as a sob story to get himself re-elected.
Otherwise, you might say I’m his No. 1 fan.”

Powerful stuff Punch….or should we go with “The Ponytail of Ignorance” (Hat tip Don!) going forward?
I would suggest moving to Texas and voting for O’Rourke…..always good to get in on the ground floor of a movement!

Pretty good U.N. speech. No mincing words, no bob and weave.
“America is governed by Americans. We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism around the world. Responsible nations must defend against threats to sovereignty. And not just from governments but from the other newer forms of coercion and domination.” He continued, “I honor every nation to pursue its own customs, beliefs, and traditions. The United States will not tell you how to live or work or worship. We only ask that you honor our sovereignty in return.”
Trump also called out socialism for the disaster that it is, declaring, “Currently, we are witnessing a human tragedy … in Venezuela. More than two million people have fled the anguish inflicted by the socialist Maduro regime and its Cuban sponsors. Not long ago, Venezuela was one of the richest countries on Earth. Today, socialism has bankrupted the oil-rich nation and driven its people into abject poverty.” Pulling no punches, Trump then explained, “Virtually everywhere socialism or communism has been tried, it has produced suffering, corruption, and decay. Socialism’s thirst for power leads to expansion, incursion, and oppression.”

Worth repeating as we see this oppression happening and coming from every aspect of the totalitarian left. A nasty dishonest bunch thirsting for power.
“Socialism’s thirst for power leads to expansion, incursion, and oppression.” -Donald J. Trump

Just offering a little perspective from a Conservative Fish.
Ahhh…..more of the comedy stylings of Uncle Punchy……very amusing!
Brett Stephens is as “conservative” as you are libertarian Punch…….which is to say not at all!
Why didn’t you just go with something from the existing NYT neutered “conservative” David Brooks?
